Name: Arthur Winslow, Avenger. Birth Date: April 13, 1992. Physical Description: Arthur is the tall, dark, handsome stranger that people picture when they get their fortune told by the obviously fraudulent fortune-teller. He is 6'1", 200 pounds; he has raven-black hair, dark blue eyes, and the natural tan of Mediterranean heritage. His facial features are bishi-beautiful in the most complimentary appraisals, and even his critics call him good-looking. He tends to dress in dark clothing, but that's more because he likes to keep to the shadows and avoid being seen whenever possible. Job: Unemployed trust-fund kid, part-time member of the SSTC. Equipment: Arthur is the owner of a sword of the Cross, his weapon fashioned as a Tai-Chi blade. The blade is straight, 2' long, double-edged with a round tapered tip. The crossguard is a simple oval of bronze with Chinese characters etched into it depicting peace and serenity. The handle is wrapped in red and black silk, and the pommel is a stylized bronze lotus bloom. The blade cannot be broken unless wielded for an evil purpose or it is stained by innocent blood. Arthur's sword was once wielded by a Chinese mystic who placed a spell on the sword that allows the rightful owner to call it to hand with a thought. The blade simply appears in Arthur's hand from wherever it was stored; though the maximum distance of this ability has never been tested, Arthur has never had to call it from more than a mile away. Powers: Like all Swords of the Cross, Arthur's weapon confers upon him great strength and durability. When Arthur is wielding or wearing the sword he can lift ten tons and is completely bulletproof, requiring the force of a small grenade to hurt him. It also will cut through the defenses of any denizen of the Nightmare or any other truly evil being. Arthur's blade confers upon him an enhancement of his natural tendencies for stealth, granting him the ability to become completely invisible to normal vision. There is no duration for being invisible, but the effect is dispelled the moment he attacks someone or something and there is a five-second window after an attack where he cannot become invisible again. -Arthur's invisibility shields him from infrared detection -Arthur's invisibility also negates any noise he makes while moving, and he cannot be heard by normal people unless he wants to be heard. -Arthur's invisibility shields him from ultrasonic detection such as echolocation or sonar. -Arthur's invisibility shields him from casual psychic detection (non-"Danger Sense" type abilities or anything not specifically looking for someone hidden) -Arthur's invisibility shields him from magnetic detection. -Arthur's invisibility shields him from casual magical detection (will fool proximity traps and such but not spells specifically looking for someone hidden) -Arthur's invisibility gives him a personal gravity field that fools pressure sensors. -Arthur's invisibility shields him from direct psychic detection (any effect looking for someone hidden but not him specifically) -Arthur's invisibility shields him from direct magical detection (any effect looking for someone hidden but not him specifically) -Arthur can lift twenty tons while wearing or wielding the sword. -Arthur can a grenade blast without harm while wearing or wielding the sword. *Arthur can sense evil in his general area, though not in any way he can describe; if evil is present within 30 feet he simply knows it is there. If he makes physical contact with an evil being the being is identified immediately as such to him. -Arthur's 'evil sense' gives him a general direction of the evil presence. Skills: Mixed Martial Artist~ Arthur has studied several different martial arts, including traditional karate, tai-chi and judo. He isn't a master of any, but he is able to mix them together to pose a threat to most hand-to-hand combatants. Observant~ Arthur picks up on things most people miss or take for granted. Home-schooled~ Arthur actually finished high-school education when he was 15 and just got his associate's in psychology. Gymnast~ Arthur is not really trained in gymnastics but his martial arts training and his vigilante habits make him adept at climbing, balance, jumping and swinging. Steel Will~ Arthur has a singular concentration, and is heavily resistant to all forms of mental manipulation. Personality: Arthur often comes head to head with the Silver Shield policy because of his tendency to see things in black and white. He's not exceptionally violent, but he doesn't hold back like the Silver Shield wants him to if he's up against someone his senses say is truly evil, especially when they don't surrender willingly. He isn't religious, but he has a very defined sense of right and wrong, even when the law says otherwise, hence his problems with policy. Still, he has no regard for his own life when innocent people are in danger, and he often rushes into situations over his head even when ordered to stay back when he feels there isn't enough attention paid to keeping people safe. He tends to be very blunt and often has trouble with sensitive situations. Past: Arthur grew up home-schooled, his parents independently wealthy. Arthur wasn't spoiled, but lack of a social environment like the standard school system left him with a rather blunt and unwavering view of how things should be and left him without compassion for people who might do things for less than pure reasons. Never having powers of his own, Arthur was not affected by the Crash and Reboot, though it was after the Reboot that he came into possession of his sword. His Tai-Chi instructor gave it to him as a birthday present from his own private collection, saying that the sword just seemed to belong with Arthur. At first Arthur didn't realize there was anything special about the sword, but when he was practicing outside and thought about how he should have brought the sword for some of his stances he was surprised to find the sword in his hand. He found that his senses had opened up after finding the sword, and he learned to listen to his intuition about people's character. His first true experience with the powers of the sword came when he was walking home alone from a movie one night and was attacked by a vampire. He summoned the sword so he would have something to defend himself and foudn that he had disappeared from the vampire's senses. One swing of the sword cut through the vampire like it was made of paper; days afterward he found himself face to face with a Spanish gentleman calling himself 'Padre' who explained to him in no uncertain terms what the sword was and what it meant to have one. Soon Arthur found that the Silver Shield was looking for the vigilante taking down some of the supernatural threats in the city, and voluntarily turned himself in. Rather than charge him with wrongdoing the Silver Shield signed him up with the SSTC until he turns 18, though he spends as much time on suspension for disobeying orders as he does as an active member.
