I'm only thirteen and have started thinking about a job. I think that, like you, it is good to start off early. I have a few prospects lined up. Nothing fancy, things like being a clerk or something. If you could get a job with your parents later on, that puts you in a good position. For example, my father majored in civil engineering in order to work with his father's construction company. He ended up owning the company. I'm learning software design to help with my dad's newest project, 3-D global satalite imaging. Keep in mind though, that in a few years the jobs could change very easily, so don't be dead set on anything just yet. |

As a matter of fact, I am 18 now, so I really have to think of my future. not just the next few years, but for my entire life. It's hard, since I like a lot of things, but on all of them I ain't too good.. |

Then find your interests and work from there. Find your strengths and build them so the balance out your weaknesses. I personally am going to work on my computer graphics. I think I can either get good money on that or my computer skills in general. In my 8th grade computer class, I passes with a 95% average...everyone kept asking me to come over and help them whenever they couldn't do something. I've been thinking about getting a job with the Geek Squad...you know, those guys who come out and fix your computer...because I'm REALLY good at that stuff. BTW I'm 15, and the only money I get is from holidays, birthdays, and (one) yard mowing. <_< |

I'm 15, and I've nailed down the basics of what I want to do with my life. My amazing two-step career plan: 1. Decide your long-term plan, what you want to do. For a job, I basically say find something that you're good at and like doing, then find a job that goes with that. (Example: I want to be a professional author) 2. Pick classes in school(My example: Creative Writing, Accelerated English, etc) and jobs (Newspapers or magazines' short story competitions) that will help you prepare for your chosen career choice. |

Eh, if that isn't the story of my life. That's just one of the things in life you're just going to have to grin and bear. |
