As a new nation in this region, I am interested in hearing the agendas of all parties vying for regional offices. Please feel free to email me so that i may review the agendas and possibly join the party most matching the needs of Caliscabetta.

You brng up an incredibly interesting point CB.

Cuurently, we are in a Coalition Government, formed from both the political parties. Will the parties ever return? We don't quote know yet. Now, I have to run off for my tea. I'll explain more when I'm done, unless someone beats me to it.

edit: Right then.

There were too main parties: The Perpetual Party People (PPP) and the United Opposition Coalition (UOC). The former was the original, and the UOC was formed much later. PPP members included Nevareion, Zakaroo, FluffyPinkBunnyGirl, Pacifist Cowards, Anime Fandom X, and Aaronyne. The UOC was started by Lamedud and Peachydom, and was later led by me.

There wasn't much difference between the parties, to be honest. The only really divisive isuse was neutrality. The UOC wanted Q102 to remain neutral, whilst the PPP wanted us to be less neutral. The PPP were more popular, probably because they had more experience in government. In fairness to us at the UOC, we did very well in a short amount of time, and grew in numbers quite rapidly.

The Coalition government was formed because Q102 once stood at 180 nations, and eventually dropped as low as 80. This was a widespread problem across NS that we still are in the wake of. To combat this situation, it was decided we should avoid squabbling and unite under one government. The election between me and Aaronyne was the start of this period, in early April. We were the two party leaders, but party politics had been dissolved. Although voting did align to party loyalty. <_<

There you go! A political history of Q102 over the last six months!

Interesting...so what is the purpose of the UOP and the PPP? or are they no longer active? or am I missing something completely?

Basically, we had a short-live foray into the realms of party politics, rendered irrelevent imho by practically every eligable voter already being a party member. The coalition govt. was formed to increase stability, although members from both parties have grown inactive, to the point where I am beginning to question the feasability of party politics in Q102 at the present time...

PC, I agree. I believe I mentioned this in Parliament, or in a Council Announcements thread. I know Nev is against political parties.

Perhaps the time has come to vote on whether to dissolve the parties?
