Silver Shield Training Corps The SSTC is a recent creation in response to the growing number of teens with superpowers. Because of the Silver Shield's status as a paramilitary organization, only those members who are 18 or older (with the exception of certain personnel) are allowed to be full members, but being the only training authority recognized by the world, the Silver Shield created the SSTC to bring in younger supers in an atmosphere where they could learn to use their powers without risk of harming innocent people. These teens are also given the chance to operate on small missions that reflect their status, mostly in augmenting local emergency personnel in their area. While the minimum age to join a chapter of the SSTC is only 12 (younger if the child in question possesses particularly powerful and/or dangerous powers), only members 15 and older are allowed on missions. Once a member of the SSTC reaches the age of 18 and are given an evaluation test, they are offered a position in the Silver Shield. Each major city and most rural districts have a local chapter of the SSTC, and each chapter has a member of the Silver Shield as a Commandant. Usually these are low-ranking powered members of the Silver Shield that need command experience, though in some cases a veteran non-powered member or a high ranking powered member are required. The SSTC chapter in Silver City currently has Garrett "Copycat" Creed as a Commandant. The reasoning behind this is that not only does Garrett need some command experience before he gets his next promotion, but being closer in age to the teens should make it a little easier for him to relate to them than an older member.
