This is curently being discussed in Parliament, but I think everyone should have a say on it. Should we keep the political parties? The Coalition government has worked well, and has removed the division that political parties created. Activity and regional population have increased. We don't have enough active numbers to effectively run a partisan system, as the voting public were all party members in the last election. We could always reintroduce parties if the region was big enough and active enough. That reads as a little biased. Sorry, but I can't think of many reasons to keep them! Oh, and someone should probably say this. Nev, you were right. :P |

I totally agree. I think the main reason i had a 66% swing in my favour was due to the fact i was the leader of the bigger party. To be honest i think it gave me an unfair advantage going into the election. I don't think we should ban political parties in an offical way through the law as this will be against the political freedoms that makes Q102 special. However i think member's of both parties should try to come to an agreement on this subject. |

Like I said in the other thread, I'm for dissolving the parties. I agree with RoA about not banning parties, but we're working well at the moment, and the phrase 'why fix what ain't broke?' comes to mind. As an aside point, I voted in the election based on how successful the councillor line-up each candidate proposed would be. Party allegiance didn't come into it. :) |

I don't think there's any need to be formal about it and write a law; that's not very Q102-ish. :P |

Very quick answers coming due to lack of time so here goes. 1. the government at the mo is working very well, I am pleased to ee such a active government overall. 2. Party systems were never not allowed, but as JB said, activity in this region changes so much, there is rarely enough citizens to make it work. 3. Yes was right, but with a lot more experience, and the 'been there, done that' experience, he was bound to be. Overall, no I dont think we need parties |
