Heracross Singlehorn Pokemon Height: 4'11'' Weight: 120 lbs. Type: Bug/Fighting Abilities: Swarm- Boosts Bug moves when HP is below 1/3. Guts- Boosts attack by 50% when inflicted with a status condition. Availability: Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen, Diamond, Pearl Heracross can be found in Gold, Silver, and Crystal by headbutting trees in routes 29-33 and 42-46. In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, it is found in the area of the Safari Zone only accessible with the Acro Bike. In FireRed and LeafGreen, it can be found in the Pattern Bush. Lastly, in Diamond and Pearl, it is one of the rarer Pokemon to be found in honey trees Heracross Ability: Guts/Swarm Item: Life Orb/Choice Band/Toxic Orb/Flame Orb Megahorn Close Combat Stone Edge/Rock Slide Double-Edge Heracross is definitely built to be a physical sweeper. Doesn't have great speed, but it has good defenses to make up for that. Okay, the hold item depends on Heracross's ability here. If it has Guts, make it hold the Toxic Orb or Flame Orb. If it has swarm, give it the Life Orb or Choice Band. Toxic Orb and Flame Orb are two items that are new in Diamond and Pearl. Toxic Orb will badly poison the holder and Flame Orb will burn it. The AI tends to use Toxic Orb instead of Flame Orb, due to the fact that being burnt lowers Attack, but the choice is up to you. Megahorn is necessary on Heracross. It's the only Bug move that Heracross can learn, and it's one of the very few good Bud moves, at that. 120 power plus STAB makes up for the 85% accuracy. Close Combat is in there for almost the exact same reason as Megahorn. This move works particularly well with Choice Band, due to the fact that when you switch out so that you can use a different move, your stat losses will be erased too. Stone Edge takes care of Heracross's crippling Flying weakness. Plus it's a powerful move. However, Rock Slide is a good alternative. It's a little weaker, but an extra 10% accuracy is good too. Finally, Double-Edge is Heracross's last-ditch move. However, if you're using the Life Orb, you probably shouldn't use Double-Edge. Too much recoil damage. Night Slash would be a better move in this case. Alternative moves... As I said up there, Night Slash is a good move. Heracross also has Aerial Ace, Shadow Claw, and Giga Impact if you can find a good use for them. Join us again for another Pokemon of the day. |
