Ok, well since we bombed in the election, the idea of opposition partys seems all the more tempting. I presume in the interests of democracy this idea should be used, and already myself, calm minds and peachydom are interested in setting one up together. If this could be given the go ahead, we could get right down too it straight away! (oh and if any non government members are interested, PM me - our ideas will be pretty much taken from the peachduck manifesto with input from members) I would suggest a few rough guidelines, like for example parties stating their manifesto and having a certain numbers of members, but other than that I dont see any problems. So Nev, you ready? |

It needs no permission from the Government lamedud, there is no law or element of the constitution that forbids parties at all. I suggest using Regional Affairs for organising your party. If it gets unwieldy we can look at a new syb-forum as a separate OOC issue ok? |

I don't like the idea of parties. Noone can have the same oppinion on all things as his party-fellows. I'd rather be my own opposition, but when we agree on a topic I will work together with you to make Q102 an even better region. |

also forming an opposition doesnt really do a lot, you will more of an organised opposition the government granted, but virtually all of the laws are good and have been made that way, anyone can voice their pleasure or displeasure and forming an opposition may cause you to feel you must be against all laws, and then the region will go nowhere On the other hand, forming an opposition would be a laugh!! :D |

I would prefer if we continued to work together instead of splitting into parties. Not that there is something wrong with that in general, i just fear sooner of later it will lead to conflicts. |

well i like to think of it as as way to get more people into the government....there is only so many seats and people are left out. this way more can feel that they have a part to play, even if we all like a new bill we can still vote in favor. it can also start up a new realm of R.P. i remember talk about how people dislike the numbercrunching RP now we can have more political RP for the region as a whole. i bet most of us has seen the new were the two sides of a govenment just sit back an yell at each other. well here is our chance, and it moves away for confilct/war RP that some dilike we are not here to stall the government just add some flavor to it. |

ALL HAIL PEOPLE POWER! Interesting views there.. hey, its up to you. I believe getting organised is a great way of pushing new laws and meaning something. And yes, part of the reason I'm doin this is for the FUN! Ok, well we'll post a manifest on the 22nd, look out for it! General Lamedud (of the yet un-named party) |

Lamedud are you happy to do so in the Regional Affairs forum or do you think that a new Political Affairs (or something) forum in Parliament House would be a good idea? |

Well obviously a forum for opposition parties would be pretty cool... its up to you nev... A question tho - What else would we include tho apart from a meeting place for the opposition? Another reason how cool this thing is gonna be - party politics - ppl getting sacked, people switching, leadership races, corruption, scandal.. ohhh.. im almost wetting myself talking about it.. |

I would imagine the PPP would use it too and it would be where manifestos and so on are posted. We have been considering altering the way Regional Affairs is used. The idea of a Political Affairs forum is that it would be for all political Rp/Parliament related stuff, not just opposition parties. I'll need to talk to Zak first though [/admin] |
