I may not root for him but I hate see anybody hit big and especially get knocked out. Hope all's all right, I know he was sitting and talking but still, when you get knocked out thats a bad deal.

What's apalling is that I've seen some people say today that Chad Knaus was "out of line shooing away cameras and reporters"...

I think those people are out of line for being allowed to think, much less talk.

Knaus was incensed with the timeliness of NASCAR's response to the accident.

"You come to these events and make a mistake as a team and get penalized for it, and there's a driver that's sitting on pit wall out there in need of an ambulance and NASCAR doesn't even send an ambulance down there, what happens to them?" Knaus said.

"I think it's ridiculous. We walked all the way from 39th pit stall into the garage area before we had any medical attention whatsoever."

NASCAR said two emergency personnel were on site, spoke with Johnson and that he declined treatment.

"Here's what we know, there were two EMT personnel on site and they spoke with Jimmie and Jimmie declined treatment, said he was fine," said NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston.

Can't argue with that. The dudes with the fire extinguishers acted like their thumb was up their rear end.

Johnson, woozy while sitting on the pit wall after the accident, was transported via helicopter to Methodist Hospital for further precautionary evaluation. He was treated, then released.

"So thank God for the soft walls and HANS device and everything. I'll be OK. I'll be scratching my head for the next day or two, though."

Crew chief Chad Knaus said he didn't think Johnson had suffered "any serious injuries," but that he was "definitely dizzy, he definitely blacked-out."

Johnson said he was unable to remember steering the car to the pits following the accident.

"I don't really remember coming from Turn 4 to the pits," he said. "I just remember kind of waking up on pit road the guys pulling me out of the car. So it's all good."

When Johnson pulled to a stop in his pit stall, the No. 48 Chevrolet was on fire underneath the hood. Smoke filled the cockpit as the crew rushed to extract Johnson from the car.

That's good news that he was released. He'll be feeling it tomorrow though.

Nice to see that wasn't any worse. Even though I hate JJ, I hate to see a driver have to deal with that

Like I said somewhere else, I'm sure he had the breathe knocked out of him and breathed in a lot of smoke. A vicious cycle, since when you get the air knocked out of you you're just inhaling smoke.

The bitch of it is, Jimmie was looking to break into the top 10 with 15 laps to go and a bad day seemed to maybe end up good, and then he bites the dust. FIFTEEN laps from the end and running good.

I don't expect Jimmie to run good at all next week but I hope one of my guys wins because it might actually be the first fucking race that I've seen the ending to since the Pepsi 400 and the first whole race that I've seen since...probably May something. Actually I saw the whole Pepsi 400 but that was because of the delay so that doesn't count. lol

JIMMIE JOHNSON:

HOW ARE YOU FEELING? “I had a few minutes to catch my breath but I just needed some time to get my bearings after the crash. They obviously took me in to the hospital for precautionary reasons which was fine and a good safe thing to do on our part. Yesterday (Monday) I took it easy and woke up this morning (Tuesday) full of energy and feeling great. I know I need to see (the doctor) tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday and run me through some tests but I am feeling awesome so I don’t anticipate any issues.”

Well, as long as he isn't lying just to keep his fans optimistic, I believe him and hope he feels awesome enough to get back to finishing top 5.
