Has anyone here gone online and get the coupons to buy the converter for the Digital switch in February? You get 2 coupons for $40 and them things are like $45-70. And I know what you're thinking, I already have Dish or DirecTV or whatever and you think... YOU think that you don't need it but what would happen if you get hit by a hurricane and like me, the hurricane blows away your satellite, or same can happen if an earthquake strikes or a tornado, everyone is prone to one them mother nature disasters. What would you do then if you can't get no signal. You're not going to be able to hook up your antenna and settle for national coverage lol. I just requested them just in case you know lol

what about if that satellite gets blown away by either a tornado or hurricane, what TV will you be watching then huh? If it took them 3 weeks to come and fix mine, can u really last that long w/o a TV? lol

If a hurricane or something blew away your satellite watching TV would be the least of my worries.

Seeing as the only time I watch tv is on Sundays when sports is on...yea Im fine. All my tv shows I like I can watch online.

But like donk said, tv will be the least of my concerns if wind that strong comes by. And I live in VA, we dont get hurricanes or tornados

Ok every 6 or 7 years we get a true hurricane. Like a Cat 1 or 2 tops. Tropical storms dont count

No Oklahoma gets plenty of tornados. We get 3-4 a year in a 100 mile radius. One or two hits maryland a year and then we might get one or two somewheres in this part of Va but nothin close enough to worry with....well for me anyway, yall are in a flatter stretch of land so overall Im good :D

Cept snow/ice <_<

Don't try and justify ignorance.

There was one back in July that was within 10 miles of here. They usually have a couple a year in Madison.

Yeah you see stories about them on the news every few weeks around the state. Usually we get one within 50 miles or so every couple of months.

I'm kinda curious as to how it'll affect the cheap under $20.00 battery powered(does have a plug too) portable television sets available. You know the type of sets that are obviously going to be used when there's a disaster(who's gonna have power to their converter boxes and televisions). These disaster essentials can't hook up to converters, nevermind cable.

Easy solution to that, get a radio

Hooray satellite radio. Local stations may be down, but CNN & Fox & NPR hopefully won't be, as long as I have gas and or car batteries I shall be ok (unless they take the satellites out of the sky).

Umm, I'm sure around these parts Cablevision would have the Cable back up before LIPA has the power back on after a hurricane knowing the latter's reputation
