"...say that the creature was between ten and fifteen feet tall and bright orange. No footage of the creature has been obtained as of yet. An interview with a spokesman for the Silver Shield had this to say: 'As the first and only defense against super-human threats, the Silver Shield has made the capture and control of this being its top priority. Every agent is on alert and will be until the situation is contained. No further questions, please.' Afterwards, a local leader of the Pure Lineage organization called a press conference, stating that-" Albrecht turned the radio off, tired of the diatribe. He had been working since the previous morning trying to discover the source of this disturbance, and had eliminated anything from Asia, Old Europe, the British Isles, and the Americas. He was currently pouring through books denoting the legends of African tribes when he doorbell rang. He sighed, marking his place in the book and walking to the door. "Yes?" he said, opening the door wide. Before him stood two people in Silver Shield uniforms, one obviously demonic in countenance and the other some sort of technological or electrical super. "I assume you are Little Devil," he said, pointing at Althea, "and you are Kilovolt. One of my divinations this morning gave me those names and the impression the Silver Shield would be contacting me soon." "You're a wolf-man," Kilovolt said, still a bit shocked. "What? Oh," Albrecht smiled and laughed. "I forgot to change back before I answered the door. My magic is easier to perform when I shed my human guise. Please come in. I apologize in advance for the wards on the threshold, Little Devil, but as I'm sure you understand foreign magic can interfere with unshielded experiments and I haven't had time to prepare for your arrival." "What's he talking about?" Kilovolt whispered aside to Lil' Devil. "It's a magic thing," she replied, shivering as she crossed the threshold and felt most of her magic being left behind. "It's like how you're supposed to wear as little as possible when building a computer at home because static electricity builds up in your clothes." "I get it," Kilovolt said. "I think." "Please, sit wherever you like," Albrecht said, coming out of the kitchen with a tray with a teapot and cups. "I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're here to ask my assistance in the matter of this orange creature that has appeared." "Well, yes but--" Kilovolt cut off suddenly as Tobor landed on the balcony outside. "Before I say anything, I want you to know the Silver Shield will pay for any damages to-" (she was briefly interrupted as Tobor walked through the door to the balcony without bothering to open the door first) "-your home." "It's to be expected," Albrecht said, looking Tobor over. "Just make sure to explain this to my landlord yourselves. She frightens me." "I already took that into consideration," Tobor said smugly. "The contractors have already been hired and sent for." Kilovolt glared daggers at Tobor, but turned back to Albrecht and too the offered cup of tea. "You have to understand, the Silver Shield's resources on the subject of magic are limited, to put it mildly." "You mean we only have two specialists and their powers are incompatible with each others," Tobor clarified, ignoring Kilovolt's glare. "This... thing... is clearly not of Fae make and doesn't meet any of the criteria of demonic work," Lil' Devil explained. "It's Old World magic, in my opinion. Cradle of the World." "Asia Minor, aka the Middle East," Albrecht said thoughtfully. "It stands to reason. I heard of a rather strange archaeological dig that was going on in Egypt recently. Apparently there was some sort of catastrophe there, and the only survivor was a graduate student who couldn't remember anything about it." "Joel Marcone," Tobor said thoughtfully, walking back out to the balcony. "If it's what I think it is," Albrecht said, pulling a book off of a shelf and thumbing through it, "You must deal with the situation delicately. I think perhaps Mr. Marcone has become the host for some ancient Aspect, a being embodying a facet of the universe. Here it is. Apparently the Egyptians managed to contain three Aspects in various tombs; one of Decay, one of Violence, and one of the four major Aspects, Chaos itself." "I'm on it," Tobor said. "I have already searched and found his address." Without another word Tobor activated his rocket boosters and flew off into the sky. "I hope he doesn't get into too much trouble with that..." Albrecht said cautiously. "Why?" Kilovolt asked. "I'd hazard a guess that the bing lies dormant until its host becomes agitated," Albrecht explained. "According to the text here, that's usually the case..." Fifteen minutes later and less than two miles away... Tobor pulled himself out of the rubble of what used to be a small bakery. The orange, inhuman creature in front of him roared and threw a small car at him, which he barely avoided by flying directly up. "This is Silver Shield agent Tobor demanding backup immediately. I am in contact with the orange creature," Tobor said, broadcasting on every frequency he could manage. "Local authorites stay clear except to assist the injured. Silver Shield, send all available units now and redirect all unavailable units ASAP. I repeat, I am in contact with-" The Transmission cut off abruptly as a chunk of street caught Tobor in the head and sent him hurtling to the ground out of control. His circuits scrambled from the blow, Tobor fought to reassert control over the situation as the beast began its advance. |

