Do you think that it would be a good idea to have a battling dictionary? Like make a place to post battling terms like Uber and sweeper, etc... Anyone think it's a good idea?

--

Okay, I'm gonna use this post to make the dictionary. I'll just edit it whenever anything new is added. Keep bumping this until it gets stickied!

Annoyer- A Pokemon with moves that make it difficult for the opponent to fight back, such as Protect, Confuse Ray, and Attract.

BatonPasser- A Pokemon that uses repeated stat-boosting moves, (and, usually, Substitute) then Baton Pass to give them to a Pokemon that needs them more. This frees up moveslots in the Pokemon that the moves are passed to.

BoltBeam- Using Thunderbolt and Ice Beam in the same moveset. Only a few Pokemon are resistan to both these moves, so it's good for getting at least nuetral damage in on just about anything.

ChoiceBander- A sweeper holding a Choice Band. Choice Band boosts the power of the first move you use, but you can only use that move until the Pokemon is switched out.

Endflailing- Using Endure to bring your Pokemon's health down to one. The Salac Berry they are holding activates, and Flail becomes a 200 power attack. This strategy can also be performed with Reversal. In this case it is called Endrevving.

FEAR- A setup for Rattata that is almost guaranteed to take out one of the opponent's Pokemon. The user sends out a level 1 Pokemon, usually a Rattata, equipped with Focus Sash. The opponent will usually attempt to knock out Rattata in the first turn, but the Focus Sash will stop this. Rattata uses Endeavor, lowering the opponent's health to one. Rattata then uses Quick Attack, defeating oponent.

Green_Pikachu- An infamous trainer who thought up crazy excuses to get out of tournament battles. This term is now used by a few people to refer to anyone who does the same thing. Sometimes abbreviated as GP.

Hax- Exceptional luck. Also refers to something that is hacked or done by Action Replay. i.e., in Diamond and Pearl, Commander Mars battles with a level 16 Purugly, even though Glameows don't evolve until the 30's.

Hazer- A hazer is a Pokemon that uses Haze to cancel out stat-boosting or status-inflicting moves used by the opponent.

HealBeller- A Pokemon with the move Heal Bell. This type of Pokemon is usually only used to use Heal Bell to cure the trainer's Pokemon. Also known as a Healer or Cleric.

HypnoPuncher- The user attacks with a sleep-inducing move, then attacks with Focus Punch, which will most likely not be disrupted.

Metropoke- A Pokemon whose moves are all Metronome. These are usually used in battles where all Pokemon are Metropokes, just for fun.

Parattraconfuser- A Pokemon that can paralyze, attract, and confuse the opponent at the same time. A very useful annoyer.

Perishtrapping- Using Mean Look to prevent the opponent from escaping, then using Perish Song to KO them.

Shuffler- A Pokemon with Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, as well as Roar or Whirlwind. This moveset is designed to inflict a status condition on all the opponents.

SkarmBliss- A strategy that involves placing both Skarmory, an excellent physical wall, and Blissey, an excellent special wall, on the same team.

Spiker- A Pokemon with the move Spikes or Toxic Spikes. They may also know Roar or Whirlwind, which are used to force Spikes or Toxic Spikes to take effect.

Sponge- A Pokemon with high Special Defense designed to take a lot of damage while slowly weakening the enemy. Also known as a Special Wall.

Sporepunching- HypnoPunching using Spore. This moveset is only available to Breloom.

STAB- Short for "same-type attack bonus". In short, if a Pokemon is the same type as an offensive move it uses, the move's power is multiplied by 1.5

Staller- A Pokemon designed to slowly take out the opponent with moves like Toxic and Will-O-Wisp.

Subflailing- Same as Endflailing, except the Pokemon uses substitute until they are down to one HP.

SubPasser- A Pokemon that attacks with Substitue, then with Baton Pass to give its Substitute to the next Pokemon. A subpasser usually has high HP, so that its Substitute will last longer.

SubPuncher- Similar to a HypnoPuncher. A type of strategy used where the user attacks with Substitute on one turn, then Focus Punch on the next turn. This lowers the chances of Focus Punch being disrupted.

SunnyBeamer- A Pokemon with Sunny Day and Solarbeam. Sunny Day gets rid of the one-turn penalty when using Solarbeam, allowing the user to attack with Solarbeam repeatedly.

Sweeper- An all-offensive Pokemon (though sometimes with a way to heal itself) that is designed to take on the opponent's team by itself.

Tank- A pokemon with high Defense and Special Defense designed to remain in the ring a long time and use high-powered attacks. Most likely holds a Shell Bell.

Trapper- This a Pokemon with Arena Trap, which prevents the opponents from switching out, and a move like Will-O-Wisp, Toxic, or Confuse Ray.

TrickBander- A Pokemon holding Choice Band that knows Trick. The trickbander will pass the Choice Band to an opponent, which can be devestating if used properly.

Uber- A Pokemon that is severly overpowered. Most people prefer not to battle with Ubers.
Tier lists vary in some places, so correct me if I'm wrong with this list of Ubers: All forms of Deoxys, Groudon, Ho-oh, Kyogre, Latias, Latios, Lugia, Mew, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Wobbufet, Wynaut.

Wall- A Sponge, but with high Defense. Can also be called a Physical Wall.

WishPasser- The user attacks with Wish, then is switched out so that the next Pokemon is healed.

CLAUSES SECTION-
Double Team Clause- This clause has two interpretations:
1. Evasion-raising moves are banned.
2. Evasion-raising moves are limited to one moveset on one Pokemon.

Explosion/Self-KO Clause- If your last Pokemon faints due to your own move (i.e., Explosion), you lose.

Freeze Clause- No two Pokemon on one trainer's team may be frozen at the same time.

GP Clause/Fleeing Clause- If you run from the battle, you lose. Named after Green_Pikachu

Hidden Power Clause- This clause has two interpretations:
1. Hidden Power is banned.
2. Hidden Power is banned on legendaries.

Item Clause- No two Pokemon may be holding the same item.

OHKO Clause- One-hit KO moves are banned.

Pinch Berry Clause- Berries whose effects are describe as "Raises *stat* in a pinch" are banned, except for the Liechi Berry.

Sleep Clause- More than one Pokemon on each trainer's team may not be put to sleep. Self-induced sleep (Rest) and sleep from Effect Spore don't count towards this limit.

Uber Clause- Ubers are banned. This rule is almost always in effect.

Wobbufet Clause- In places where Wobbufet and Wynaut are not considered Ubers, this clause bans them.

I'm just going to trust everyone to know from now on that the "guest" is BlakAdder.

We should probably get a list of terms that need defining. Here are a few I can think of:
Uber
Sweeper
Staller
Wall
SubPuncher

Any others?
