"More than enough," Kiernan said, stepping in after Ray and enveloping everyone working on the setup in fast time bubbles and Twitch in a slow one to even things out. In minutes the room was decorated, the food set up, and the cake in the middle of it all. "They should be here any minute, right?" "Umm..." Scanner said over the P.A., "Garrett's going to be a little late. Seems a large group decided to go on a stealing spree on the block of storefronts he's approaching. Really weird how well everything's coordinated; almost like they had this planned out in advance. What's weird is they seem to be stealing just enough to get attention, but nothing easily broken or damaged." And everyone gathered turned to look at Legion. "It could be worse," Splortch added helpfully. "Someone might actually try to take advantage of the situation." "You had to say it, didn't you?" Spider replied. "What?" ---------- I am going to have to have a serious talk with Legion after this is all over... Garrett thought to himself as he and Lucy picked up the 'stolen' merchandise and returned it to the various shopkeepers. To his surprise, Taurus had been in a nearby shop and had lent them a hand in chasing the 'thieves' off. When confronted about it, Taurus had sheepishly admitted that he was hoping to swipe some of the stolen items when no one was looking and hoping that the good deed would make people not suspect him. "Matt, I think you need to have another session with your counselor," Garrett said. "We're on our way there now and I know she's on duty today; why don't you come with us? If you cooperate I'll make sure you get a cafeteria pass." "Oh kay," Taurus said sullenly, stuffing his hands in his pockets and slouching as he walked alongside the two. "You aren't really a bad guy," Lucy said to Taurus. "Why keep stealing things?" "Can't help it sometimes..." |
