In the safety of the warehouse, Thorn looked over the page a final time. Since he had recieved the book, he had been paging through it non-stop, amazed at what it held. There was so much, too much in fact, it wasn't physically possible for a book this size to hold so much, but still somehow the the pages never seemed to end. Magic, of course, it was a spell book after all. Magic it seemed was more complex then he realized, it was more then a few magic words, the book held explicit instructions on how to feel, how to think, and things that he couldn't even begin to describe. Thus far he had yet to try a spell. In a way, he was excited, but at the same time, there were things in this book that came dangerously close to things he would rather forget. He realized now what a responsability owning the Grimorum was, in the wrong hands, it was a dangerous weapon. He would have to be sure to keep it safe. Or find a way to lock it.

Still, tonight he was going to take the next step. So far, he had been reading about magic. Now, he would start doing magic. He looked over the spell, memorising the instuctions. It was a very simple spell, and one he thought would good for a starting magic user, as it was more along the lines of a small magic trick then an attack spell, of which their were many. He concentrated, focusing his mind to the thoughts and trying to feel the magic, and channel it to the effect he wanted. He waved a hand.

As he did, he thought he saw a slight shimmer in the air, and felt a pleasurable tingle at his fingertips. However, beside that, nothing happened. He had done something, but he was not quite their, but the sensation however small, enough to push him to try again. He focused once more, and he felt it, a definate flow of energy this time, and as he waved his hand, a flow of silvery light leaped from his fingertip, lingering in the air like gossimer ribbons of light gefore disintegrating into shimmering sparks that faded into darkness. The pleasent sensation that remained in his hand after the effect ended felt welcoming, natural. When he had used Fae power, there had been times when it felt pleasurable, but it afterwards aways felt bittersweet, like something had been taken from him. If what Malek had told him was true, it was no wonder, as he had been drawing on the very thing he hated. This however, he ran his hands through the air again, creating the silvery light once more, this time forming it, creating the image of a flower in the light before it broke apart like a firework after exploding. It felt somehow right.

The spell was exceedingly simple, and after a few time, casting it was as simple as thinking about it. Still this spell was only good for parlor tricks. He would need more then a disappearing coins and smoke rings to match the fae. He took out the book, looking for the next spell. "To extend thy grasp beyond it's reach." he said to himself as he read the spells effect. He read onward, memorising the details of the spell, then looked for somthing to test it on. A few scraps of wood lay on the ground from damaged crates, they would do fine. He concentrated once more on what he had memorized, this time getting imediate results. the wood shifted, as he gestured his hand, lifting into the air as if he held it in his own hand. This was getting cool. The next spell was also an easy one, and soon he conjured a light on the tip of the piece of wood, lighting the area in a soft glow. They were simple spells, but he would need some firepower also. He searched the book of something with a little more kick to it, and found one right away.

He had seen someof the things in the book that could take out a group of people, ones potential dangerous to buildings and structures. He wasn't so desperate to go that far just yet, but the one he found seemed a reasonable one in a pinch. He memorized the spell then readied a crate for target practice. As he cast the spell, a silvery bolt shot from his hand, striking the crate cracking the wood with a echoing impact sound. After a few more shots he was satisfied, and looked for the next spell. "To summon the winter's frost to thine enemy." he read, and started memorizing. However, as he did, he felt something sliping in his mind. As he tried to hold on to the spells he relized that these simple spells, while easy to remember seemed to weave together in a way that, after memorising a few, it became too complex to hold on to them all properly. Looking to some of the more advanced spells, he saw a definate change the spell design, more complex, but the style differed so that they did not conflict with what he had already learned. Looking deeper he saw that their were a few different styles to the spells, enough so that he would be able cast many spells, but there would be a limit to the amounts he could remember of each type. He would have to chose his spells carefully, as he would need to refer to the book if he wanted to learn a different one, and he doubted the Fae would allow time outs so he could pick out the right spells to fight them with.
