Bringing fabulousness closer

All original NevTM phrases available by appointment.

Alliances are about more than just invading and defending. There is a great deal of inter regional politics as well as several blocs of regions that overlap. Much of it revolves around the big pacific regions as they are the source of all nations and the nbiggest. Founder made regions are either choosing to ally with one or another of them or seek to gain influenece. Regions sometimes attempt to get a government elected or in power that is favourable to their bloc in both founded and feeder regions. Also there are initiatives like the wiki and the Pacific inspired Gallery of NS that are often multi region ventures. Q102 regularly gets invited to support one or another cause, or join an alliance because of our size and standing. I get the impression that some other regions consider us to be a potentially important region in world politics should we chose to taake that path. The recent downturn in game play has been discussed worldwide and one consensus that has emerged is that these inter regional alliances and conflicts are desirable as they keep us all in contact with one another and give something to do to those who want to be soldiers or spies. I personally think that it could be really interesting to join in. At the same time I think that Q102 is unique not because it is neutral but because it is so open and friendly. We welcome potential enemies as warmly as potential friends. I think that these things do not have to be lost by not being neutral. The important thing is to be principled and to be what we are, Q102ers. I don't think we should be building an army and sending out spies but I wonder if perhaps we shouldn't be a bit more engaged with the world and maybe seek to join a pact or bloc in order to have security as we do so. That group security would, in my opinion allow us to stay the same as we are. We are already a cross roads for many regions. Diplomats arriving here often then make contact with one another's regions as a result of meeting here. That is something I think could only grow. At the same time engaged regions often have more stable populations as they attract the long term players who otherwise would never know about you. As I say, purely a personal point of view that I can say as a result of not being in government and I would be very interested to hear responses, not just from experienced multi region players but also from all Citizens.

Thanks for that Nev, very informative on issues I confess to know little of.

Obviously, no region wishes to set itself as a pariah region; as insular and unwelcoming, which I certainly don't think we are.

The UOC does not oppose inter-regional involvement, but we feel that this can be achieved better by diplomatic relations, not by militant ones, and these can be achieved whilst maintaining neautrality.

I, and I can speak for the UOC here, certainly agree with you that Q102's individuality extends from its warm, welcoming atmosphere. That's what attracted me here. I also liked the thought of a nature reserve. :P But what I feel is more important is what made me stay. That I found what was promised in that first telegram from Nev was true. I was welcomed with open arms and was instantly intograted as a Q102er.

This is still true, as I'm sure people like Blue Tiger and Valoron would agree with. Emphasising our individuality isn't just the key to recruitment, it is the key to gaining recognition on the world stage. What will impress the 'big boys' about us is being different, not just being one of the crowd.

I would first like to point out this thread was started 2 days ago, I apologise I for one havent been online for those two days.

I have read through some of what has been said, however like I usually do, I am going to speak my mind then go ;) to bare with me.

I think it is unfair to say the PPP arent doing our jobs. First, I am the 3 longest standing nation in Q102, after arriving, I was joined a party and actually was Delegate 3 months after I joined Q102. Our Delegate has a lot of prior experience in NS and is coping very well in hard circumstances. I also wish to make clear that Bunnies has been deputy first-council person and Beaches has lots of exprience in the Pacifics. Both Anime and Munster have familiarised themselves with this region very well AND always give 110%. I would also like to point out the PPP has a full member capacity (in governmnet I mean)

Second I also wish to question, and please excuse my bluntness, I mean to make no enemies but this is IC, how long the UOC plan to hide behind a certain neutral body in Q102 who is actually holding the government to account more then the opposition? perhpas before critisising us, they should look closer to home :P :P
(OOC-Luv you all really  )

As far as neutrality is concerned I think that some apsect of the Free port etc are still very much needed. However Q102 has gone past the point where they can hide behind barriers. We have several big players in this region, all watching and taking part in what we are doing. I think the PPP has made it clear we are for looking at the wider world, and where possible, making more alliances, more friendships etc. We enjoy a very active foreign affairs section with active diplomats. This is partly down to the PPPs continuing hard efforts for this region.

