"So, using this business model, it's possible to-" Suddenly, the Silver City Young Businessmen's group meeting was brought to a halt by a flash of light and a roar that blinded and deafened all those gathered for several seconds. Shaking his head and rubbing his eyes, Shane Bryce quickly surveyed the room to make sure everyone was all right. A few had fallen out of their chairs in surprise, but it looked like everyone was unharmed. "Adam? You are excused from the rest of the meeting," Mr. Bryce said. "I'm sure you have an obligation to investigate." Bryce opened the large bay window and gestured outside; Adam nodded and leapt out the window, landing on the grounds as the Lolrus and running off towards the still-glowing source of the light. "We will adjourn the meeting for the next two hours," Mr. Bryce said to the rest of the teenagers. "For safety's sake, Albert will escort you all to the shelter in the center of the building. I need to make some calls and attend to some emergency matters." As soon as the teenagers were out of the room, Albert and Bryce shared a knowing look, and Bryce opened a secret door that led to his BatGuy lair. ------------------------ "Please do not be alarmed! The light and sounds are just the aftereffects of a temporal rift collapsing! There is no danger as long as you keep your distance and don't try to touch the rift! For your own safety and that of others, please remain calm!" Kiernan wasn't sure of the date, not having had time to check his Thing, but if historical pictures and his calculations before the trip were correct then he was a thousand years in the past. The people nearby were frightened, but for the moment were heeding his advice and the rift behind him slowly shrank until it collapsed in upon itself and was gone. "Please return to your homes," Kiernan shouted out. "There is nothing more to see. Please-" He was interrupted in mid sentence when a brick collided with his head. The impact didn't hurt, but it surprised him and threw him off guard. "Freak!" someone in the crowd shouted, and soon the crowd began to turn ugly as more people began to get angry. Another brick was thrown, this one blasted out of the air by a pulse of energy. BatGuy landed next to Kiernan and the front row of the crowd-turning-mob retreated a foot or two in fear. "I don't know who you are or where you're-" "CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH!?" Kiernan blurted out, pulling a stylus out of his Thing and bringing up a pad on its screen. "Not now, you moron!" BatGuy shouted, swatting another brick out of the air. "If you haven't noticed, there's an angry mob right in front of us!" The noise of the crowd became louder, and then silenced as a deafening bellow drowned them out. The Lolrus walked up to BatGuy and Kiernan, the crowd parting to allow him through rather than try to hinder him. "By the order of the Silver Shield, you are all to DISPERSE!" Kiernan's grin widened so far it almost looked like the top of his head was going to fall off. "BatGuy AND the Lolrus?! This is the best day EVER!" |

The crowd started to move forward again when the Jolly Green Giant dropped from the sky and landed beside the Lolrus. Jeremy then jumped off of his back and drew Excalibur from it's sheath. "Please disperse or we will be forced to use counter measures" Jeremy said projecting his voice as loudly as he could. "Why don't you tell us what's going on here, huh?!" a man in the crowd yelled out. "Why don't you shut up and go back to work, huh?" Giant retorted. "That's enough Giant" Green Machine touching down with Savant. "Temporal displacement was picked up by both my scanners and Savant's. That took a lot of power and I want to hear about it without you making it even harder to get out of here without casualties." "That means shut up and do as Jeremy says" Savant added. A rock was thrown from the crowd and would have connected with Jeremy's head if Arachni-Dude hadn't leaped down and caught it. "Howdy folks. What seems to be the trouble here?" |

