Former Delegate of Q102

Vote Joe Bobs for Delegate of Q102. My Successes. Created ARC, which now boasts 85 individual members, 9 regions, and its own centralised forum, for which I am head admin. As Immigration and Officials Councillor, saw a rise in number of recruitment telegrams sent, both personally by me and by the region as a whole, and the overall number of people recruiting. Also saw a rise in regional numbers from 82 – 97. Brought order to the disorganised ambassador situation. Introduced the Q102 – Europa Alliance, opened embassy with POD, re-opened embassies with TPC and ASE, acted as ambassador to the GRA, Scroll Islands, Europa and POD. Successfully fulfilled all duties as Immigration and Officials Councillor and Deputy Delegate, whilst also running ARC and being a Congressman for the GRA. Opened the Q102 University. Second highest posts per day after Nev, and fourth highest poster in the region. Continued running the Q102 Awards. Wrote and passed the AdSpamming Recruitment Act, the Ammendment to the Recruitment Act, and proposed the mentor scheme. All whilst siting my A levels. Imagine what I can do with a free summer! My Aims. Restore Q102 to former glory. At least 150 nations by end of first term (October). This will be met by ensuring that all Councillors meet recruitment targets, and also by adopting Zak’s scheme of endorsing new nations in the region. Build international relations. As a citizen of five regions and a member of twenty-three regional forums, I can spread the fame of Q102, hopefully opening more embassies. Aims 1 and 2 should increase regional activity, which is already high. Continue to build on previous successes. Expand RP section to cater for wider tastes. Introduce sub-forums for Past, Modern, Future and Fantasy RPs. My Council Delegate: Joe Bobs Deputy Delegate: Pacifist Cowards Foreign Affairs Councillor: FluffyPinkBunnyGirl Internal Affairs Councillor: Pacifist Cowards Immigration and Officials Councillor: TBC Hospitality Councillor: Lamedud Security Councillor: Aaronyne Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image |

 I love those quotes. I can fully back you in the campaign JB, but 150 members?! Is this a promise you can keep? Even the statistics of everyone recruiting and staying, plus your international standing would surely make it extremely hard to recruit an extra 60 members (and hold onto the rest) in 3 months? |

I will personally put a lot of time into recruitment, and will work closely with the I&O Councillor (who is still to be confirmed) to make sure all Ministers and Councillors recruit. The Recruitment Ladder, Recruitment Hall of Fame and Ammended Recruitment Act provide a good deal of motivation, and we have already seen some effect on recruitment from these measures. In theory, recruitment should grow exponentially as more active members are recruited. Hopefully more non-Council members can be encouraged to recruit too. As for holding onto our current members, this is going to take effort from the whole region. However, other factors, such as a growing international image, should lead to an increase in activity. |

Here's a question; "How do you feel about me, Muppets0, and my future role in the region?" |

I think your role, Muppets0, will be essential to Q102 if we are to continue even existing at any level. Without you, we would be sucked into some vortex and be little more than a cosmic singularity. :D |

How will you show that you are commited to this region when you are spread so far? And also how will you show that you will not be unduly affected by outside influences as head of the government? Also how do you think our "international image" currently lacks? |

First thankyou to JB for such a informative manefesto. I too have questions though and much are like nevs. I must say, you rock, but it worries me that you are willing to do so much of this yourself, Q102 is a massive region, with alot of demanding aspects to it, theres a lot to do, do you think that your 'I will handle that' approach will really work? Secondly, you plan to keep the council almost the same from the current delegatship, do you not think that new blood, and fresh ideas needs to be injected into the council. Dont mistake me, I am more then happy with the current council, but it has consisted of the same members pretty much for about 6 months now. What are your thoughts on this? |

