The crowd gathered at the museam talked loudly as they waited for the curator to take center stage, though there was still time before hand. A red ribbon was spread across one of the wing entry ways, where the new artifacts had been placed on display. Even from here, one could see the piece at center stage, encased in glass, slightly obsucred by the light that reflected off it's casing.Even so, it was impressive, carked from the bone of some ancient creature with detailed designs of warriors on the field of battle. Even as old as it was, it gave off a polished shine and seemed unstained by the ravages of time. The Horn of Vahalla, as it had been identified by the runes engraved around the rim. It was the most impressive peice that had come with the shipment, while the other things that adorned the walls of the room were never the less historically priceless, swords shields, and spears of the time period, a few tools, samples of carved woodwork, and even a viking long boat were on display. Unfortunatly, the horn carrier with it a legend, and as with most legends in this city, it is assumed that there is at least some truth to it. As such, it is often the case that such pieces of art are natural magnets for trouble. Which is probably why the curator was so stressed this day. Or, maybe, it was the group of "Heroes" present who gave him the feeling of imminante disaster.

"Must you stand so out in the open?" said the Curator to Titan, "The exhibits have been secured and no one tried to break in last night, is your presense really necisary anymore?" He had been making such comments for the past hour, as the cutting of the ribbon drew nearer, it was obvious that he wanted the 'riff raff' out of his museam. The damages that had been caused the last time had made the thought of heroes synonymous with 'flesh eating bacteria' at this point, and since they were so close to the unvailing, he felt that their presence was only hurting the museams reputation with the unpopularity public opinion of protochildren had taken.

"Look, for the umteenth time, I'm here on orders," said Titan, clearly miffed that he was once again on guard duty for a boring ceramony. He could spot Raphael across the room. For some reason, the angel had shown up today, which he found odd. Usually he disappeared for weeks at a time. He was only part time, so he supposed it was acceptable, but usually he showed up when trouble was about to go down. Good, knocking a few heads together would put him in a better mood.

***

Raphael looked at the weapons that adorned the walls, slightly intrigued by some of the runes inscribed. He didn't often have the time to admire such things. As time had gone by, he was feeling more and more a unsaid purpose to his existance, an almost gravitational pull, though he could not fully explain it, just as he could not explain his sword, armor and past. It was a mystery to him.

His train of thought was broken as he felt a chill run up his spine, not exactly danger, but it felt like soething unatural had just passed through him. He turned, looking around for a sign of something. But whatever it was, it was beyond his capacity to see. A little disturbed, he scanned the crowd waiting, unsure of why he felt the need to be here.

***

William looked at the angel, unseen in his incorporial form, savoring the stange feel his lifeforce gave off. His life as a ghost had given him more incite on the nature of life and death, not really in a religious sense, he could no more say god existed then a living man, but the fact that he was dead gave him a different view on the living that at times was interesting. He found that each person had their own feeling, he supposed one could call it spirit, soul, or lifeforce. It didn't really matter, he could just tell people apart by it. Most people in the crrowd gave off a bland feeling, suttle variations between individual, but all in all, little to notice. Then there were the protochildren. They appeared in random dots, in the crowd, giving off a sense of spice, some more dulled for the unmanifested, while the active ones were like lifting a lid off of ginger and cinnimon, much more noticable against the backdrop. There were also a few people who's essense seemed to give off an almost satin and perfume feel, though he had yet to identify what caused it. Then there was Raphael, who while carrying a definate human feel, was laced with something else that he couldn't place. It was almost as if someone had distilled a drops of liquid sunshine and pured it on him, it was very unique and almost warm to him, a sesation he enjoyed considering he could no longer feel warmth or cold.

Absently he wondered if he could scare the crowd. Since joining up with Ra and his band of monsters, he had laid off the hauntings, but every so often...

Caine wandered through the crowd looking here and there and at this and that. This stuff never really interested him. He was more concerned with the future and making sure the people around him would still have one. He used his nose and his telepathy to scan the room for anything unusual that might mean trouble. Ra felt that something might try to take the Horn as it might actually contain the ability to summon the Hordes of Asgard. Even after everything he had seen and become Caine was finding it hard to believe all of this stuff. Suddenly he caught a flicker of thought, incomplete thoughts, something he had learned to associate with William.

"Leave the people alone Will" Caine mumbled under his breath. "We don't need that much attention"

He kept walking and came to a stop beside Raphael, looking at some of the ancient weapons in cases and on the walls. Something about him made Caine distrust him, something in his bones telling him he was dangerous. So he decided to keep a closer eye on him.

Theo always enjoyed coming to the museum. He had come so often that the regular displays were imprinted on his memory, and he relished the chance to see something new. He almost wished he were he just to look, but Ra was quite emphatic about how there was something strange about this exhibit and he himself had received an ominous vision concerning the museum and the old Norse mythology.