Sentinel landed right next to the beast, not even giving it the chance to turn he punched it in the side, and did absolutely nothing. He tried again, and again and again but he only succeeded in getting the creatures attention. It roared out and punched Sentinel into the ground, it stomped it's foot down on top of him and then kicked him aside. Sentinel soared through an office building, knocking out it's support beam and causing the three story building to collapse on top of him. The rubble didn't move for several seconds before Sentinel dragged himself out of the debris and looked at the creature and was hit in the face with a bus. Titan landed on top of the beast and only succeeded in slowing it down a bit. It grabbed Titan and proceeded to slam him into the ground over and over and over again before chucking him out of the way. Tigress pounced with a roar and was batted aside like a kitten. The Judge flew by pelting the beast with blasts but it did as much good as the planes in King Kong. The Beast roared and threw a car at the Judge hitting his foot and causing him to go crashing into the ground. It turned and was smacked in the face with the same bus it threw and went flying into a nearby building. Sentinel dropped the bus and breathed deep. For the first time in months he had actually been hurt and he didn't like it. "You dropped that" he mumbled. "God that things a real behemoth isn't it?" |

Tobor realigned his sensors, then moved over beside Sentinel. "The being is an embodiment of Chaos according to the expert we consulted," he said, his vocabulater crackling from the damage he had taken. "I approached him in human form near his home; my sudden appearance startled him and his transformation was exceptionally violent." "That is to be expected of such a creature," Albrecht said as he arrived on the scene, his fur ruffled and wind-blown from his run. Kilovolt and Lil'Devil were right behind him. "Chaos feeds on chaos, violence breeds chaos, and chaos breeds violence," Albrecht explained, waxing philosophical. "My research leads me to believe that only one of three things will stop this creature in its rampage: A powerful item of Order, running water, or, barring the successful application of the previous two, letting him wear himself out." "You can't expect us to just let him tear through the city," Kilovolt said immediately. "We couldn't possibly evacuate the people in time." "And we don't exactly have a whole lot of magical artifacts lying around," Lil' Devil pointed out, "aligned to Order or otherwise." "The closest body of running water is still several miles away," Tobor pointed out. "Well, a concentrated and ordered pattern performed around him would work to drain his power," Albrecht mused, "and I suppose while that was being done I could work on making it rain." "Who the hell is this guy and why are we listening to him?" Titan said, pointing after the behemoth. "While we're jabbering he's just tearing more of the city apart!" "We're listening to him because he is the best source of knowledge on this creature we have," Tobor reasoned, "even if he is just a large, furry flesh sac. I will begin flying in geometric shapes around him." Tobor took to the air, and Albrecht looked at the others. "I suggest you help the robot," he said. "Meanwhile, I need to find some colored chalk..." |

"Three more meters, turn at a 70* angle, twelve meters forward," Saurus said to himself, directing Titan as he himself ran in a separate pattern on the inside of Titan's own path. "Repeat continuously," Saurus said, batting a flying motorcycle out of the air with his tail. "Stop or speed up if need be to avoid flying debris, but do not deviate from your course unless you receive direct contact." "For a probationary member, you like to give orders," Tobor remarked as he passed by, leaving a jet stream behind him. He was several lines away from a perfect replica of Da Vinci's anatomy sketch, with the Behemoth stumbling around in the center as the Judge kept him busy. "Personally, I prefer Titan when he's silent and doing what he's told; even for an organic he is annoying." Meanwhile, Lil' Devil and Hexenwulf were busy drawing the intricacies of a magic circle in varying colors. "Switch to the green, and begin drawing in a counterclockwise direction," Hexenwulf said, himself picking up a piece of purple chalk and drawing symbols as he moved clockwise. "Time is of the essence, but do not sacrifice precision. There. Done." "Tell me again why you need this?" the Silver Blur asked, taking a break from distracting the Behemoth. "It's thaumaturgy," Lil' Devil said. "The bigger the effect, the bigger the chance that you can screw up and end up as a greasy smear on the ground. Or worse. So we're making a circle to act as a focusing lens for the power, allowing Wolfie here to cause a thunderstorm over half the city without dying in the attempt." "Why does he have to do it?" Kilovolt asked. "The circle's drawn, can't you use it? Seems to me Mr. Gottschalk would be a whole lot of help distracting that thing." "My magic doesn't work that way," Lil' Devil tried to explain. "Fiendish power is great for illusion and enchantment, but this requires a lot of transmutation and evocation. I'm good for producing and controlling fire or making temporary changes, but this is way out of my league." "Besides," Albrecht said, "the circle is keyed to Earth magic such as my own. If Lil' Devil tried to use it there are many possible outcomes, but none of them involve the weather changing." "What kind of possible outcomes are we talking about?" the Silver Blur asked, already regretting the question. "Best case scenario is it just doesn't work or gives me a mild headache," Lil' Devil replied solemnly. "Most likely a circle this focused would burn out my powers permanently, and worst case is I would end up as a stain on the scenery." "I'm ready," Albrecht said, carefully stepping into the circle. "Please do not touch the circle until I or Lil' Devil give the word." Albecht began chanting, and slowly clouds began to gather. It was the best hope they had at the moment, but it didn't look as if it would happen quickly enough to make a difference... |

