Name: Zachary Ferretti, Zack or Bone Birth Date: August 16, 1976 Physical Description: Zachary stands at just under six feet, at 5’11” and weighs a hefty 237 lbs., much of which is from the higher density of his skeleton. He has the body build of an athlete, slim with well toned muscles and just enough mass to make him look intimidating without making him look awkward. Zachary’s skin is dark, almost black, and his head has been shaved completely bald. His eyes are as black as his skin. Zachary wears the usual civilian clothes, varying depending on the season, weather, and whatever he feels like wearing that day, except for the suits he has to wear for work. Underneath his clothes there are numerous and grotesque scars covering his whole body. Zack wears what almost looks to be a set of skin tight dark green pajamas. He has a pair of small shorts that cover only from his waist to about midway down his thigh and a shirt that just reaches the shorts and the sleeves of which barely cover past his shoulders. The neck line stretches about a half inch up his neck. Job: Office worker in Sunset Industries, member of the Chosen Equipment: A small backpack containing at least two replacement pairs of glasses in tough protective cases, a cell phone, his wallet (SSN card, ID, a credit card, and maybe some cash), and a GPS locator. Powers: Osteokinesis. Zack has the ability to control his skeleton on a massive scale. His osteocytes, the cells within a person’s body specifically designed to care for your bones, operate on a superhuman level as it is, but if he focuses Zack can make them work even harder and in unique ways that allow him to use his own skeleton as both a weapon and a shield. Without focus, Zack’s bones heal at a rate 30x that of a normal human. Also, as a side effect of the increased potential of his bone cells, Zack’s bones are 20x as dense as a normal human’s, which amounts to be being just as many times as durable. This makes him much heavier than a normal person, but it also makes it very difficult to inflict any kind of damage to his skeletal structure without the use of superpowers or dropping something very heavy on him. For example, his femur, the usual bone used in tests to see how much pressure it takes to break a human bone, can withstand about 5 metric tons of pressure. With focus, though, Zack’s control over his skeleton becomes phenomenal. He can force his osteocytes through the pores in his skin to begin forging a bone exoskeleton around his body that protects him from a great deal of damage. This exoskeleton takes about five minutes to construct and it slows him down by about 35% due to the fact that his cells must deconstruct the bone just right and then reconstruct it just right at the same time with every single move he makes. Zack can also create weapons the same way, forcing the cells through his pores and making them forge whatever tool or weapon suits the occasion. The size and detail of the weapon or tool determines the amount of time and focus needed to create it. Ex.: A simple bone knife would only take 20 seconds or so at the slowest, something like a lock pick or simple trowel/spade would take more or less the same amount of time. A long spear or an average sized sword would take a minute or two. The more detail he adds to these items, the more time is required. Any blades he creates always have the sharpest of edges unless he chooses to dull them. The bones are strong enough to smash, or cut if they are shaped as blades, through solid concrete, provided there is enough force behind the blow. -Zack’s bones heal at a rate of 35x a normal human’s. -Zack’s bones become more durable without becoming denser. They can withstand twice the pressure they could before. -Zack’s exoskeleton only slows him by 25%. -Zack can create weapons, tools, exoskeleton, etc. in ¾ the time he could before. -Zack’s bones heal at a rate of 40x a normal human’s. -Zack’s bones are three times as durable as before. -Zack’s bones are five times as durable. -Zack’s bones are seven times as durable. -Zack’s bones are ten times as durable. -Zack’s exoskeleton slows him by 15%. -Zack can construct weapons, tools, exoskeleton, etc. in ½ the time he could before. -Zack can construct at ¼ the time he could before. -Zack’s exoskeleton slows him by 5%. -Zack’s exoskeleton doesn’t slow him down at all. *-Super strength. While relatively weak compared to most supers with enhanced strength, Zack is still far superior to a normal human. Zack can lift about 600 lbs over his head and, using this strength, can run up to about 30 mph tops. -Zack can lift about 750 lbs over his head. *-Enhanced senses. All five of Zack’s senses are super enhanced to 15x that of a normal human. Skills: Swift thinker- He may be a psychopath, but Zack can think very well on his feet and is always able to adjust his plans, and tools/weapons, to accommodate nearly any situation. Theatrical artist- Zack likes to be theatrical and is very good at it. Persistent- Like any crazed animal, once he sets his sights on something it’s nearly impossible to divert his focus. Bone Sculpture- In his boredom, Zack took to making little knick knacks and cute pieces with his powers. He’s gotten very good at it over the years. Clever as a Fox- He may crazy, but he’s not stupid. In fact, being crazy sometimes makes him even more cunning. Anatomy- You don’t have a superhuman ability to control part of your body and not take the time to learn the mechanics of it. Personality: Zachary Ferretti has two separate personalities. The civilian goes by the name of Zachary. He is just another guy in the city. He works a simple 9-5 and he hangs out at the bar with his friends when gets the chance. He pays his bills and does his taxes. His Sunday ritual is to watch the game during football season. He’s pretty easy to get along with and likes to have fun and enjoy himself, but he also works hard and doesn’t care for slackers. He is also completely unaware of his alter ego and his powers. Said alter ego, who is known simply as Zack, knows all about his mild-mannered counterpart. Zack is a total psychopath. All the torture and suffering that Zachary was put through is bottled up in this one personality and it has created a true monster. Zack is more animal than human in his behavior, preferring to wander about on all fours in a constant crouch and often using his teeth and nails when fighting. He has a one-track mind and is more like an attack dog than anything. His methods in combat are brutal and bloody, but effective. Also, like a wild dog, he’s more or less uncontrollable and does whatever comes to mind first until someone gives him an incentive to follow orders and uses that to train him. Though he is entirely insane, he is far from stupid and understands the importance of making sure that Zachary does not discover his alter ego or what he does. Past: Zachary spent most of his early childhood like any other kid who grew up in the Middle District. He had a birthday party every year and several family members, and friends later, would attend to ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ when he blew out the candles and opened presents. Christmas was a similar ordeal. Every Halloween since he could crawl, he would go out trick-or-treating. Fourth of July always meant fireworks. He went to Franklin Elementary School, then on to Franklin Middle School. He was totally unremarkable in any way. Then, hardly a month before his fourteenth birthday, he was kidnapped half a block from his home. It took his family five years to find him. From what the police could gather in that time, they pieced together Zachary’s five year nightmare as best they could. Apparently, he was taken by a small group of KKK members and brought to an undistinguishable house in the suburbs of a neighboring city. Zachary was kept in the basement, which had been renovated by the owners into a modern-day torture chamber. He was kept inside a kennel like an animal and beat severely any time he tried to stand upright when they let him out. His captors wouldn’t let him speak like a human, claiming ‘he was just an animal, and animals don’t speak.’ When he was finally found, Zachary was starved, dehydrated, and covered in horrific bruises and scars and half-healed burns and cuts. His body was being ravaged by several different bacteria and viruses and most of his injuries were infected. Several of his bones had to be rebroken because they had set wrong after his terrible torture sessions. Investigators and doctors gathered all this by questioning witnesses and the kidnappers or by examining Zachary themselves. Zachary did not speak until months after he had healed, a process taking nearly three years, and it didn’t take psychologists long to realize he had spent all that time suppressing his memories so completely that he couldn’t even see his own scars anymore. A few of the psychologists fear this might lead to the creation of one or more alternate personalities, but a few more weeks of study put those fears to rest. Zachary’s powers finally emerged one night when he was having yet another night terror that he would not remember again. It had been exactly teen years after that first night of torture, and the alternate personality the doctors had feared finally awoke. Zack went on a seven-person killing spree that night before returning to Zachary’s house. Zack went on several other killing sprees before he was finally detained by the Silver Shield and sent to a special prison that would contain Zachary even when Zack was in charge of his body. Because Zachary was totally innocent and still unaware of Zack’s presence, the Silver Shield arranged things so that Zachary would remain in a sort of cryostasis while his mind was connected to a computer that would allow Zachary to believe he was still going about his every day life. After the Crash, Zachary lost his powers like every other super, but Zack also went into submission for some odd reason. He didn’t emerge for weeks and so Zachary was finally set free with implanted memories to explain what had happened when he awoke to find the world drastically changed. Then came the Reboot, and with it the powers of the supers. And with Zachary’s powers, came Zack. It was the summer of 2000 all over again. Zack and his powers emerged exactly the same way they had the first time, after Zachary’s night terrors and then running off to commit his killing sprees before returning to keep the other side unaware. Finally, Zack attracted the attention of the Chosen. They followed Zachary for about a week before Zack finally revealed himself. McKnight took an immediate interest in the protochild and captured him at the first opportunity that night. Through severe psychological and physical training, McKnight turned Zack from a mindless killing machine into an excellent weapon. Now, Zack never emerges unless the Zachary hears the word ‘release’ spoken. Anyone can bring Zack out, but only a member of the Chosen can put him back to sleep again with the word ‘sleep.’ Edited by Son, Nov 10 2008, 08:35 PM.

