Prologue
Eight-year-old Kit had just arrived at the gate of the Academy, his trusty Shinx at his side.
"There it is, Shinx," he said. "Pokemon Academy. Just you and me. I can't wait to see my big brothers and big sister, some of the profesors here. And the coolest thing is, I'm the youngest trainer to be admitted here!" By now, Kit was jumping up and down with excitement, and Shinx could barely contain himself.
The gates opened up and Kit, as well as the other students, rushed in, with their Pokemon at their side. They stopped when they saw Kit's oldest brother, Reed, standing there with a megaphone.
"Welcome, all of you, to Pokemon Academy! My name is Profesor Reed." Kit was bouncing on his toes with glee. Reed continued, "I am here to welcome you new trainers, however young or old you are, howevermuch experience you have, however far you have come, to Pokemon Academy!"
The small crowd followed Reed in the tour, as he showed them around the academy.
"The interesting thing about our Academy, is that you don't have a pre-set schedule. You can go to any class you want every day. But you have to be there before the class starts, and you have to stay throughout the class. The practice arenas are open with reservations, but if there's an empty arena, you may use it without a reservation.
"We have a tournament hall in the west side of the academy. The seating is large enough that we could seat the enitre school for a tournament. Unfortunately, there isn't a toureny going on right now, so we have to move on." Most of the crowd gave a dejected sigh or moaned "Awww...", but nevertheless, they followed Reed along.
"The cafetria is open at any time. It's a serve-yourself buffet, as well as there being food for your Pokemon. This, however, is also a teaching tool. Feed your Pokemon too much, and they'll move too slow. Feed them too little, and they'll be malnourished and weak.
"And lastly, we have the dorms. Boys' dorms and girls' dorms of course. You will be matched up with someone based on the compatability test you will take in a moment. And, for that, I turn you over to Profesor Morgan." Kit squealed, as he knew he was about to see his older sister again.

Chapter 1: The Compatibility Test
Morgan walked out in front of the crowd and took the megaphone from Reed. "Hello, new students!" she shouted. "As Profesor Reed just said, I'm Profesor Morgan! In a second, you're going to take a compatibilty test to see who you're going to be paired up with as a roommate. Please answer the questions truthfully. You have as long as you want to finish the test. Just go into your respective dormwhen you're finished and and turn it into one of the profesors there.
"One more thing. The academy's curfew is 9 o'clock. You must be in your dorm by then. And lights-out is at 10. You must be in your bed with lights out at that time. Report back to your dorm at curfew, and we will tell you your room number."
After this, Reed and Morgan each went around passing out the test. Kit started his as soon as he got it.

1. What Pokemon have you brought with you?
My Shinx, of course
2. If you had to describe your Pokemon in one word, what would it be?
Impish
3. List some of your favorite things
Rock music, winning a battle, video games
4. List some things you strongly dislike
Losing a battle, girls(Kit shuddered as he wrote that last word)

"Hey, Reed!" Morgan deliberately shouted through the megaphone.
Reed took the megaphone from Morgan. "What?!" he shouted back, in an attempt to damage her hearing as much as she did his.
Morgan, with the megaphone again: "You know how the tournament battlefield's open right now?"
Reed knew where this was going. "Yes..."
"How about we have a quick battle? Just to get our new students fired up about the school year." The crowd exploded at this, a chance to see two profesors go at it.
Unable to say no to he entire crowd, Reed groaned "All right, fine." The crowd cheered.
"Everyone, follow us to the arena!" Morgan shouted.

Ok, let's take a crack at this.

The chapters are a little too short for my tastes. I find that, if you can cram it all
into a tiny monitor screen, it needs to be a bit longer.

Also, try not to leave cliffhangers at the end of chapters. I totally wanted to see
that battle between Reed and Morgan, but it hasnt happened yet. :(

Don't worry I'm working on it. I'm just still deciding how I want it to turn out. I'm writing this fan fic with no real end in mind. I also wasn't aware that chapters were "supposed" to be that long. BTW, I'm posting this on a seperate site as well. I will keep posting it here though, but if Charzardrake doesn't come back, I may ask someone else to do that ad-siggy for me.

