We all have our own opinions.
Personally though, I thought she was pretty cool later on in the game. LoZ:TP really gets you attatched to characters to the point where you actually care about what happens to them in the plot--like good books do sometimes.

I'd be all for seeing her in another game later down the line.

Two new sketchez! Woo

Ashen, again, though a little bit less DAI TEN KU-wise.

And a new character idea (I've been coming up with a whole bunch of them, lately >.>) which I'll have to edit this post to explain a bit more later, because I've got to head out. (Oh, and btw, the figure on the right is supposed to be all shiny and glowy and stuff, but I couldn't do that with a pencil and not risk ruining it for photoshop... so, yeah. LOLMOARNUDEZ8DDD)

edit!-
The idea for the character in the second picture goes along the line of a girl (named Myst for now) having the power to turn into what is called her "Nova" form at will. Her Nova form is pretty much like a 'Power up' she has, allowing her to cast magic, levitate, etc, which are things Myst can't do in her regular, human form. The catch is, though, that she still does not know how to completely control the Nova form--some spells might not work when she wants them to, some might shoot off on their own, and all sorts of unwanted actions can take place. Also, because Myst is not able to harness and contain the Nova form's power, using it puts a lot of strain of both her body and mind, so she is not able to use frequently, or for long periods of time.
As for her background, I was debating whether or not to put her in the same 'Non-profit mercenary' group that Ashen belongs to, saying that both of them joined it near the same time, and while Ashen excelled at learning his own skills and abilities, Myst did not. Her main goal then would be trying to learn how to focus, harness, and flawlessly control her Nova form.

Oh, and before anyone tries to ask, no she does not end up naked after she returns back to her regular form after going Nova. It's basically just a field of magic surrounding her anyways. <.<

editagain!-
I'm going to fix a few anatomical mistakes in her drawing sometime. I did it last night, and didn't notice them until I saw it up on screen.

A drawing DAI TEN KU was in order after noticing all the mistakes in the previous drawing.

In the japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl (SSBB), when Ike uses his final smash to lift people up and then starts hacking away at them, he shouts "DAI TEN KU!!"
This, translated, means "Great/Big Open Sky." Aether happens to be a greek word or something for an open portion of sky, so, roughly DAI TEN KU means "Great Aether!" which is the name of Ike's Final Smash.

Though, since I made it so Ashen yells "Dai Ten Ku!" every time he uses one of his powerful attacks, I coined "DAI TEN KU" to mean "(to) pwn."

Example:
"Tell CC to go post before I go all DAI TEN KU on him."

I'll DAI TEN KU you one if you keep using me in your examples. Except my DAI TEN KU will involve fire. Possibly raining from the sky.

You could probably just show him your face and it would hurt. <3

Just messin.

Swiftiez, new one looks really good. Just look out for the shoulders. ^_^

And yeah, I realized that too. What happened was I had the neck a little wider the first time I drew it, then slimed it down, and screwed up the length. It doesn't throw too much off though, fortunately.

I'm drunk on KNOWLEDGE!
The second picture of Nova is so incredibly familiar it's scaring me.
Do you know an artist known as NekoYasha, Swift? >.>

In the second picture of Ike Ashen, he looks anorexic.

Dai Ten Ku? Pleas,e Swift, come up with something original. >.>
(Oh, and you aren't one to talk about posting SWIFT. >.> )

Limbs seem to be your biggest problem They always look strange, either stiff or nearly boneless. Tutorials and References, boy. DevArt has a ton if you'd actually get on there. >.> There was a sudden gap between the torsos in Nova's pictures, so that's why I'm pretty sure you got a reference on the second one. Which is a good thing. Just don't get in a habit of copying whole poses.
And her wrist looks broken. No comment on the other hand.

Also, I'm like to see you draw your characters in different positions to more reflect their personality.
And I'd like to see you post more art so I can critique it and help you get better.

You have evident issues with clothes wrinkles, which is ok, I do too.

Exellent tutorial which explains all sorts of clothes, and even how they would look on each gender's body type.

Nauset already mentioned shoulders.

There's still something about the eyes bugging me, but it's more personal taste than that you're doing anything wrong.

Yeah, so I think that's about it.

I know there are a lot of things iffy about this, from the pose to the half-assed right boot and her left sleave that should have been given more scrunchyness to show it was held back some, but hopefully that's an improvement on the folds at least :x

That outfit really doesn't fit her personality. I like the way you drew her eye, though. Looks pretty sweet, the eye of someone who has seen death and what it causes.

How doesn't it fit her? Tessie liked it better than the one she origionally had, and it's more practical and refined than the other.
Remember that Avelyn isn't all 'Death, destruction, anger, and sorrow,' she has a stylish and elegance to her too--not just in appearence, but personality and fighting style as well.

The less-barbaric clothing expresses that, while her large sword and the simplicity of the belt and the harness(around back) that holds it shows otherwise.
It's the same costume she's been wearing for some time now--the one with the trench coat-ish thing and stuff. I just only lengthened her pants again now to Tessie's design.

Do you really think I read those bios of yours? I really just skim them, except bits of pieces like weaponry and history (in the case of the rare new charrie).

But haven't I explained that whole good/evil thing about Avelyn like, a thousand times already?
Apparently things just skim over that bolt in your head too.

Perhaps you misread my post...

"...the eye of someone who has seen death and what it causes."

by that, I mean exactly that whole good/evil story. She has seen death (the mercenary way of living), and what it causes (sorrow, tears, yada yada ya...).

I didn't misread it. I just said there was more to it than the anger and sadness that came from it.

A post for Avelyn in Crystal Curse:
Quote:

"...It's so beautiful."

The tone of voice was soft, almost like a whisper, but still audioable to the wake and nearby ear. The russtling in the sand and brush to make a makeshift sleeping surface was a result of a figure sitting up and gazing up towards the sky across the endless sea. The mornings were like the beginnings of dreams, so peaceful and tranquil--hardly the look of anything that could be part of a world that could hold so many dangers and sorrow. The red gave way to orange, the orange to a soft pink, and the pink to a pure-hearted light blue. The sun was the artist behind the masterpiece of life and happyness. It was the source of both hope and breath itself, now in what she saw, and in how the world worked. The periodic crashing of soft waves gave atmosphere to the view, and at that moment, it just seemed like she had left all of her problems behind once more.

The elf stood up as a small gust of wind from the ocean ahead of her rocked her clothing gently. Her hair swayed gently and the sun reflected in her beautiful eyes and tanned her skin. It seemed as though a piano was playing a very sweet and soft tune at the very moment, insisting on staying on a higher chord. Very simple, but very moving. The elf, being careful not the wake the others, moved towards the rock in which the large man from the previous night. Her footsteps were soft and light; the sand wasn't disturbed much at all as though she was attempting to walk on water. As she came to the side of the object he was perched upon, a second small breeze blew the golden bangs from her forehead and exposed her eyes to a bit more of the sunlight, increasing the shine* of the dark amber they held.

"I forgot to tell you yesterday," the elf spoke once more, though didn't look towards her target,

"I'll repay the favor sometime."

kthx
