I think we need to firmly establish our position on all the issues regarding neutrality, because it could swing the election. This is what I have so far:

FOR neutrality
AGAINST destroying presently existing alliances

Please post any ideas on the subject and I'll edit this post to include them.

Also, I'd like to say a goodbye to CM, our Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister. He was an exemplory party member, who worked tirelessly to promote and advance the UOC. He was dedicated to his position and to his friends in the UOC. He will be sorely missed. sorry that sounded so much like an obituary. I was trying to sound official.

This leaves the position of Shaodw Foriegn Affairs Minister open. Who wants it? Also, I guess we should all take an equal responsibility for the VoP now. I though Peachy could be the official editor though, what with the Q102 telegraph and position as Party Whip and so forth. But we can all contribute.

Any other issues we need to bring up?

CM's left NationStates! He's put a thing in the Region and Culture forum. Have a look in there. You get a very special mention.

Ok. Serious time guys. We need to recruit some more members. Its gonna be tough without a rock like CM. I think we should target anyone without a political party or the more inactive members of the PPP. Marketing campaign. Ideas?

I don't think targeting any PPP members would be all that wise. It seems a bit undehand. If any wish to join the UOC then we should welcome them, but targeting them could make bad blood between the two parties.

We need to realise our key strengths and weaknesses. Our strengths include active members with good knowledge and experience in Q102, and this can cover us for our main weakness, our lack of governmental experience as the UOC.

Our stance on neutrality is important too. If any PPP members do defect, that may be the issue to pull them. I thought maybe Nev might join on that, especially as we're now a respectable and serious party. But I think he's happy being neutral for now.

We could point out that PC isn't an experienced leader, unlike Nev was before, but this could backfire as I'm not either. And we shouldn't bring up PC's recent inactivity as he couldn't help that, so it's below the belt.

Activity is a real strength. I think me and LD are two of the most active Q102ers. We're also both judges, which gives us some gravitas. Also Peachy's experience. And BT is a brilliant example to show that we welcome new members.

Any more ideas?

Is the question always to maintain 'good relationships' with the PPP. In theory it is practical and helps Q102 run along smoothly - but after all, we are an opposition. A bit of rivalry never did anyone any harm.

We are not going to win the election by holding the PPP's hand.

No that's not what I'm suggesting at all. Political debate yes, stealing their members no. If we make our party attractive enough then their members will want to join us anyway. I think aiming at politically un-aligned people is better than targeting PPP members. I doubt many PPP members would defect anyway.

Now the PPP has lost Nev and Zak, two of their most experienced members, they're a much weaker opponent anyway. That factor could help us hugely.

New idea! We can promise voters the return of the UN vote, which I haven't seen in a very long time. When I joined citizens could vote on every UN resolution, now we're lucky to see one. Bring back the vote! That can be one of our slogans. :D

Well we should do that then.

PC's stepped down as delegate now too. Maybe we could suggest that the PPP is crumbling. The UOC is the party of the future!

God, I have no idea. It always seemed to be Nev, Zak, and PC to me. Bunnies maybe?

Bunnies is probably their most active member, and maybe most central. AFX is still a prominent member too. Aaronyne seems to have taken a central role too as party secretary, and he's probably the most loyal and avid PPPer. He's Foreign Affairs Councillor too. But who shall be delegate?

edit: I'm re-thinking on targetting PPP members. In fact, I've fully come around to LD's way of thinking. I think we'll struggle to win when they have 8 members to our 4. We may be the stronger party, but it's the votes that count. Their members are:

Anime Fandom X
FluffyPinkBunnyGirl
Knorfladshgeff
Valaron
Pacifist Cowards
Republic of Aaronyne
Sandy White Beaches
Zakaroo

Next to our:

Lamedud
Joe Bobs
Blue Tiger
Peachy

As for active non-party members, I can think of:

Nevareion
Schotze

All the other activity comes from ambassadors, who cannot vote. In other regions they can you know. I'm running for congress in the GRA.

Hmm... well, I am opposed to bad blood, I have to say targeting people may be the only way to go.

However, we could NOT do that, and try to win the election without it. Our chances may be significantly lowered, but it wan's put us in a bad light. Then perhaps next election could be easier.

But BT, even if we got the two non-partisan people on our side, we'd still only have six votes. The PPP would have eight and would win. Therefore we need to bring PPP members to our side, otherwise winnning the election is physically impossible. Well, unless:
a) we got a few inactive people to vote, which would be difficult to say the least. There may be a few though, like quarter pounders or such
B) we persuaded people from other regions to join Q102, and then snatched them up into the UOC
c) we push through a law that lets ambassadors vote, like many other regions have. I'm firmly FOR this as I think some ambassadors, like Dipes, Tag, New Caldari, Parrrtay and more know the region very well and spend a lot of time here, and should be allowed to join political parties and vote. I haven't made my mind up as to whether they should be allowed to hold governmental positions. I figure maybe not. If Nev is reading this, maybe you know why we don't allow ambassadors such rights, when many other regions do.

So, we have to target some PPP members unless one of those three options becomes realistic. I don't like it either BT but it's our only choice.
