Pepsi 400 in Nov 2007? error or cat out of the bag? on a Catrol GTX sweepstakes page, the grand prize is listed as:
(1) Grand Prize: 4-day/3-night trip for two (2) to the 2007 Pepsi 400 race currently scheduled for November 2007 in Daytona, FL. Sooo, is that an error [oops] in the contest rules/prizes or did they slip and let the 'cat out of the bag' telling us that the Pepsi 400, held on the July 4th weekend for years, is gonna be moved in 2007 to be part of the chase and end the season where it began? See the contest and links on my Racing Contest page, it is towards the bottom as it ends 12/31/06.(3-7-2006)

That's fucking gay. Ruin another tradition you dumb fucks.

i dont like that. there isnt as much control over your destination at daytona than there is at homestead or somewhere.

couldn't agree more. one guy dumps you on the last lap, the rest go by and you lose the championship because a guy decided to go with one of his friends.

your gonna race daytona twice and both events pay the same points out so it dont matter when you race it so to me that arguement doesnt hold water

One things for certain here, it would make the last race of the season that much more interesting. Albeit a bit more dangerous as you'd have the championship contenders gunning for each other's bumpers, talk about a recipe for the big one. I'm not getting my hopes up though as I think this is more a misprint on the part of Castrol motor oil.

yeah so? Neither the 500 or the Pepsi 400 are held inside the chase playoff. one guy can finish last in either event and the result might not be as magnified as if it was the last race of the season, where you're putting the championship on the line. You get yourself caught in a big one and not of your making and you loose your championship hopes just like that. Homestead is the right track, is a mile and a half track and that's what the majority of the schedule has, so is only fitting that it ends there.

While I get both sides you can wreck just as easy at Homestead as you can at Daytona.

Rather see the finale be at Bristol. I dont like the idea of Daytona to end the season and then there it is again at the start.

Homestead gets better each year, eventually it'll be a track about as good as Atlanta is I think, so I like the season ending there.

I'm happy with the season ending at Homestead.

It's becoming a better and better race track with each passing race.

But if the final had to be somewhere else, I'd pick Charlotte, Atlanta, or Las Vegas.

if the july 4th race moves to dega or homestead I wouldnt mind the 400 being run at daytona. And like os and cr said you can wreck just as easily at either track.

and the only reason Kb likes Homestead is cause his roush boys are good there

UPDATE: been told by Daytona International Speedway reps that the Pepsi 400 will be run on July 7th, 2007 and NOT moved to November in 2007. The contest info has not been changed.(3-8-2007)

If Daytona becomes the last race of the season, then Homestead deserves to get two race dates. Only fair.

Maybe Pepsi's becoming the title sponsor of the Homestead finale?