Theo made his way to the Horn and busied himself reading the placards set up around the case. He was relaxing a bit until he caught sight of a young woman in the corner of his eye. His eye drawn to her, he had a sinking feeling in his stomach when he saw her leaning on a massive hammer. The vision had been unclear, but one of the few prominent features of it was a hammer exactly like that, crackling with electricity. Theo looked around again, catching sight of Caine next to a strange angelic person with Silver Shield regalia on.

Theo caught Caine's eye. I'm following a hunch, he thought towards the vampire, trusting Caine to have extended his telepathy and caught the thought. Without waiting for a reply, Theo turned and nonchalantly made his way over to where Lucy was standing, looking quite the mixture of bored and anxious. "Would you be the young woman codenamed Amazon?" he asked her.

Lucy nodded, straightening up. This mad was the largest person she'd ever seen, not including any protochildren. She was a little intimidated, as it wasn't often that she had to look up to look a person in the eye, and this man looked big enough that it she didn't have superpowers herself he could quite easily break her like a dry twig. "Can I help you?"

"Oh, I'm sorry if I disturbed you," Theo said with a friendly smile. "You see, a friend of mine was involved in the fiasco with the last exhibit, and he says that you saved his hide several times over in the scuffle. I just wanted to extend my thanks; our little group of friends likes to help out, but Albrecht sometimes gets in over his head."

Lucy's brow furrowed in confusion until she finally remembered. "Oh!" she exclaimed. "You mean the magical werewolf. Well, he helped me a lot too, to be fair."

Theo chuckled. "I've never heard him described so succinctly, although his sensibilities might take offense to such a simple description. In any case, I am glad that this exhibit has some competent guards should something happen." Lucy flushed from the compliment and to avoid causing her any further embarrassment Theo took his leave and made his way over beside Caine.

"Ra was right," he whispered aside to Caine. "That girl, or at least her weapon, featured prominently in my vision. Something strange will occur in relation to this exhibit."

If your listening in on me, then listen to this, thought William, annoyed by Caines evesdropping, Bite me. Caines aura was akin to a cold dark hole, it seemed to come with the territory with creatures touched by nightmare. Will wasn't actually going to scare anyone, not yet anyway, he would wait until a less obvious moment. If he did anything now it would be attributed to the protochildren instead of a proper haunting. What he needed was a good storm brewing, a dash of thunder and lightning, and he would have the perfect environment for a scare. Sunshine in the middle of the day did nothing to highten the experiance. The lights flickered slightly anyway, though it was hardle noticable, reminder that even if he wasn't trying, his presense still effected things.

***

Almost as soon as Cain approached, Raphael felt a tense feeling of danger, though it seemed it did not invoke his reactive instinct to defend from. Instead is was a lingering presense of danger, something to be aware of but not an attack, though he had not experianced such a thing before. He glanced around the room, wondering at first if someone was planning something, but all he saw was the curator getting ready to start the ceramony. This puzzled him, until he noticed Caine stepping beside him, turning him into his number one suspect. "Good day," he said in a polite tone, "May I help you with something?"

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome you to the opening of this fine exhibit..." said the curator going into he prepared speech, pointing out the donators who made it possible, and other such flourishes. The heroes present tensed, for some reason some of the more fanatical villians would choose this moment to make their entrance. Something about being dramatic. "And with that, I would like to declare this wing open." he finished, and the audiance applauded as the velvet seperator was removed, allowing the pblic entrance into the new exhibits. Nothing had happened. Rapheal felt a bit of relief. Though that nagging feeling remained.

Well, that was a big load of nothing, thought Will, Can we go home now?. His invisible form drifted over to the horn, it didn't look like anything special. As the crowd filled the wing, looking at the exhibits, some with interest, while others held the more subdued and board expression of those not impressed, the noise level rose as people began exchanging comments and ideas. It was then that Will notices something strange, those individuals he sensed with a unidentifiable aura. Amoung the randomness of the crowd, a few had taken positions to form a circle of 5 around the horn. Um, Caine, he thought, hoping the vampire was listening in. Those individualsmoved their feet quickly, making markings on the floor amoung the crowd, all the while chanting something lost in the buzz of voices. CAINE! THE HORN!, Will thought intensely, the lights suddenly buzzing to an intense brightness. A few of them popped as the fuses blew. In the dim light, a new glow eminated from the floor, a deep purple. The crowd started seperating backing away, revealing the individuals information, the third eye on their palms glowing as the spells activated. The shimmer of magic rippled over the case, encasing the circle and those within. The civilians in the circle tried to move into the crowd, but hit something hard, a invisible barrier. People were starting to panic now. The thrid eye members who were not keeping the shielding spell up stood out now, calmer then then the civilians, both in and out of the shield. "Now," said one of them, obviously the one in charge of this operations, "Let's not make this harder then it has to be." the members within the circle began gathering the trapped civilians into a group. "You 'heroes' will do exactly as we say, or we're going to have to get very nasty."

Theo paused and took stock of the situation. His vision had featured a ring of screams cracked by the hammer, which could only mean that the young woman's weapon could somehow disrupt the circle with the terrified civilians inside. He kept still, trying to look as non-threatening as someone of his size and build could be, while he scanned the room for possible routes of attack. It wasn't until the third time over the room that he saw the key to the situation, and mentally kicked himself for not noticing it before.

