I would certainly give it serious consideration if I felt I had the support of other citizens.

Serious consideration? I'd have to question why it hasnt been done before. Isnt a one party state a dictatorship? Is the reason you want to implement opposition parties because of the Peachduck coalitions manifesto?

No. I was simply answering Zak's question.

The original constitution of the region required that there be political parties. It failed. Nobody was interested and it seperated Parlaiment from those members who were not interested. The constiturion was re written to allow people to participate regardless of groupings. So it has been done before but at that time it didn't work.

Thank you Aaronyne for your kind words of support.

I LOVE IT

the system we were/are running was a "true democracy" were everyong had one vote, no parties, just postions tailered to regional needs.....the "democratic" system we run in RL is closer to a republic the a democracy

anyhoo questions for the canidence

in referance to the near intorduction of policical parties will there be a change in our constitution, and systems in place to give the offical opposition any govenmentel power?

My answer would be that I see no need to specifically allow for the groupings/organisations of free individulas in the constituition. If citizens wish to form parties they can. If they wish to be independant they may. Either way they can post and vote in Parliament. Parties grow naturally within a system. The system should not be designed to force their appearance - that is a hard lesson we learnt early in the history of Q102.
Besides, before we can properly judge whether particular allowance should be made in the future is to see what an organised oppositon in Parliament is like - we have yet to see on in Q102.