"Where's our heavy artillery?!" Sentinel roared as he plowed through the street creating dozens of geometric circles around the Behemoth, ignoring the cars and debris being thrown at him. The Behemoth let out a roar as it picked up a truck and dropped the truck when a diamond man cracked him in the face with a titanium staff. "Damn, he bent it" Zirconium said. "Alright babe, he's all yours" "Feel the burn big man" Kindle said as she set fire to the shapes Sentinel had made and sent fireballs hot enough to incinerate steel into the Behemoth. "How long to we have to keep this up tin man?" "Until Lil Devil or Hexenwulf say otherwise. Now shut up and keep going" He said diving through the fire and continuing hit and run attacks on the Behemoth with Zirconium. Storms already gathering above them. |

"It's not working!" Titan screamed, unable to keep course as the Behemoth began throwing debris in random directions. A piece of street caught him in the stomach and sent him tumbling to the ground, unhurt but with the wind knocked out of him. "Keep it up!" The Judge said, his voice straining to work over the noise. "They aren't ready!" "The plan has already broken down, half-bag!" Tobor shouted back and preparing to charge the Behemoth. "Now we have to act like real heroes. Ugh, how I hate that word." The Behemoth roared a challenge a the gathered members of the Silver Shield, a roar that was answered by Saurus and echoed by the others. As one the Silver Shield swarmed the Behemoth, seemingly like ants attacking an elephant for all their effectiveness, but bringing him down was not their objective... Thunder boomed overhead, and the wind began to pick up, but there was yet no rain. "It's taking too long!" Kilovolt shouted over the booming thunder. "They're being torn apart!" Hexenwulf hazarded a look over towards where the Silver Shield vainly fought the Behemoth, barely keeping him in one spot despite all their efforts. "Break the outermost circle!" he shouted at Lil' Devil, a look of grim determination on his face. "Break the circle and then get out of here! Do it now!" "What is he--?" Kilovolt started to ask, but Lil' Devil ignored her, reaching down and wiping away part of the purple lines of the outermost circle. "Let's GO!" she creamed over the sudden explosion of sound and light, and Kilovolt wasted no time in teleporting them to a rooftop a block down the street. "What's going on?" the Blur asked, shielding her eyes against the glare. "The outermost circle was the power regulator," Lil' Devil explained. "It's like I went and turned a firehose on from a trickle to full blast. It could kill him. Probably will. But the rest of the circle will continue to focus the energy and it'll make the storm hit faster." Even as she said this the first drops of rain began to fall. In seconds it went from drizzling to moderate rain to a veritable waterfall out of the sky. Lightning crackled and danced across the landscape, thunder rumbled and rolled through the city and drowned out all other noise, and as they watched the Behemoth screamed in fury and began to shrink back in upon itself. "It's working!" Saurus roared triumphantly. Where the Behemoth once stood was a scrawny man struggling to stay on his feet. "W-where am--" he never finished his sentence, as Tobor's metal fist cuffed him in the back of his head. The man slumped to the ground in a heap. "Did you just kill him?" the Judge asked. "Unfortunately, no," Tobor said. Lil' Devil, Kilovolt, and the Silver Blur appeared next to the now smeared magic circle, the rain having washed away the chalk. In its center was a man in a t-shirt and jeans, his ody steaming in the cold rain. They rushed forward, checking his vitals, and smiles broke out on their faces. "He's alive!" |

"Tobor, No!" The Judge leapt forward and grabbed Tobor's arm, pulling him backwards, and Saurus did the same on the other side. "He is a danger to everyone around him," Tobor said, frustration coloring his tone. "We cannot contain him if he transforms again, and frankly, I have no intention of having to capture him again." "Killing him... would not... be a good... idea..." Albrecht panted, stumbling towards the gathering with Kilovolt and Lil' Devil holding him up. "If he dies... the being of Violence and Chaos will... be released into this world... without control." He paused to catch his breath, then continued. "He would be a hundred times more dangerous like that. It' going to take time, but the being needs to be imprisoned again." "Then we beat him until he ends up in a vegetative state," Tobor said, with apparent glee. "No!" Kilovolt snapped. "Bad robot! We can just keep him drugged up for the time being." "Where is the fun in that course of action?" "Shut UP, Tobor." |
