Bringing fabulousness closer

As we become a larger and more complex region it gets harder for new nations to find their feet. To this end I would like to start a Beginners' Guide to Q102. This is to be contained in this thread and moved to the Start Here Forum when some articles are ready. Please do not post comments and chat here, only guide articles which may be about anything you think is useful information for a newly arriving nation. If you feel you can add more than an existing article does feel free to cover the same ground again. |

A Brief Overview of the Government and Constitution Q102 is now on it's third Constitution and is formed as a Republic. In this republic all citizens are entitled to propose, debate and vote on Bills in the Parliament. To become a citizen requires that you have a permanently resident nation in our region and that you have registered for this forum, that's all there is to it! The Republic elects a First Councilman Delegate to rule the region every three months. The Delegate appoints other Citizens to be members of the Council of Q102 and this body is the Government of the region. As you may see from the constitution the Council is answerable to Parliament which has the final say in all matters by free vote. All the offices of the Councli and the Parliament are found here. The Laws and Treaties of the region are kept in a special archive. Once there they may only be edited for spelling mistakes or if made obsolete by a new law. Perhaps the most important piece of legislation after the Constitution is the Free Port Act which declares the region to be neutral in all foreign policy affairs and which is a defining document of our culture. |

Q102 prides itself on its fun-loving and easy-going attitude (but not it's grammer and spelling as you'll see). This means that newcomers are always welcome in all but a few threads (don't worry about these, they're usually pretty boring anyway). Don't be intimidated by the fact most threads turn into an off topic discussion, that's what usually happens around here! The admins are friendly and will certainly give you a bit of leeway. The important thing is to have fun, it's why you're on this forum, and we're sure as not going to stop you. So eat, drink, chat and be merry! Thank you! |

Be sure to introduce your country in your own thread in the Please Start Here forum. Tell us a bit about your country, and you'll be sure to get many welcomes and hellos! If you see that there are others online, come to the Chat and Games Room, we love to chat about random stuff! Also, check out the map of Q102. If you're a permanent resident of q102, you are welcome to claim a spot at the Office of Claims (make sure you look at the Climate Zones too, or you may end up in the Arctic!!!). |
