Tony the 1st since 1940: the last Indiana native [born in] to win a race at Indy had been the late Wilbur Shaw, who won the Indy 500 in 1940. Shaw was born in nearby Shelbyville, just 20 miles from Stewart's hometown of Rushville [he lives in Columbus now].(Yahoo Sports)(8-8-2005)

Jeff Gordon at one point claimed to be from whatever town the race was in that week.

I read a quote by Ryan Newman that said something like "Gordon's not a Hoosier, he's just not proud of being from San Francisco."

Newman gets higher and higher up my list every week. :lmao:

He's been towards the top of mine since the start.

I've pretty much liked him since '02 straight. Nothing he's done I've disliked.

Wrecking Tony at New Hampshire in September of '03 ticked me off. I shouldn't have been mad at him for keeping Bill out of Victory Lane at Kansas but oh well. Free country, I'll do whatever the hell I want LOL.