From The shadows, Thorn watched the commotion. This was not looking good, it seemed that the populous was getting a bit negative in their reguards towards the more favorably endowed. He of course had a whole other world he could escape to, but he found the relative normality of this one to be a much needed anchor, and those currently being assaulted potential alliances that he would probably need. Of course, being part of Ghosts team now meant he could not officially support the Silver Shield since he was technically now a vigilante, but, fortunatly for him, magic could work suttle enough that he could probably make something to disperse the crowd without casualties... However, he never got the chance. A sudden calmness seemed to suddenly effect the crowd, many seemed to start to wonder why they had been so mad and began wondering away. Artanis walked through the dispersing crowd, his glowing eyes examining the passersby with a small note of confusion. *You humans have quite troubling minds at times.* he sent privately to the heroes gathered at the site of the rift, briefly touching their minds in greeting, *I find it strange that your minds are so open to anger against your own.* Artanis was learning much of human culture, enough so that he could now venture from Silver Shield under the condition that he limit the amount of minds he touched, except in an emergency. Technically he had just violeted those terms, but considering that he had done so to prevent a violent outbreak, logic dictated that the circumstances were enough to allow the use of his powers. There were still quite a few people, the more emotionally charged that resisted the calm that Artanis had sent out, since the alien was simply introducing it rather then actively enforcing it, it did, however, give him a clear path to approach the newcomer, looking at the thing on his wrist with a slight interest. *En Taro Kiernan,* he sent, noting an interesting and elaborate network of mental pathways as he touched the young mans mind. |

"En Taro!" Kiernan replied. "Havanti ero kist navai?" "You speak his language?" Lolrus asked. "He's been here, what, a couple months, and even Savant hasn't gotten conversational usage out of that gobbledy-gook." "I took a class in it last year," Kiernan replied, "well, last year for me. It's complicated. Can I have your autograph?" Kiernan was practically convulsing with joy, wildly offering the stylus and pad to everyone gathered there. "I have to give you some credit, kid. Usually I have to cause a lot of damage to get Mr. Smiley-Chest to come out of his cave. Unfortunately, your entrance scrambled my recording equipment, so now the next episode of my show will be late. Shame, shame, shame." BatGuy whirled around, his voice becoming a harsh growl. "Jokester..." "Oh how nice! You remembered my name!" the Jokester was sitting on a window ledge just ten feet off the ground, with a group of clown-painted thugs underneath him. "Are you able to play? Hahahahahaha!" The Jokester threw what looked like a rubber clown nose into the crowd, and it exploded with a noxious green gas that left people coughing and gagging for air. BatGuy leaped into the air towards Jokester, but was hit in midair by a barrage of paintballs that blinded him momentarily and left him covered in multiple neon colors. "Couldn't afford real bullets for your goons, Jokester?" BatGuy growled, wiping the paint off his visor. "Oh no. I just needed something to make you bait while I took care of this annoying pest," Jokester replied, calmly advancing towards Kiernan. "Wha-" BatGuy was cut off when Ver-Man jumped him from behind a bush. "SHINEY!!!" Lolrus moved to help BatGuy, but a blast of energy sent him tumbling through the front wall of a nearby townhouse. Some people in the crowd began to scream and the mob parted slightly as Geiger and several Silver Dragons advanced on the gathered heroes. "Nice gear, kid," Geiger said, holding a bolt of energy in his hand and playing with it like it was a twig. "Hand it over, and maybe nobody gets hurt." As the heroes moved against the advancing threats, several members of the Golden Sword appeared on a nearby rooftop. "You all know the drill," Tricia Creed told the gathered members. "We want the boy alive and as unharmed as possible so he can tell us how his machinery works. If you are captured, you are on your own. Regardless of success or failure, return to the embassy as soon as you leave; Jumper will take you back to the 'homeland'." Junk, Yuriko, and Eric nodded and moved to the edge of the roof. "This should be fun," Junk said as he stepped over the side. |

"Hoowy! Looks like we got ourselves a good ole fashioned standoff!" Arachni-Dude said in a terrible prospector's accent. "You seriously think you can take us? Come on you should be smarter than that" "Protect the new guy!" Jeremy yelled sliding back a step. Everyone else following form into a defensive perimeter around Kiernan. |

