OMGWTFBR'SBACK.

Yeah, it's me. You all missed me. Now, prepare for greatness as Vespiquen
steps up to the writer's....um...well....DAMMIT!

Anyway, Vespiquen is the best new Bug-type this generation, with three
moves that are unique to her, and amazing defensive capabilities. It's
a shame they don't really help against her weaknesses.

#416 - Vespiquen
Type - Bug/Flying
Beehive Pokemon
Height - 3'11"
Weight - 84.9 lbs.

Trait:
Pressure: Makes PP usage two instead of one.

Evolution Chain

Evolves from a Female Combee at Level 21

Availability: Diamond, Pearl

Vespiquen, like all good final-stage bugs, can't be found in the wild.
However, you can get a Combee from the Honey Trees all over Sinnoh,
and since Combee is the most common Pokemon from said trees, this
won't take as long as you think it will.

Special Attack: 259
Special Defense: 303

Attack Order
Defend Order
Heal Order
Toxic/Power Gem/Confuse Ray/Aerial Ace/Sludge Bomb/Protect

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, let's look at Vespiquen. She appears to be a tank of sorts. And
then we look at her speed. Her 179 speed. Hell, even Octillery's faster
than her! The only real Pokemon she outspeeds is Magcargo, which you're
not gonna see used too much. Oh well.

As stated earlier, Vespiquen has THREE moves available to her only.
The first, and probably most useful, is Attack Order. Naturally, a move
with 90 base power and STAB is going to be handy in battle. Of course,
its type, along with Vespiquen's speed, don't really warrant it to be a
good move. Well, there's always UU...

Defend Order is next on our list of moves. This move increases both of
Vespiquen's defenses by one. This has uses, especially if you can get
multiple uses off, but, like with Attack Order, suffers because of Vespiquen's
speed. However, that's where the third move comes in.

Heal Order is Vespiquen's salvation. The bug version of Recover, This
can draw out a fight even longer than it should be. However, Vespiquen's
speed makes predicting when to use it even harder than it should be.
I generally use it at about seventy-five to fifty percent health for maximum
usage.

Toss-up spot! Vespiquen's last spot can go to virtually any move she
can learn. Toxic helps with stalling, even moreso with Defend/Heal Order.
Power Gem is a nice special addition to Vespiquen's attacks. Confuse
Ray is here for...well, being the best move ever. Aerial Ace is a nice
physical attack when you don't want to take the chance of Attack Order
missing. Sludge Bomb is fun, and since not many Pokemon have a use
for it, you might as well use it on someone who needs it. Protect, like
Toxic, helps with the annoyance.

Vespiquen NEEDS the Quick Claw to survive. She's not gonna be getting
anywhere with her piddling 179 Speed anytime soon. Although, if I had
to tote around a giant beehive where my legs should be, I wouldn't be
going anywhere, either.

Any logical alternate moves that could go here were thrown out the window
when I typed that Fifth paragraph. I imagine Swagger, Captivate, and
Destiny Bond could find some use here and there, though.

Vespiquen is awesome. She's the best Bug Pokemon to come out of
this generation, possibly tied with Yanmega. Anyway, I need to make
some posts in this forum, so join me tomorrow for another Pokemon
Of The Day!