We all know that recruitment has been a issue for some time in Q102. I have looked into possibilities which could be introduced to aid recruitment, however its often met with little enthusiasm and support. I do find myself asking what else can be done with this issue, and in short I find my answer to be, nothing. Dont mistake my statement for someone who is giving up, I am not, however it seems that I am up against a wall as far as recruitment goes. I dont have the time to sit and recruit for hours on end like I did used to, and neither, so it would seem do the Council. I apologise from the bottom of my heart that in thhat sense, I am failing in my duty, however, suggestions are more then welcome from any one regarding this issue.

I am sorry that my points are fairly vague, if someone has a specific question for me then please do ask away. However I should make it clear I wont be online until Sunday afternoon now, so please dont mistake my inactivity as anything but RL taking over ;)

Stiring words Councillor!

A neutral body? Moi? I do hope not :o [/double entendre]

Your point about recruitment is well made though. Perhaps UOC members might gain votes by volunteering to help now and then :D

I have to say I am impressed by the contributions from both parties so far. I look forward to the response to Zak.

In response to the accusation that the UOC is hiding behind Mr. Paxman, I would say that is very unfair. If you would kindly consider the start of this thread, it was the UOC that really took a bashing, and moreso in other threads. It is only through our well-argued and logical responses that we have come under less fire towrds the end, because our arguments have made sense.

I would not question the experience of the PPP, especially of you Zak. I would like to stress though, that just becausre the UOC has not been in power, it does not make us inexperienced. As individuals, our members are very expeienced in governemental aspects of the region.

Whether RL has been a great demand on PPP members time or not is irrelevant. Yes, we may sympathise, and I do, but this does not bring results. The UOC has been far more active recently, and activity is what is needed from a government.

The one criticism that does indeed hold true of the UOC is the fact that we are still a small party. However, this will change in time. Our membership increased 33% in the last week! ( :P ) If this trend continues, we will soon fill the required numbers.

Well, some excellent points have been made in the past few comments!
I do agree that at the beginning of this thread, the UOC were under a certain amount of constructive criticism, and perhaps some of the questions being posed to the PPP now have already been dealt with by our esteemed rivals.

As to experience, the PPP fully recognises that several members of the UOC do have experience in Government - no one can dispute this - but it is also true that the PPP members as a collective have much more experience.

Regarding activity, it is true that RL has been an issue for the PPP recently, accurately highlighted by the resignation of Nev in December. It is also true that the UOC has been more active as a party of late. However, can the UOC guarantee this level of activity on a long-term basis? The PPP have successfully governed this region for many months and maintained an overall good level of activity. Can the UOC promise as much?

The UOC does indeed promise this, and we would like to be able to prove this following the next elections!

(OOC: Finally, something I can make a point on...)

On the subject of experiance, I was the UN delegate for the UIE from the time it was created, to the time my country was forced to be absorbed by Valoron. During the time I did my best to be as active as I could in a new region filled with new nations. Though we were weak, through my interactions with other countries, we begain getting reconized, until, once again, I became a part of Valoron (OOC: sometimes, RL sucks  )

Yes thankyou BT for your comments, they are really appreciated.

I would actually argue that if the electorate looks at political experience, they will find that members of the OUC have actually left this game altogether and such in the past. This showing the affects of RL and it also points out the issue that if its happened once, what will stop it happening again

[again OOC-I undersstand why ppl left and such, and I am glad your all back, this is a arguementative point and not a personal attack]

As my collegue said, the PPP recognise that the UOC are becomming very strong and a established opposition, one which has been mroe active of late. However I will go back to my old saying that this is a game, and that when studying towards G.C.S.E's, A-Levels, degrees, which at least 4 members of the PPP are, its hard to dedicate the time one would want to, to Q102. However rest assured we are still working very hard, we are still completing our manifesto pledges, we are still working for Q102 in many aspects, both obvious and unobvious.
