As of right now there are going to be no rookie of the year contenders next year for the cup series. For the most part teams are keeping the same drivers for next year, and those teams that are switching drivers are just replacing them with aleready active drivers like Truex. The only team that is really open is the #1. And BradK will not be a Rookie of the year contender by the way. Maybe this will change by next year, but I doubt it. It may be the first time ever there won't be a rookie of the year.

It hasn't really mattered for like the last 5 years. I mean last year with Hornish I payed attention to it sparingly (not even sure who won, I think it was Regan Smith), but it seems like the last time it mattered was Truex Jr.

I thought you had finally realized that Tony Stewart is a god and that Kyle Busch is the man. sadly I am dissapointed you have not yet realized that.

Acutually in 2007 there was a decent amount of drivers, Montoya ran away with it though. 2006 was a great year though. Hamlin, Truex, Bowyer, Yeley, Sorenson, and a few others all ran that year. 2004, 2003, and 2002 were also good years from what I remember. True though, the past 2 years the rookie crowd has been pretty shitty except for Logano

However he had some interview back in May and they asked him about it:

WOULD YOU FORGO YOUR ROOKIE STATUS FOR NEXT YEAR IF THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY CAME ALONG? “I think I already have or I’m intending to. I haven’t because I haven’t ran enough races but the way we’re trying to schedule it out we’re going through that process. When it comes to the rookie situation, I knew at the start of the year we were going to run somewhere around 16 races and the maximum I think is seven or eight, I can’t remember specifically. I didn’t file for rookie of the year because the last thing I wanted to see was my name at the bottom of that list knowing that you probably couldn’t win it unless you ran the whole deal.”(GM Racing)(5-2-2009)

Not if you're Stephon Marbury.

If he did end up running 16 races he'd have a damn good shot. It is your best 16 races that determines it afterall lol
