When your favorite Major League team is sucking, go to a Minor League affiliate game and enjoy yourself.

No egos, no multimillion dollar contracts, just good fun and great baseball. Tonight was the first time I've gone to a Rome Braves game even though the stadium is less than 20 minutes from my house, but it was well worth the wait. They won 9-4, thanks in big part to a 3 run double by Eric Campbell that put them up 8-4 in the 7th. Great game, great players, and something everybody oughta check out if you're a baseball fan.

I would consider that close because the closest minor league team to me is 9 hours away.

I have two teams within a 45 minute radius in the majors, and no AAA or AA teams until you hit Trenton or Pawtucket :P

It's kind of cool too if one of the players you saw in a minor league game makes it to the major leagues, you can say hey I saw him back when he played in Single-A.

They called off their score on the PA last night. I think it was 5-1 in the 5th. Never said anything about who won though.

I've seen tons and tons of White Sox players that I saw in the minors.

...that's pretty much why I also vote for Crede and Carlos Lee when it comes All-Star time...and why it's a big deal when one or the other has a good game around my house.

We got an awesome little downtown stadium we built last year. It's sweet. Still minor league and not a real big city, but great atmosphere and they are setting attendence records all the time the last two years. Plus, we're in the same division as the Intimidators ( I think ) so you get to see them play a few times each summer. I don't go much, I'm not a baseball person, but I've only heard good things about it this year. I think we were finally doing really good until a couple of weeks ago.

Oh, I've seen the new stadium...it's beautiful, man.

I've been to every stadium in the Carolina League, plus Danville, plus Richmond....and they had some nice ones (actually, a AAA stadium was the worst)....but damn, that Grasshoppers stadium looks right up there with the best of 'em.

The closest minor league team I have is the Single A team for the Nationals, used to be the White Sox (Michael Jordan played for them, in his little baseball phase) but i guess they move major league teams like they change names. Prince Williams Cannons, Potomac Cannons, Potomac Nationals, hard to say what they'll be next. I went there once years ago, but it isn't much more than an hour away when you factor in traffic.

We have the Brevard County Manatees down here, they also host the Nationals spring training games. They don't win much, but the experience is great I loved it every time my brother, grandfather, and I use to go to games up there. But since my grandomther has Alzhimers we don't get to there any more. :(

Yeah but you gotta remember the Ducks are easily tops in they're league right now. Or very close to the tops. Minor league baseball is always better than the majors though, because they actually have to attract people the park. Instead of relying on stars like Beltran, Bonds or Matsui. The mascots are always fan friendly and get fans involved and there are often contests between some of the innings.

I would recommend that anyone who hasn't attended a minor league game to do so.

Yeah there were a ton of contests mid-game.

I'm about deaf in my left ear so I plugged my right ear for all the screaming ones and watched the show.

There was also a footrace between a hot dog, a bottle of ketcup, and a shark...yes a shark...

Everything in the minor leagues is better than the majors be it racing, baseball, hockey, whatever because it has to be. It has to bring people in to survive whereas the others can go off the name recognition.

Hey Roger Clemens pitched in a minor league game, so I have no problems with Buschwackers.

Hell Gilland isn't even a regualar, so no regular wins yet.
