Hello people of Q102. I am Carops, Prime Minister of WWSETI, with whom you are allied. In my other incarnation, I am also the leader of the NS Centrist Party, a new political party in the game. We were wondering if anybody here in Q102 would be interested in establishing a regional branch of the party. Your branch would be totally independent of the Party but would be part of a network of other, similarly-minded branches. The Party does not wish to interfere in the internal politics of your region either.
If Q102 sets up a branch, we'd be delighted to make a branch office for you on our party forum

http://s13.invisionfree.com/NS_Centrist_Pa...dex.php?act=idx

and you would be able to vote on party policies and for party leadership, while taking part in debates. We'd be honoured if anybody would like to set up a branch of the party. We have already got branches in 3 regions, having only been set up yesterday, and we will hopefully soon have a branch in Nasicournia. Thanks for reading. Bye

Thankyou for that kind offer. I am unsure as to whether, right now that my conflict in some way with the free-port act, however, this may soon be being revised to perhaps after then I could look at joining.

I am pleased to hear, on a slightly different note that things seem to be ticking by nicely over there, if you check out our embassy, you will see update from a couple of weeks ago aswell as a official statement from the government of Q102. ;) I have still been calling in even though I have been quieter lol.

Thanks again for the offer, some other people may also be interested?

Welcome Carops. An interesting proposal no doubt. I have some questions though, intended in a friendly debating kind of way :)

Point of confusion:

and

Isn't asking for volunteers to form a branch of a party from another region in and of itself interfering in the internal affairs of another region? Also if it has a unified leadership and centralised policy making as implied by:

you would be able to vote on party policies and for party leadership, while taking part in debates

then the whole claim of not interefering in internal affairs doesn't stand up does it? The policy would be determined outside our region and passed down to the local party. If that party gained power here then there is every chance that it would take orders from party central surely?

Fair points. Basically, we would like to create branches in many regions, all of which have total autonomy. By not interfering in regional politics, I mean that the Party will not ry to influence decisions made in Futaba Aoi. The branches, we hope, are home-grown political groups who are free to operate as they wish within their own region with no input from the party. Each branch will have its own manifesto, ideas, members etc and will be able to vote for an overall Party Leader on our lovely new forum (sorry for the advert). The Party leadership will not interfere in regional affairs.
What we would really like to do is give the centrists of NS a voice, as we feel that they are pretty much silenced at the moment by the very vocal extremes on either side of their viewpoint. The Party is a network of individual parties which all debate different issues on our forum and take part in the decisions made by the party as a whole.
If a branch set up here in Futaba Aoi was to be set up, there would be no reason as to why it would stand for power here within this region. That would entirely depend upon your own regional politics. By inviting you to set up a branch, I aimed to find out whether there was sufficient appitite here in this great region for Centrist Policies. The Party will act as a mouthpiece for centrists across NS. It is up to the branches, however, to decide what this mouth is saying.
Thanks for your questions, They definately taxed by brain. I realise that there are some problems with our idea, but you could think of the party branch as something entirely different from the regional political systems athat you have here...

Thank you for your answer :)

I do think you will need to address the fundamental contradiction in your position of independant but with one leader and a joint forum if you are to make any headway in other regions. Your system is so open to an unscrupulous leadership using it to try and gain control of multiple democratic regions that I think you will find very few are happy to let you do this without controls on your activities. Regardless of your intentions there remains the fundamental problem that a multi-regional party is by definition going across lines of sovereignty. If you had gone for organising a congress of existing parties - a way of sharing ideas and so on between independant groups each with their own policy making and leadership you might have had more success. However since you have gone for a federalist idea where representatives come into a region to set up a branch I think you are going to run into a lot of problems with regions that worry about the very significant stumbling blocks I have highlighted.
I hope you understand what I am getting at and that it helps you formulate a way forward that overcomes the issues raised.

Lol, well at the very least I have enjoyed discussing it with you :)
Good luck resolving that. I would look to the conference model instead of the federal model as a starting point if I were you.
