Okay before ya'll say "Jeez, another thing KB is bitching about" :aaron: Let me tell ya'll what happened today:Erin went to HEB to buy groceries and she came home like around 11:15 and as she was pulling onto the driveway she noticed the mailman going by, so she immediately went inside our house and she turned on the xbox 360, got the movie out, put it on that little pouch and she put it in the envelope, she hurried and catched the mailman just houses away. So what seems to be the problem, ya'll ask? Well yesterday I was playing Lost Planet with my friends and I turned it off and went to sleep. So today my friend called me saying that the room was ready so that we could all play. So I turn on the 360 and nothing was there, so I started looking to see where the game was, and so I asked Erin if she had seen the game. And she said no. So as I was going through some games/movies on these table, I came across with the movie: The Grudge 2. And as she saw it she said "oh my god". and i told her, what's wrong? Is that the movie from netflix? and I said "yeah, what about it" oh you know the rest. She put my game inside the envelope instead of the ACTUAL MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :aaron:    So just a half hour ago, I called Netflix, I had to wait 17 minutes till I was talking to a representative and I told him what had happened. Well he goes "Oh no problem, we'll send you the next movie that's on your queue and just send the Grudge 2 when you're done and want to mail your next movie out" and I told him, well wait, what about my game?" and he goes "oh unfortunely, our policy is that if it's not our movie, we discard anything on that envelope, your game might've been destroyed already"    And I told him "that doesn't make any sense, it was a mistake, couldn't ya'll just get the game and mail it back, or call me in regards to the incident so that I could go and pick it up?" And he goes "We're sorry sir, but that's our policy" and I told him "well that's fucking bullshit, the fucking movie only cost what? 15, 16 bucks and my game cost me 65 bucks!!!!!!" and he goes "again sir, that's our policy, we're sorry" Pieces of shit!! :smash: :throw: And I know they have a lot of offices because of the demand, I'm pretty sure there's one near here, somewhere in my region. tomorrow I'ma try to be as early as I can trying to see if the US Post office to see if they haven't shipped my game to the netflix office. I'm still mad, I mean it's a stupid policy, as a courtesy they can call and let you know of the incident, not destroy whatever is inside. This is BULLSHIT!! |

sounds to me like you should be mad at Erin not Netflix that is pretty stupid though if you send the wrong thing back common sense would be for them to send it back to you with a letter asking for the right thing. On the bright side atleast it was a crappy game

is their fault for that stupid policy. they could've been courteous (sp) and they could've called me, not destroy the game. And if anyone wants Erin, be my guest!!  :smash: :throw: nah, just kidding. :shifty: |

It's Netflix's fault because they don't have common courtesy. When you return the wrong disc to the videostore they have the common courtesy to call and not destroy your discs. Sure this isn't a brick and mortar store that you can walk into, but you expect the same type of customer service offered by those retailers. If they go about destroying anything that isn't property of Netflix that is "accidently" sent there, then that's bad customer service. Assuming they practice such for every customer, then it'd be awefully hard to retain their customer base. If anything Netflix's policy is a scam and they should reimburse you. I'd call up again and demand they pay you for your property, something they have no right to destroy in the first place. |

and your local video store might handle what 3-500 retuns aday in a busy aera your probably looking at a minimum of 10 times that at a netflix center... and lets say i have a copy of a game that for some reason no longer works can i send it to netflix in place of their movie demand to get it back and then sue them for damageing my property.. like i said it sucks that society is the way it is but i dont blame them one bit for covering their own ass the best way possible.. you can cover your eyes and ears and pretend we live in some perfect world where everybody is good and honest all you want but that doesnt make it a reality |

Ding. They have over 6 million subscribers and they ship 1.4 million DVDs out a day. Sucks if you screw up, but I'm glad they don't waste time tracking down people when they screw up because that means I'm getting my movie later and/or the cost of a subscription increases. If you don't like their policies, spend your money elsewhere. Simple as that. |

If they're not tracking those people down, it means they're losing money when they have to repurchase those discs that aren't returned. This is assuming that most people who don't return the discs either forget where they put it or what not. While they might have a copy on hand to ship out at the time, it doesn't bold well if you're trying to run a video rental business. It would be in the best interests of a company with 6 million subscribers to put customer service as it's top priority. Also it would be less costly to call someone than having to repurchase thousands of dvds which most likely go unreturned do to such mistakes whether intentional or not. |

you have to got to be kidding me i have no idea how much netflix pays for these dvds but i can guarentee that they dont pay nearly as much as you or i would at best buy or walmart etc and even at the prices you or i would pay it would still be cheaper to buy these new discs then hire somebody to be chaseing after people there are several options to returning a disc to them without the envelope it came in and im sure they will still be expecting the movie in question to be returned and not to mention protecting themselves from fraud... the bottom line is netflix wernt the ones to put the wrong disc in the envelope heaven forbid anybody take any responsibility for their own actions to blame netflix for this is like blameing mcdonalds for makeing you fat and im sure this was covered in the terms and conditions that must be agreed to before membership is granted |

They have hundreds, even thousands, of each particular DVD so it's very likely they don't replace it if one gets lost. You're going to get charged for the DVD until it comes back, so they really aren't losing money. |

Yea Im sure if they are buyin millions of movies from each supplier they arent payin more then $2 a DVD. If that. Hiring several people to send out emails or makin calls at $17-20k salary a year to replace maybe 10,000 dvds lost a year. Just a guess but Im assuming most poeple are capable of sending back the DVD and doubt very many are lost in the mail, im sure it happens but not often. It just doesnt add up at all and I want to hear a good arguement for how it does. Their policy works just fine. |