The ones powering the circle were not actually inside it.

They were part of the circle, but not inside its borders; Theo surmised that this perhaps left them vulnerable. Furtively he stared at Lucy until she happened to meet his gaze. Without breaking eye contact he began to ever so slightly nod his head at the Third-Eyes holding the circle; once she looked in the right direction and looked back, he could see she understood.

Caine, Will, Theo thought, hoping they were listening, I'm going to make a diversion. I think we can still damage the ones powering the spell that's trapping the civilians, so when I move, hit them with everything you have.

Theo caught Lucy's eye again, this time nodding directly to her and cracking his knuckles. The noise caused the Third-Eyes to look in his direction, and with speed they couldn't respond to he made his way tot he leader of the gangers and slammed one meaty fist into his gut with such force that he flew off his feet and slammed into the barrier of the circle. At the same time Lucy flew into action, swinging Mjolnir with all her might at one of the Third-Eyes powering the circle, striking with a blinding flash.

Plenty of bodies here, thought Will, flowing into one of the terrified hostages. A moment later, the man he possessed leapt up, grabbing the nearest Gang menber and punching him in the face and knocking him back. The other gang members turn their sights on the man, preparing spells, but the man suddenly fell back as Will explelled himself, manifesting at the same time. His image though came in a something out of a horror movies, empty black eyes and ravaged features, as he jerk hiself forward to stop inches from another gang members face. The ystic lost his consentration, giving a yelp of fright. Will sensed just enough fear in that second and disappeared into the mans body. The lights within the field seemed to fluctuate, suddenly flikering on and off in a strobe-like effect, between which distorted and disturbing images of the man he was in manefested, as Will charged the others, using the psychological intimidation to his advantage, striking quickly at those he could before the effect could end.

The field crakled as the circle was broken, the spell dissolving into the eather as if it had never been. Now though, the Third Eye members took aim at the hostages, ready to make good with their threats.

Raphael moved instantly, Haniel burst into light as two additional wings materialize on his back and his sword burst into flames. As the Third Eye members fired their spells, Raphael interscepted, deflecting the bolts of energy with his sword, moving fast enough to shield the civilians, who watched in awe as the somthing out of holy scriptures was taking place right before their eyes. Their had been much contrivercy surrounding Raphael's origins, and some considered his presense as some sort of proof of the divine. Many of the witnesses found themselves leaning towards that line of thinking as Raphael defended them.

Caine leapt shortly after Raphael. His skin seeming to become taunt on his bones as his eyes burned red, his fangs showing as he roared at the Third Eyes, striking a primal fear into all those that heard it. Faster than the average eye could perceive he bodily through one of the gangers into a wall, a sickening crack was all that was heard as the man slumped to the ground. Caine screamed in pain as a line of fire tore through his coat and nearly through him, his natural resistance to magic possibly saving his unlife. With anger and rage in his eyes and movements Caine seemed to leave after images as he moved towards the Third Eye that had pulled a rod from his belt and fired the blast. Caine grabbed him and threw back his head, biting into his neck to feed on his precious lifeblood.

After taking his fill Caine threw him into another Third Eye member and leapt on another, nearly tearing his head from his shoulders with the force of his blow, and nearly punching through the chest of another. He continued his onslaught as it brought him closer to Raphael.

Seeing Caines brutal metods, Raphael was quick to act. The Vampire had drawn the fire away from the civilians, who were now fleeing while there was an opening. Flaming sword in hand, Rapeal ran the sword into his palm, dragin his hand along it's length, the blood that spilled over it, was glowing golden with the energy of Haniel. The wound closed instantly as it left the blade. He moved quickly after the trail of bodies Caine was leaving in his wake, slashing with the blood soaked blade to create small wounds which closed up instantly as the healing properties took effect. It would probably be the only way these people would live after Caines mauling. Those unfortunate enough to be incompatable with his blood type... well, he would do what he could. Unfortunatly he had little time before Haniels charge ran out, after which he would have to recover. "Don't kill them!" he yelled at the Vampire, hoping the thing would stop forcing him concentrate on keeping the people attacking them alive.

I need to learn some martial art, thought Will, as he grabbed a hammer on display with the body he was inhabiting. It was nice to be able to feel things again, but it was annoying to lack the skill needed to make good use of the body he was in. He would have to work on that. He swung the hammer into the nearest Third eye member, knocking him out and moveing onto the next.

The Third Eye members were quickly being over run, however, that was not going to stop them from trying to complete their objective. The noise of shattering glass, followed by the sounding to the museams alarm caught everyones attention as the horn was wrestled from it's display case by another member. Will turned his attention to the man. The last thing thye needed was yet another invasion of the city. But as he leapt at the man, other members quickly gathered, hiding the horn from view. They then scattered, all third eyes making a tactical retreat throughout the meseum.
