Pokemon Of The Day - Luxio
Topic Started: Jun 27 2007, 03:29 AM (199 Views)
Blood Rogue
The Scarlet Strategist
Blood Rogue was busy. Now, today's Pokemon is Luxio. We all know
him, particularly because we all used him for the E4 Battle (Because it
was either him, the squirrel, or the fat-ass Uberchu). He may not be
evolved, but at least he can try.

#404 - Luxio
Type - Electric
Spark Pokemon
Height - 2'11"
Weight - 67.2 lbs.

Abilities:
Intimidate - Halves enemies Attack stat
Rivalry - Increases Attack when opponent is of the same gender

Evolution Chain

Evolves from Shinx at Level 15
Evolves to Luxray at Level 30

Availability: Diamond, Pearl

Wild Luxio can be found in the grass of the Fuego Ironworks. Shinx can
be caught there too, as well as in Route 202.

Moveset:
Item: Bright Powder
Trait: Intimidate/Rivalry

Stats:
HP: 324
Attack: 269
Defense: 197
Special Attack: 219
Special Defense: 197
Speed: 219

Charge
Thunder Fang
Ice Fang
Scary Face

Ok. One look at Luxio tells you that he's not the greatest thing in the
world. His defenses are awful, and his Speed, which is what Electric Pokemon
thrive on, is pretty low compared to his kin (Electrode, Raichu, Rotom, etc.).
Of course, his Attack Stat is higher than a good deal of Electrics, so he's
capable of some power.

Charge is here for the sole purpose of helping Thunder Fang. Charge
will power up Luxio's electric moves, while simultaneously increasing his
Special Defense. This would be good, if his main weakness, Earthquake,
wasn't a Physical Attack. If anything, it can help if your opponent switches.

Thunder Fang is fun. It's basically Thunderbolt for a Physical Pokemon.
With STAB, Luxio's Attack, and Charge, this attack can cripple any Water
or Flying type that stands in his way (minus Gliscor and those Water/Ground types).

Ice Fang is the trump card in Luxio's set. This is to be used when you
think that the opponent is going to send in his Ground type. Ground
Pokemon are slow, so if you hit it when it comes in, you can basically
get two hits in, and that will kill the Ground Pokemon.

Scary Face is here to help Luxio's dismal Speed stat. I seriously don't
think that Luxio can survive long enough to benefit from Scary Face.
If he can live, however, it will help him greatly, as well as his teammates.

Bright Powder is like a godsend for Luxio. As said above, Luxio's defenses
are crap, and he needs all the help he can get to survive. When he becomes
a Luxray, this should be easier, but until then, he needs help. Either of
Luxio's traits can help in battle, but they need to come into play at the
right time. Intimidate is good if your opponent is a Physical Sweeper.
Rivalry helps if your opponent has a low defense and the same gender.

Ok, we're done. Join me tomorrow for another Pokemon Of The Day!