Figures, thought Thorn watching the mass of enemies that the group was facing, a light show like that attracts all the crazies. He looked around for the best place to jump it. He held the staf up, arcane magic humming through it as he cast the spell, a rift opening in the air as he jumped through, preparing in his mind a second spell for his exit. Above the silver dragons, space crackeled and split, a rift second rift opening. A few looked up and someone mutter, "What, another one, before the figure of Thorn leapt out, yelling the last words of the spell, spinning his staff above his head before bringing it down as he landed with a lound echoing crack. The shockwave of force exploded in a burst around him, throwing the Dragons in every direction, leaving Thorn in the empty epicenter as the members landed. Using the few moments he had, Thorn moved to a more defensive postion, with the heroes to his back, "Can't turn my back for 5 minutes and you guys start causing trouble," he said, though to whome he was actually referring to, the gang or the heroes. Artanis took up position, reaching out with his mind to determine the positions of their opponents, and relaying it to the other team members. The tactic had been thought up while in his 'orientation' and customs training, Artanis could act as a silent communication system for his team mates, relaying orders by thought much faster and reliably then by radio equiptment. In the mean tiime, he made sure to cast out a feeling of fear their attackers, making them hesitant to charge in as a group, enabling hi to pick off the ones that made too much of a move forward with his psi blast. |

The crowd immediately turned into a tide of panicked people fleeing in every direction. A dumpster exploded and Geiger stood in the wreckage, glowing like a neon sign. "Sic 'em, boys," he growled, firing a blast at Thorn. One of the Dragons let out a howl, and as one they leapt into action. Bounding along and weaving in and out of each other's path, the Pack swarmed towards Thorn like a wolf pack taking down a deer. The heroes were equally surprised when Junk landed on Savant and began ripping parts of her armor off, absorbing it into himself. Lolrus turned to help Savant and found himself crashing to the ground under his own weight. Meanwhile, BatGuy and Ver-Man struggled in their grapple as the Jokester advanced towards Kiernan. "Are you really the Jokester?" Kiernan asked. "The one and only." "Can... Can I have your autograph? You know your show is the first show from Earth to win an intergalactic award? It's quite prestigious." The Jokester was caught off guard, and in his confusion he signed Kieran's pad and handed the stylus back. "Wh- How? When?" "Fifty years after your death," Kiernan explained. "They say genius is never appreciated in its lifetime. I grew up watching reruns of it." "Well," The Jokester replied, flattered, "I certainly-" And the Kiernan punched him in the forehead, knocking him unconscious. "You're still a criminal, though." |

Yuriko dropped from the rooftop and phased through the street into the sewers. Using what she saw of the battle field she phased up through the street right beside Jeremy. Yuriko drew her sword in one fluid motion and struck at Jeremy, Excalibur meeting her blade out of instinct and then again out of deliberate action. "You're the Mirror's Shadow right?" Jeremy said as they danced around the street blade meeting blade. "That's gotta do wonders for your ego" Yuriko responded by placing a thin cut on Jeremy's cheek. With a dive she phased through Jeremy and kicked him in the back causing him to stumble for a second. "Not much of a talker huh? I get that but I've just been toying with you" Jeremy said breaking her sword with a flick of his wrist. "This is Excalibur. You don't stand a chance" Yuriko moved with amazing speed and struck two pressure points in Jeremy's arm causing him to drop his sword and then pulled the arm to bring Jeremy closer. Yuriko repeated the motion with his other arm and then pulled down her mask, "I too have just been playing. The sword means nothing if the wielder is weak" She drew Jeremy in and planted a kiss on his lips. At first Jeremy was confused until he realized his mouth had gone numb and the numbness was spreading. "You will cease to breathe soon enough" Yuriko said pulling her mas back up. With that task done she moved after Kiernan. Savant struggled to get Junk off of her back when the Green Machine tackled her to the ground and punched both sides of Junk's head with his fists and then activated his sonic disruptors hoping there was enough of Junk's human brain left to be affected. With a metallic scream Junk reared back and was blasted off with with one of Machine's repulsors. "Don't let him get close. He's already cannibalized your jet pack" Green Machine said. "Jeremy's been taken out so we're down by one you need to- hey get back here!" Savant was already moving toward Jeremy seeing Yuriko running away toward Kiernan. Sliding down towards Jeremy she saw him staring blankly into the sky and seeming to be having trouble breathing. Pulling off her helmet she put her head by Jeremy's chest and could hear his heart still beating strong. "Don't worry baby, I'll get you some help" Savant said kissing his forehead and looking up towards Yuriko. With an angry look on her face she opened fire on Yuriko. Yuriko spun as she heard the gunshots behind her but wasn't fast enough to avoid and phase through all of them. One of the bullets tore through her uniform and broke her left arm. Gritting her teeth through the pain she kept moving towards Kiernan. Giant roared out a challenge to the charging Pack. Interposing himself between them and Thorn. "Lion man should leave these guys to Giant. I mean me, leave them to me" Giant said shaking his head. "Keep watch over the new kid and I'll take care of these guys" The Pack ducked and weaved between Giant's attacks striking here and there but not doing enough to actually hurt him. Giant roared out in rage and swung, clipping one of the Pack sending him soaring into a parked car. The rest of the Pack howled in rage and increased their attack speed one of them jumping high and slashing at Giant's eyes. |

