found this and this man is right on the money What GM needs is vehicles that people dream about - vehicles that people want to own. Where is the Firebird, the Trans Am, the GTO? Where are names that people associate with Pontiac like Bonneville, Catalina, and Grand Prix? Here's what GM needs to do. 1. Make the Trans Am and Firebird immediately and introduce them for the 2010 model year. 2. Make the GTO available by 2012, and make it affordable so it can sell 100,000 units a year. 3. Get rid of every name in the G-series. Rename the vehicles with NAMES, not numbers. 4. Keep the Solstice. 5. Get Pontiacs on TV and in movies. Look at what sales of the Trans Am did after Smokey and the Bandit was released. 6. Give Pontiac its own engine line. Pontiac buyers don't want corporate engines in their cars. |

My only problem with that is the GTO. No need for that if you have the Grand Prix, unless the GP becomes the small car in place of the Grand Am. Or else the GTO can become the new American rice rocket unless Dodge redebuts the Neon.

Yeah but the firebird has that down. Seems like it would just be an overlap. |

For the GTO they need to take out the LS2 and put a pontiac built engine in it then redo the body to reflect more of the old GTO style instead of a redone grand prix with 400 horses under the hood. |

Yea but it would still be a family car. Not a Pony car. You could still get 4 grown people in it and not be breakin ankles |

Still seems like more of the unneccessary overlap they're trying to get rid of to me. Unless the GTO was to be a top end Grand Prix and Trans Am a top end Firebird kind of like the SRT line for Dodge. Pontiac could throw the heritage names on their top performers instead of naming them something like SS or SRT. |

That would probably be what it would come down to. Top end versions with a little more retro look. |

Okay I trust you (I know) so I will say that is a valid source. So, just a question do you think that GM should have a flagship car (Vette) or should Chevy, Pontiac, and Cadillac duke it out and be able to produce the best sports car they can? I mean in some ways both seem like a viable option, I mean when you look a company the flagship is it's greatest symbol but then again competition breeds the best product usually. Also I don't think Chevy or Pontiac want any of Caddy: see Cadillac Sixteeen

Yea but its different price ranges they would fall into. Like the 16 would be insanely priced and impractical. The nose weight would make it a sled tryin to make turns. Wouldnt happen. Now the Cien is more of something they didnt want to mess with. |

I think Pontiac needs to focus on being performance division of the next wave of alternate fuels. Hyrdogen, electric, and maybe solar. I mean yeah it would be nice to have a bunch of sport cars and muscle cars (Firebird, Trans Am (suped up firebird), and GTO) but it sucks if nobody will buy a car that gets 20-23 mpg. I mean they sell what 100,000 Vettes a year if they are lucky (I may be way off). But imagine if Pontiac had the design and Performance of the cars everyone loved, they were very fuel efficient and they set themselves and GM up for years that's a plan! Also, it is attainable just look at what fiskar is doing with their electric car and SSC the company that made the fastest car in the world is making it electric. Just a thought. |

Well if they get the people involved who does the Corvette motors then 16 would be overkill. Vette is ownin stuff with 12 so you let them double what they got now and your gonna see some speed records drop faster then old ladies panties in a Kasey Kahne commercial |

Also, David to let you know about your question the other day it seems Chevy is doing something right, according to Conceptcarz.com. Silverado: $18,000-$40,000 Invoice: $17,000-$37,000 Colorado: $16,700-$26,900 Invoice: $15,700-$25,200 So like we were sayin, starts off close but Silverado options out much higher. |

GM in general needs to think that way. Cylinder cut off is nice but you need to mix in some electric too. Combo platter that thing and make em affordable but still have that beefy V8 people wants. The Big 3s approach is so narrow minded that its ridiculous. Long term people, long term |

How much is a V8 Colorado/Canyon with 4x4? As opposed to the Silverado? Or does the little truck even get a V8? |

$28-29 for a 4x4, 4 door, with a V-8 (300 hp shocked me) I didn't pick through the options. ==> Colorado $34 for a 4x4, 4 door, with a V-8 (295 hp 4.8L I picked the package up one from the WT where as the Colorado only had 2 packages I kept the cheapest) ==> Silverado |

One Chevy's website is a lot higher than their lots and two basically the Sliverado options up a lot higher than the Colorado. Dodge doesn't do this? |
