TSN.ca Staff 1/22/2007 1:12:23 PM Bobby Hamilton Racing have responded to critical comments made by the late NASCAR driver's son, Bobby Hamilton Jr. In his first public comments this past weekend since the death of his father, Junior said he has "washed my hands and dried them" when it came to the group currently running the team. Hamilton Jr. took over the driving duties at the Craftsman Truck Series team which bears his father's name following news that he was battling cancer. Hamilton Sr. passed away on January 7. Hamilton Jr. said soon after joining the team he knew that things weren't right with the operation. "Our leader at BHR wasn't around, he was sick, he wasn't up to par," Hamilton Jr. said. "It was almost like the Titanic. I was looking for a lifeboat." While Hamilton Jr. admitted that some of the troubles could be traced to his father's absence, he was critical about some of the team's management. "There are some other people who have a recent involvement into the family and BHR, about six or seven months ago, they're just kind of sinking it," Hamilton Jr. said. "I just can't be part of that." "The way it is now, it's not the way my dad was running it. You could see that, because in his absence, it was starting to falling apart." In a statement from Bobby Hamilton Racing, the team says it has confidence in the management structure and are looking forward to success in 2007. "We at Bobby Hamilton Racing are continuing operations with a team of people hand-selected by Bobby Hamilton Sr. This is the same team of people who helped Bobby Sr. win his NCTS championship title in 2004. The teams and our sponsors, Fastenal and Dodge, continued commitment is evident by the recent successful performance during testing in Daytona." |

Bobby Jr. is a little cocky but he's also pretty honest and straight up and if he says somebody's screwing something up I'd kinda believe it. Its sad too, but oh well. The same thing is happening in Nextel Cup, albeit slower and with ten times as much fanfare. |