"Suit yourself," said Thorn as Giant took over, and he shot off towards the kid, chanting the spell as his feet came down, and let loose a bolt of lightning that shot through the small group of gang members that were ahead of him, trying to get at future boy. it didn't kill them, but it sent them spawling, in which he bolted over them, stepping on a few as he passed over. Thre few still standing were stunned enough that he was able to crack his staff against the one in his way. "Hey kid," he yelled as he approached, "You got a gadget to get you out of this, or do you have to drag your butt out of this dimension before you decide your in enough danger!?" He was about ready to just drag the kid into the Hedge, it was bad enough that there were innocent bystandards in the middle of this. However, before he had a chance to make good on this threat, he was Yuriko's approach, "Oh crud," he said, positioning himself between Kiernan and the ninja. Thorn brout his staff down, and a burst went out, but it hardly stopped Yoriko, who passed through it as if it were nothing, heading strait for Thorn, to quickly for him to cast another spell. With no time, Thorn swung his staff to hit the woman, who grinned as she phased, ready to pass through her opponent and claim her prize. *CRACK* The sound of the enchanted wood against the womans jaw, the shock of her expression lingered in Thorns mind as she was knocked overskidding across the ground more because of her own momentum then the force of Thorns blow. She rose to her feet, looking at Thorn with acid in her eyes. "How...?" she said, the hated in her voice clear. "Your tricks won't work here!" was Thorns response, glad that had actually worked. The dimensional ward he had placed would keep anyone from using such tricks, anchoring all in the area about him to this plane. Unfortunatly, it meant that he wouldn't be able to transport Kiernan to the Hedge, but it would keep anyone else from trying to teleport him or phase him out of here. But there was no time for him to dwell on that, Yuriko was already on the offensive again, but Thorn had had enough time for his next spell, as Yuriko fell upon him bringing her black down, Thorn brought up his Staff to block, the sword hit, and energy pulse, instantly the energy leapt through Yuriko, eldrich chains pulling her limbs to her ground. She was forced to drop the poison dagger that had been about to end Thorn as she stared with acid hatred. Thorn in turn looked at the dagger, quite relieved by his luck, "Wizard 1, Ninja 0," he mocked, he cast a spell point black, knocking Yuriko unconcious before the the binding spell that held her could wear off. |

