So Brett is calling it quit from the Jets. This is a glorious and sad day combined. I think he's got one more run in him for the Bills

Yay! Hopefully we never have to hear from him again. He's without a doubt one of the most overrated players of all-time. Of course we have to listen to ESPN kiss his ass for at least the next two weeks about his so called "legacy" |

I saw it coming, it seems like he didn't really enjoy his time with the Jets. Sad to hear, but he had one hellova' career |

He only owns them by playing 2 more years than Elway and 1 more than Marino. I want my wins record back. Elway deserves it. Now I know how Babe Ruth fans feel about Hank Aaron. |

was elway forced to retire? No. he knew he didn't have the skill or talent to win another SB so he went out on top. Elway was used up even if he played 2 more years the records would still be Favre's |

Well if that was the case Farve should of retired years ago, because outside of one fluke year last year he has been mediocre at best. But he trudged on and took all of Marino's records just like Bruce Smith took Reggie White's by playing well beyond his prime. As far as Elway, he was the qb of the best team in the NFL when he retired and was putting up some of his best numbers in years. Elway retired because he had finally gotten 2 of what he had played so long to get and had nothing more to prove. Sure he could of played longer and disgraced what he had taken so long to build up and eventually gotten cut by the team he made famous like certain other qb's, but he knew when to bow out. However Elway didn't have many major record when he left, all he had was wins and 4th quarter comebacks (which he still has). He is top 5 in most categories though and was top 2 or 3 when he retired. Marino had all of the records Farve took, and no matter what the records say now Dan Marino is twice the passer Brett Farve will ever be. |

I never have and never will say Favre is better than Marino. Now lets say Elway did play 2 more seasons these are the numbers (per season) he would need to match favres records. Then the other number is the best he has done in any one season of his career. 1,015 Passing Attempts / Career Best 605 798.5 Pass Completions / Career Best 348 82 Touchdowns / Career Best 27 10.5 Wins / Career Best 14 6,826 Passing Yards / Career Best 4,030 some of those are so far out of reach it isn't even possible for him to acheive it if he played 3-4 more years. |

I never said he had any records other than wins. Just because you don't have the records doesn't make you not the best. Joe Montana isn't near the top in some of those, does that mean he isn't anything more than average? No he's one of and some can effectively argue the best to ever play. |

we always get into this discussion and always come to the conclusion that there are too many variables that determine a great QB. Sure Tom Brady looked like the greatest QB of all time dominated defenses has precision accuracy. But I am willing to bet if he was running the detroit lions offense he wouldn't do anything except get sacked and throw pics. The real test would be if we could have each QB in there prime and have them do passing drills but that still isn't all that is involved when you talk about great QB's |

I say Dan Marino after he left the team went to shit. After Montana left the Niners were still contenders with Steve Young. I think Denver lost most of its playmakers after 98 (I could be wrong need David to confirm or deny.) So denver going to shit could be caused by many different things. |
