Points change to be announced in Jan at Daytona? NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France has said repeatedly that the sanctioning body likely will change its points structure again in 2011. Whether winning becomes more of a factor remains to be seen, but expect big changes next season. France is expected to announce the new system Jan. 21, 2011, during winter testing at Daytona International Speedway.(in part from SPEED)(12-5-2010)

This can only be good.

We had the Kenseth rules last time, these will be the Johnson rules...that he manages to circumvent and win another 14 titles in a row.

Jimmie would just win 15 races and spoil what little fun the rest of us have early in the season before he's primed up.

I think it should be 1 point for every lap led and 100 points for winning the race. That will make races exciting from begging to end.

Also fuck qualifying start them in reverse points order, who ever is leading the points starts 43rd. 2nd in points starts 42nd, 3rd in points starts 41st...ect

That's a little too simplistic.

Not to mention NASCAR officials cant count that high. By season's end they'll be out of their head doing math and trying to figured out where everyone stacks up in the standings.

Jimmie would win by half a million points by mid season. lol

All that they have to do is keep up with laps led and race wins. They already do that so it should be too hard.

Seriously though, qualifying for every race should be like the Daytona 500, with time trials and a qualifying race. Probably not 150 miles though, just a heat race like on a dirt track Saturday night.

So Derrick Cope and Kevin Conway starting up front..that's a brilliant idea!

Put Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin 43rd and 42nd and it will be exciting to see who can lead the most laps and win the race. Also 50 bonus points for leading the half way lap.

Why not is because Jimmie or Denny aren't the only relevant drivers.

Harvick, Stewart, Kurt, Edwards, Gordon, Biffle, Kyle, Bowyer

You know, those guys...

Speaking of which, I love how Hamlin was getting nominated for all these driver of the year awards (that Johnson would win anyway) and not Harvick. Harvick had a season much better than Hamlin and if it weren't for the points reset would've been ahead of Hamlin because he outscored him not only in the regular points, but also in points scored during the Chase. Stupid look at the wins column only voters...

Hell Gordon had one less top 10 then Hamlin.

The average finish for Hamlin was 12.9. Gordon's was 13.4.

Not much of a huge difference there. Shitty year and all Gordon's year could be compare to Denny's if you take away the wins. Which on the old point system you didn't need to win a championship btw.