Firstly, Nev's questions: "How will you show that you are commited to this region when you are spread so far? And also how will you show that you will not be unduly affected by outside influences as head of the government?" In response to the first question, I think my time as Deputy Delegate and I&O Councillor provides evidence enough for this. I set up ARC and the forum whilst simultaneously performing the duties of my department, and more. I've also been a Congressman in the GRA during this time. In this time, the I&O department has been more active than any other (no offence to other councillors). What's more, I've now left school, so have a lot more free time on my hands. And, at long long last, I will have my laptop tomorrow, so will never have to compete for computer time. As for the second question, if a situation were to arise which would produce a conflict of interests, I would seek assistance from the Council or the region as a whole. For example, I would not use my position as delegate to benefit ARC. I like to keep ARC business and Q102 business completely separate. "Also how do you think our "international image" currently lacks?" As stated in the "A Kick Up the Q" thread, and in discussion with LD, I believe the most successful regions are those which occupy a niche in the NS world. Many have an instant source players if they represent a nationality or RL region, such as Canada or Europa. However, one must also make sure the region's identity is not too specific or one will alienate the masses. Thus we need a fairly general niche. The crazy region has been suggested, but may perhaps alienate others. Personally, I was attracted to Q102 because it was "the friendly region" and I think this needs to be restored, hence I included a reference to it in the new recruitment TG. Also, our role as an international mediator needs to be restored. I am a great believer in internationalism, and I believe the path to success for Q102 is by greater international recognition. If we were known as the region that solved the conflict of "region A and region B" or "defender A and invader B" we'd attract more diplomats, have a more active forum and be more attractive to new players. Slightly long-winded, sorry. I was trying to illustrate my though process. :) On to Zak's questions. "I must say, you rock, but it worries me that you are willing to do so much of this yourself, Q102 is a massive region, with alot of demanding aspects to it, theres a lot to do, do you think that your 'I will handle that' approach will really work?" Firstly, thankyou. Secondly, I don't want to hog roles and responsibilities. True, there are one or two which I particularly enjoy, but I have always offered and made an effort to share work out amongst others. The problem is that usually no one else wnats it. Frankly, I enjoy most of it, so don't mind, and if it benefits the region it needs doing. A problem only arises if I'm absent. So yes, I would love to see more people taking on more responsibilites. I've been trying to do this, by offering embassies to newcomers such as Maladieshie and Caliscabetta, who is doing a great job as ambassador to POD. This relates to Nev's question about me spreading my responsibilities. At ARC, I've always tried to share responsibility and power amongst as many members as possible, which is now coming into effect, for example, a player called Master Hoyle is now fully in control of the CyberNations side of ARC (called ARCA), so I have little to do with that. Plus the board is co-run by five admins including myself. My role is sort of a Head Ambassador, really. "Secondly, you plan to keep the council almost the same from the current delegatship, do you not think that new blood, and fresh ideas needs to be injected into the council. Dont mistake me, I am more then happy with the current council, but it has consisted of the same members pretty much for about 6 months now. What are your thoughts on this?" Well, let's look at the chief aim of the last Council: Increase regional size by increased recruitment and higher activity. This has been fully achieved. True, a slight fall has occurred over the past fortnight, but NS is subject to a decline in activity over summer which hasn't hit us too hard. Regardless, the Council met their aims. They were successful, and so I see no need to replace them. LD has set into motion several schemes in Hospitality which need finishing, so he needs to be kept on to complete those schemes. FA, under Bunnies, saw the Q102-Europa Alliance and an increase in diplomatic activity, including the re-opening of several embassies. Security was stalled by inactivity, but in his election campaign, Aaronyne made plans for Security. These were not able to be put through last term, so I think this term could be his chance to revitalise the department. If elected, I will recommend AFX as a Minister due to his experience in the field. Pacifist Cowards, in my opinion, has shown a great dedication to Q102, and has in depth knowledge of the region and NationStates as a whole. He's highly active, and alwyas enthusiastic, which is why he will be Deputy Delegate if I am elected. As for I&O, I will, sadly, be leaving the department, but will still keep a watchful eye on the place, and still recruitment like a crazy man. Councillor is yet to be confirmed. |
