It was an odd sight, really. Here was a cyborg, his bionics anything but subtle and gleaming in the light from the nighttime Ether Belt, laying on his back. His head was towards the edge, his feet towards the land from which he'd come. A knapsack lay off to the side, within arm's reach, and in his hands was a small device- a flute. More specifically... an ocarina. He manipulated the small instrument carefully. His hands were just as dexterous as they would be were they flesh, but there was a lot of power in them. He did not wish to crush the flute, and so he was cautious as he manipulated it. After a long moment, he brought the flute to his lips and began to pick out a tune. It was a child's song, but- as they are wont to be- was one with adult undertones. This one specifically spoke of solitude, of loneliness and the search for another. It was sweet, but a little sad, especially as he picked it out note by note. The tune would carry quite a ways in the cleared landscape of the Point. |

Zephera was literally just wondering when she heard the sound. She was having a particularly boring day. She'd done absolutely nothing, except wander. She guessed it was good for her to lay low once in a while. Though however good it was, it made her want to scream with frustration. How could the world be so void in a day? Was there really so little to it? Zephera stopped and listened to the music. She had an idea of where it was coming from, and she slowly and silently followed. Her steps were careful not to disturb. Oddly, she did not reach for any weapons. Simple curiousity guided her. She realized she was walking toward a peninsula. Whoever was playing was at the top. She stopped a moment, attempting to take a look at the source before she approached. She saw no one. At first, she furrowed her brows in confusion, thinking maybe she was hearing things. That she had finally gone mad. She continued to move closer, and spotted the player. He...or it, was laying down. By the looks of him, she knew he was a cyborg. Her first reaction was to turn and walk away. Cyborgs were very uninteresting creatures. She'd always disliked even thinking about them. The song stopped her. It was possibly the most beautiful sound she'd ever heard. She never thought it possible to feel such emotion; such an empty, longing type of sorrow. Though there were notes of what seemed like they were meant to please, she only felt grief. She plopped down where she was, still at a good distance, and sat back on her heels, listening. As sad as it was, she wished it never to stop. |

The cyborg was perceptive, but there wasn't much to give away the assassin's presence. Instead, he kept playing, the notes slowly becoming a little more smooth, a bit more practiced as he continued. He had a quick mind, and the relatively simple song was working its way into his memory. He stopped after quite a few repetitions and sighed, obviously frustrated at something. He eyed the flute for a few moments, then flopped backwards and blew one last, irritated toot before tucking it away and staring at the play of light from the Ether Belt below on the clouds above. |

A whiny, sigh-like "no" escaped Zephera's mouth when the music stopped. She hadnt meant to give herself away so soon. But the word had come without warning. She shook her head, irritated with herself. So she stood, and boldy made her way up the peninsula. "I demand to know why you stopped." Zephera stood above the cyborg, hands on her hips. She looked down at him, knowing she probably wasnt intimidating him. Her antics worked on humans, but cyborgs were generally different. She supposed they felt superior because of their makeup. Part of the reason why they were as interesting. |

At the first sound, he ratcheted a blade into his free hand- a heavy throwing knife- and looked around immediately, sitting up as Zephera crossed into view. He eyed her appraisingly, keeping his grasp on the weapon as she approached. He became no less wary when she stated her question. It was odd, after all, and could easily be an excuse to get close. He was pretty sure he'd seen her before, and the Hunter's Hall came to mind. Perhaps she had a bounty... he wasn't sure, though, and knew better than to attack without proof of wrongdoing. "Because it wasn't working." It was a simple response- and easily misconstrued for self-criticism of his playing ability. |

Zephera cocked her head with confusion. "Wasn't working?" She sat down crossed legged next to the cyborg, in no way alarmed by his show of defense. She had no intentions of causing trouble, which rarely happened. Therefore, she felt no danger. She frowned at him, looking like a disappointed child. "I dont know what you mean. Music doesnt work, it just is... What were you trying to achieve that failed? The song was lovely. What was it?" She knew she was throwing question after question at him, but she naturally lacked the ability to care what people thought. She wanted answers. Sjhe wanted to hear the music again. She wanted to know how she could somehow hear it more. She lost all sense of mischief and the desire to do evil things. Perhaps cyborgs were as horrible as she thought. |

"I-" He paused for a brief instant, realizing the woman had no way to know what he'd been attempting by playing music on the instrument. "-was simply dissatisfied with the quality of the music. I am pleased to hear not all found it so." He shifted to a sitting position, sitting with his side presented to her as he tilted his head to maintain eye contact. The position also hid the blade behind his legs, which would likely make him an even less intimidating figure. "It is called "In The Mountains." There are lyrics, about a child shepherd searching the hills around his home for a lamb that wandered away from the flock. It's rather a child's song, but... it is rather emotive." Magna tried to read her expression for a moment. "You really enjoyed that?" |