Tricia clucked in disapproval, then subtly used her telekinesis to widen Yuriko's arteries and increase blood flow to her brain so she would awaken momentarily. In the meantime she ripped a street lamp out of the ground and and swatting Thorn aside with it before teleporting to another rooftop to avoid detection. She watched Graviton get blown off his feet by a below from the Lolrus, breaking his concentration and allowing the Lolrus to intercept Junk as he hurtled towards the Green Machine. His timing off, Lolrus only knocked Junk aside and the cybernetic super was still able to grab the Green Machine's arm as he passed and ripped the arm of his suit off as he went. Junk swung back around and landed, grinning widely as the absorbed tech began to slowly creep over what was left of his flesh. Lolrus charged again before the Green Machine could warn him, only to be blasted away by the stolen sonic disruptor. Kiernan rushed over to Jeremy, passing his arm over the now choking boy and glancing over a readout on his Thing. "Do you still have contact with the Silver Shield? No, nevermind." Kiernan tapped his Thing and began speaking into it. "Silver Shield priority code Alpha-one-one-five-three-Sigma. Code Phrase: Need a Good Feeling Yesterday. I repeat, Code Phrase: Need a Good Feeling Yesterday." Kiernan glanced up at Savant and shrugged at her confused expression. "It's complicated," he said to her unspoken question. "Stay here." Kiernan summoned a time bubble and placed it on Jeremy. Everything more than five feet away dulled to a hazy blur of muted color as everyone outside the bubble zipped about. "We're currently removed from time," Kiernan said, checking Jeremy's vital signs before standing up and assessing the motion outside the bubble. "Time is moving for us fifty times slower than it is for those outside, thus giving him an exponentially increased survival rate. Although I know he's going to survive because reality hasn't fractured." Kiernan saw the look on Savant's face and sighed. "You can't go back in time and kill your own grandfather before you were born without ripping the universe apart," he explained. "Stay with him until help arrives." Before Savant could respond, Kiernan stepped outside the bubble and arm-barred Ver-Man in mid-leap as he pounced towards BatGuy again. BatGuy nodded to Kiernan in thanks and pulled a string of sparkly glass beads from his belt. He threw them to Ver-Man, and the dazed creature cackled with glee before snatching the beads and running off back to his sewer lair. BatGuy moved to intercept the Pack and harry them while the Giant pounded them silly, and Kiernan turned to catch a streamer of silk in his face. "Interesting powers," Yuriko said, "but even the strongest can be overcome by the simplest poiso-" Barely dodging Kiernan's fist, Yuriko darted backwards in surprise. "You'll have to do better than that," Kiernan said, ignoring the already fading numbness in his face. "Poisons won't work on me like they do most of your victims, Uzimake." |

Giant roared and threw blow after blow at the Pack. Their attacks weren't enough to get through his skin but they annoyed him and it angered him that he wasn't fast enough to hit them. With another roar he slammed his fists into the ground and caused the whole street to become unstable as evidenced by an SUV falling through into the sewers. "Bring it on!" he screamed at the Pack. Machine fired with his remaining repulsor and sonic disruptor doing everything he could to keep Junk at a distance. Flying was a little difficult without the other arm of his suit but he was managing. He was thrown out of the air as Junk clipped him with a repulsor. "Argh" Melnaire screamed as he crashed to the ground. It felt like his arm was ripped out of its socket as he hit the ground but he knew it was only a major fracture. Junk approached his seemingly defeated foe, put both hands on Melnaire's helmet and tore it away from the suit absorbing it into his own body. The increased CPU made it seem like the universe was opening in front of his eyes. Then came the knowledge, the entire Silver Shield mainframe was encrypted on this system. "Override Code Christopher!" Melnaire yelled out as the helmet was removed and Junk yelled in frustration as the vast majority of the information encoded into the suit was wiped clean. |