I really hate having this argument, but MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) and Schizophrenia are two distinct and separate disorders. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Schizophrenia may cause extreme personality changes, and often when combined with bipolar disorder it makes a person seem like they have two separate personalities, but they are the same person with different reactions because of the high/low swings of being bipolar. Schizophrenia is biological in origin and simply manifests, usually needing medication to keep under control. Normal, or "paranoid" schizophrenia manifests slowly and rapidly progresses after the usual age of thirty. Rapid, or "delusional" schizophrenia, which is the kind more people think of when they think of the disease, manifests over a matter of months or even weeks, and is characterized by the person thinking that they are someone famous under surveillance by any number of sources and rapidly devolves until they can't function in reality anymore unless caught and treated. Someone with MPD has one dominant personality and one or more repressed personalities. This is caused by severe trauma as a child and makes the mind break into multiple shards. The dominant personality is aware of the others and usually lets the weaker personality 'drive', usually taking control only whenever the person is in a stressful situation, but not always. It is perfectly possible for someone to have both MPD and Schizophrenia, but because schizophrenia is caused by a brain imbalance, both personalities would be bat**** insane, not one normal and one crazy. |

And this is supposed to be a comic book style RPG, which means not all the rules of reality are followed, but still. I thought multiple personalities and schizophrenia were basically the same thing, but since they aren't I'll clarify that. Is that the only problem, though? |

The laws of physics are bent and on occasion broken, but not established medical fact. You want to give him some bizarre genetic disorder that doesn't exist in reality, sure, but don't say he has a proven disorder with documented symptoms and causes and then give the symptoms and causes of a completely different disorder.. They aren't the same thing. Never have been. People seem to get that idea from the fact that schizophrenics often hear voices, but people with multiple personalities do not have internal dialogue. Yes, that's the only problem. Please fix it. I make a hobby out of researching and learning about mental disorders and that point of ignorance people have is a pet peeve of mine. |

Schizophrenia was taken out and now it just says he has 'two separate personalities'. Better? |
