The Trial of the Erlking October 1st, 2008 through October 31st, 2008 The Erlking, lord of the wildfae and the greatest of hunters, has turned his attentions to the Mortal Realm for the first time in centuries. It has been more than five hundred years since the last Wild Hunt, and almost a millennium since he last chose a single mortal as his prey. Now, with the appearance of so many Protochildren, he has decided that once again he can find a challenge on mortal soil. But the mortal world has changed drastically since the last time he set foot there. He knows little of the powers of Man and their strange magic they call technology. He knows even less about the powers of those whose spirits have woken him from his long slumber in the deepest depths of the Fae Realm. And so, as any great hunter, he has set out to learn all he can of his potential prey. Those fae under the Erlking's command have been sent to the Mortal Realm to watch and report what they see. All the while, the Erlking himself has sent out the call to the hunters of the Mortal Realm; all characters with predatory natures find themselves restless and irritable and those with docile natures are tense and ill at ease as the Erlking's psychic call resonates in their very souls. Violent crime has escalated, and both heroes and villains alike find themselves with lowered inhibitions, acting on instinct more than reason. And when it is over, the Erlking will call the Wild Hunt, and some unlucky mortal will find himself the prey of the Hunter... |

The Rise of the Golden Sword December 21st, 2008- ? No longer in the shadows, the Golden Sword has made its move and can no longer be kept a secret by the Silver Shield. In a sweeping move, they have taken over Iraq in a short but bloody coup. Coalition forces, as well as the Iraqi police, were left useless as the members of the Golden Sword wiped out the insurgency with cold, mechanical efficiency, undermining the authority of the foreign security forces and the current government all in one swoop. Rather than face an outright civil war the Iraqi government surrendered to the will of their people and gave control over to the open hands of the Golden Sword, who then demanded in no uncertain terms that Coalition forces were to be out of the country as soon as possible. Asking only for amnesty against prior crimes against the international community, the Golden Sword agreed to obey international rules and regulations and have applied to the UN. Reluctant to agree because of the nature of the new government, but unwilling to accept the consequence of an oil crisis should they refuse, the UN has granted the new government of Iraq a place on the UN. Many nations refuse to acknowledge the new government, particularly the United States, but with the looming economical issues and international opinion against them, they are unable to force action and the leaders of the opposition are forced to grit their teeth and accept that former supervillains are now ambassadors with diplomatic immunity. How this will play out over time is something no one is sure of, and few are willing to guess at. |