Zephera nodded slowly. "I may be deceiving, but I dont lie about petty things," she said, eyeing him. "As for the quality of the music...perhaps I am uneducated in such things, but I certainly was caught in its sound. That, Im afraid, was the first time another being has had control over me. It's always been the opposite. And you did it simply by playing an instrument. So yes, you could say I liked it. Or you could say it was more like the kind of situation where you find yourself trapped, unwillingly. Yet if you were to be released, some part of you would feel as if you were better without your freedom. Like it was for your own good. And you at least enjoyed that part of it." She sighed and ran her hands down her face. When she put them back in her lap, her face contained a deviant look, once again. She was telling the cyborg too much, and he may not have even understood what she meant, but then again, he may have. Zephera was not one to underestimate people. She dealt with plenty of fools, and they were nothing. Their stupidity disgusted her. The small population of the world that actually had brains, however, she had a slight respect for. She didnt necessarily like them, but she knew to be weary. Therefore, she put her disposition back on and secretly promised herself that she wouldnt be a fool herself. |

Though he did a good job not showing it, the response was surprising. The woman didn't seem the type to be easily manipulated- in fact, she seemed more the type to DO the manipulating. Still, it was a candid response, and Zentry didn't take that lightly. "I see. Thank you for the compliment. I suppose I can imagine the sort of entrapment you describe... hmm." He used his free hand to open the pouch with the flute and retrieve it, examining it quietly for a moment. "If it has such a hold on you, I leave the decision as to whether I play again or not in your hands. I do not intend to leave you captive as I practice if you do not desire it." |

Zephera brought her legs out from underneath her and stretched them out to the side. She held her upper body in position with her arm, and grabbed her immense amount of hair with her free hand to bring it behind her. She sat and looked at the cyborg a moment, not quite knowing what to say. Finally, she spoke. "No one wants to be held captive, cyborg. But most people do not know whats best for them either. Do you, being as you arent fully human and all? Are you different than we are? Obviously, you have human elements. I would imagine your mind is quite human. But is there something more that puts you on a higher level?" Zephera's eyes gleamed with slight defiance now. She'd worked herself up. It would be difficult for her to come back down. She'd never killed a cyborg before. She wondered how much different...or alike it would be. |

Magna raised an eyebrow at her statements. "Not fully human? That's an intriguing way to view it. Had I accepted my wounds, I would- despite having lost a good percentage of my body- still be considered fully human. You would not tell a knight he is no longer human simply because he wears armor- why would you consider saying otherwise simply because I cannot remove my armor any more than you can remove your own limbs?" He kept his eyes on her. She had a glint to her expression now that hadn't been there before. It was concerning- he hadn't worked as a bounty hunter without taking anything away from it. "I am not on a higher level for being equipped with cybernetics. I am capable of things I would not be otherwise, but I have lost some things as well, despite my best efforts at incorporating them into the designs." |

Zephera cocked her head at the cyborgs words. She didnt completely agree with his way of thinking about himself, but her anger left her somewhat as curiosity took hold. She smirked a bit and asked, "what kind of things are you capable of? I'm quite interested." |

"Good question." He left a brief silence in the air as he considered what to share and what to keep back. "First off, I'm quite a bit stronger than most humans can even attempt to aim for, not to mention sturdier. It'd be quite difficult to break a metallic spine, after all. That, plus the ability to customize one's limbs, is a rather large advantage." Magna let his words sink in for a bit before continuing. "But that doesn't change the fact that a cybernetic embrace is far less comforting than one of flesh and blood. Most find it... disconcerting. At the very least, at first. I've met a few cyborgs with significant others that do not sport bionics themselves, but they are rather rare." |

Zephera listened to the cyborg speak. Slightly interesting. Enough so to keep her talking to him. "A cybernetic embrace, huh?" She laughed a little, then looked at him seriously. "So I imagine your love life cant be all that great, then, can it? Unless you've found a female cyborg to share your situation. That seems...odd." Zephera thought it over. She pictured different scenarios and smiled, amused. "Perhaps some women are attracted to your differences?" She ventured to ask him. |

"As of yet, the only women who have been even temporarily interested have either heard of my research and did now know I am a cyborg, or else have caught rumors of what I did before and want to meet "Professor Bounty Hunter." Neither lasts long, though I've yet to be particularly disappointed by that. My unique combination of past and profession does not exactly encourage a safe lifestyle, and- though I admit I've met a couple- rare is the woman who can deal with a man who hunts for one kind of trouble and is followed by another." He seemed amused himself; the situation genuinely didn't seem to bother him. Magna wasn't the type to moon over his "poor, unfortunate love life;" he had things to do and people to not get killed by. He was honestly comfortable being single- and that in and of itself was a rarity among men... as long as you ignored the occasional "player." |
