Get out of the fucking car and walk
and also:from yahoo.com Dear Fumes: According to this chart from Eartheasy.com, the most fuel-efficient speed for your car is roughly 55 mph, or 90 km/h. Increasing your speed from 55 mph to 75 mph boosts your fuel consumption a stunning 20 percent! You can boost your vehicle's fuel efficiency by as much as 30 percent simply by keeping it well maintained and driving it correctly. Here are a few suggestions: -Avoid jackrabbit starts, tailgating, or pumping the gas pedal. Starts and stops increase fuel consumption dramatically. -Take advantage of cruise control whenever possible -- driving at a steady speed saves fuel. -Try to avoid idling your car for more than a minute. -Keep your tires inflated and switch to radial, if you haven't already. -Reduce drag by keeping your windows rolled up, removing unused bike racks, and emptying your trunk. Optimal fuel efficiency varies from car to car, so check your manual for more suggestions. The best option, of course, is simply to drive less. You can do this by planning trips ahead of time to avoid peak traffic hours or doing your errands a little closer to home. there's also the DRAFTING theory lol. when you're in the highway just simply follow an 18 wheel trailer or rig. why? well when you're by yourself you're pushing the air with your pedal and is consumating gas as you do that. get behind a trailer and you won't be pushing the air as hard as you would if you're by yourself. get it? Also everytime you're waiting for the green light, just put your car in "N" or Neutral and that also saves you gas. |

What do you drive? Or do you drink a gallon of gas and walk 33 miles before you throw up? |

It says 28.2 for my Accord, but I don't think that accurate because I drive as fule effecient as possible and I get about 25-26. I think the original sticker estimated it got 28 MPG and now its 10 years old and has 160K miles, I'd expect it to lose a few MPG. |

17.2. Of my 30 minute drive to school, 20 minutes of it is spent where I can use cruise so that helps. I've also gotten pretty good at getting off the gas early and on the brakes late. It may not be much, but every little bit helps. |

The easiest way to do that is to own a car with a manual transmition. Driving a strait shift will get you get you 4 MPG alone, if you drive it right you could get 6 or 8 MPG better, but if you drive it wrong you could lose some MPG. |

14.3 mpg....i win! u need a nice $70 to fill up the tank....yay  oh and about the drafting theory...it doesnt work under normal driving because the car in front is not traveling fast enough to punch a big enoug hloe in the air..now if the guy in front was going around 100, then there would be a different story...(this applies to trucks also). |

how am i supposed to walk to jersey just about every week? i usualy take the subway or the bus anyways when im in the cuty or around home..no point in driving since the chances of winning the lottery is greater then finding a parking spot. |

Well the bigger cities were set up with mass transit much more in mind than a town like where I live. No subways, trains, cabs, and if you want to get a bus you'll still need a car to get to the closest bus stop. If I lived in New York or some big city, it'd be a lot different. |

u guys have to drive to a bus stop? thats crazy...cuz if u think about it...whats the point of taking a bus then some people here do skip the bus and drive to the subway station, but thats only to beat rush hour traffic (which is worse then hell). |