Thorn had little time to react to the lamp post that swung at him, barely getting a shield up in time. The blow still slung him across the street into the wall, but at least none of his bones were broken. There was a huge numb sensation through his upper torso where the impact had been at i's greatest, and he was pretty sure he would end up with a large bruse there at the end of it. He got to his feet, momentarily light headed, looking around to spot kinetic on the roof. He couldn't teleport since the effect of his spell was still on him, the center of it being his being himself. He cast another spell, leaping into the air and jetting around to take Tracia from behind. He was already chanting the spell when he approached finishing the last sylabble as he came within hearing range, "THAT HURT YOU, ____!" he yelled as Tracia turned around, the last word lost as a crack ripped across the area above them, and a mass of energy swirled into existance. Suddenly everything not nailed down began moving, as a suction began pulling. Lighter objects leaped into the air, and the crash of electricity burning through the air sounded as they were seemingly paporized as they disappeared into the vortex. Kinetic tried to teleport , but nothing happened, she had fallen within range of Thorns spell, binding her here. Thorn already knowing this would happened did not give her the chance to make up for her discovery, launching a ball of force. A Tracia, deflected t, but not in time to keep it from clipping her shoulder, knocking her around. Angry now she, tore the bricks out of the agencent building, firing them off like a machine gun at Thorn, who fired off more force balls to shatter them before they could reach him, the spell being one of his simplest. Suddenly, Kinetic lost her footing as the suction increased, and she found herself being pulled into the air, losing her grip on the bricks, they tumbled upwards into the vortex disappearing with a crack. Focusing now on escape, she directed her efforts into propelling herself away from it, noting that the viod was high enough to only effect those at the roof top leve, so she pushed herself down. , however, whith her focus splintered, Thorn had the chance to move. While the suction was affecting him too, had already been pushing himself away from it, the preperation made all the difference, and he easily manuvered himself between Tracia and the boid, firing off a blast of force, pushing Kinetic upward, where she was caught in the current in pulled upwards into the vortex. She screamed vengence before there was a crackle of elecricity as she was pulled in, and Thorn dropped his binding spell, and Kinetic vanished. That would teach her a lesson. She would be hurting when she reappeared elsewhere in the city, the spell was a strong one, he wouldn't be casting it again. Those pulled into the void were teleported away while being damaged by elemental energy. It would at least get her out of their hair for a whilw. |

OOC: Last posts, everyone. What was left of Junk's organic body seethed with anger as he struck the Green Machine and broke his jaw to prevent any more voice commands being issued. He began to rip apart the rest of Melnaire's armor and absorb it, only to be knocked aside by a blast of electricity. "By the authority of the Silver shield, you are to cease and desist! All supers not registered members or authorized deputies of the Silver Shield are under arrest!" Kilovolt stood in the center of the melee, flanked by Zirconium and Titan, with Saurus towering behind them and 'Doc Feelgood' breaking formation to rush over to Jeremy. Uzimake threw a dart only to have it snatched from the air by the Silver Blur. "Screw this," Junk cursed, transforming his body into a more aerodynamic shape and blasting away from the scene, slowing only to grab Graviton on his way. Uzimake simply phased through the street below her into the sewers and was gone before any of the heroes could give chase. Geiger and the Pack turned tail and ran, but Kilovolt waved the Silver Blur down before she chased after them. "They're not important," she said. "We can get them later." "Can-" "Not now Kid," BatGuy said, pulling Kiernan back as he approached the Silver Shield task force. "You'll have plenty of time to get autographs. The big boys have work to do." Templar had the Green Machine's jaw set and healed by then; Kilovolt turned over control of the scene to Titan and left with Templar. "All right," Titan said, surveying the damage and scratching his head. "What the hell happened here?" |

"Like they could hold me." said Thorn to himself, stepping backwards into a shadow, which materialized into a gateway as he disappeared back into the Hedge. The situation looked well enough that he wasn't needed anymore, he had other things he was putting together, which would hopefully benefit them in the long run. *** Artanis pulled back his mind from the area, he was feeling a bit light headed from the exertion he had put forth, though a large proportion gang members were now unconcious before him. It was like he was on the edge of a migrane, and touching others minds at the moment wasn't helping it much. He hoped he wasn't catching some alien virus, although he had imuized himself, he wasn't sure it would be effective against th edisease of an yet undercovered planet like this. He would look into when they got back to silver shield, until then, he helped with the injured and unconcious. |