Chapter 2- Battle of the Sexes
The crowd shifted into the tournament stadium, which was much larger thank Kit expected. Morgan and Reed walked over to the opposite side, where a few senior students were hanging out. They talked for a moment, and then Kit realized that they were asking the senior students to referee.
One of the students nodded and stepped up onto the official's stand, and another climbed into the announcer booth. "Welcome, new students," the one in the announcer booth said over the intercom. "If you could please take a seat in the stands, your introductory battle will start."
The referee, putting on a lapel microphone, announced the rules. "This is to be a two-on-two Pokemon battle between Professor Reed and Professor Morgan. No items will be used, and the trainers may not switch Pokemon except when their Pokemon is knocked out."
Morgan and Reed, also wearing microphones so that their Pokemon and the audience could be sure to hear them, shook hands, and looked each other in the eye. "May the better trainer win," Reed said.
"Don't worry," Morgan said. "She will."
They each went to their respective side of the battlefield. "And that means the battle is ready to start!" the announcer shouted. The crowd exploded with excited cheers. Kit laughed as he realized he had no choice but to root for both of them.
Reed drew a Pokeball from his side and threw it into the air. "Absol, front and center!" he shouted and Absol sprang from the ball and landed on its respective side of the field.
"Absol, huh?" Morgan asked. "Okay, then. Go, Vespiquen!" Morgan threw her Pokeball and her Vespiquen was released.
"And the trainers have chosen their Pokemon! Who will win?"
'Vespiquen's a bug type,' Kit thought. 'And Absol's a dark type. Morgan has a bit of an advantage.'
"Okay, Absol! Psycho Cut!" Reed shouted, and Absol leaped at Vespiquen, the blade on its head glowing purplish-pink.
"Dodge it, Vespiquen!" Morgan shouted. Vespiquen was barely able to dodge the attack.
"No problem. Use Night Slash now!" When Absol landed, it turned quickly on its feet and again jumped up to slash Vespiquen.
"Use Defend Order!" Vespiquen made a strange humming noise, and from the honeycombs on her body, a swarm of Combees came out and formed a wall in front of their queen. Sure enough, Absol's attack was blocked. "Now use Attack Order!" Morgan said. Vespiquen hummed again, and the Combees dive-bombed Absol, who fell back from the attack.
"Absol!" Reed shouted. "Are you okay?" Absol stood back up and nodded. "Good. Try another Psycho Cut!" Absol jumped into the air again.
"Head it off with Attack Order!"
"Just what I expected. Use Detect!" Absol's eyes glowed blue, and it was able to see what the Combees where about to do. It used this to its advantage and moved between the Combees. "Now use Night Slash!" While the Combees were still turning around, Absol leaped and slashed Vespiquen. "Good! Let's end this with Flamethrower!"
"Defend Order!" The Combees managed to guard Vespiquen before Flamethrower connected, and they took the brunt of the blow. However, Vespiquen did get hurt from the attack.
"Ha! Looks like your Vespiquen's taken a beating."
"She's just getting warmed up. Use Heal Order." The Combees retreated into Vespiquen's honeycombs, and came out with honey, which they fed to Vespiquen. It rose again, ready to fight.
"Darn... Absol can't heal, but Vespiquen can. This isn't good."
"Attack Order again!" The Combee surged out and rammed Absol, who fell back to the ground.
After a few seconds, the official raised his blue flag, the one on Morgan's side. "Absol is unable to battle. Vespiquen is the winner!"
“Absol, return,” he said, bringing Absol back into the ball. ‘Let’s see… he thought. Vespiquen really relies on those Combees, so I need a way to keep them busy.’ Then the idea hit him. “Go, Abomasnow!” Reed sent out his favorite powerhouse, and almost immediately, clouds formed and it started to hail.
“Sending out a grass type against a bug type?” Morgan asked confidently. “Not so smart. Vespiquen, use Attack Order!” Vespiquen sent her Combees at Abomasnow, but they quickly were pounded by the hail, and flew back to the protection of Vespiquen’s honeycombs. “What the heck?” Morgan shouted.
“It’s elementary, Morgan. Your Combees can’t stand the hail, which is the exact reason I used Abomasnow. I’m afraid this is checkmate. Use Wood Hammer, Abomasnow!” Abomasnow leaped at Vespiquen and punched with all its might. Vespiquen went down.
This time the official raised his red flag. “Vespiquen is unable to battle. Abomasnow is the winner!”
“Both trainers are down to one Pokemon!” the announcer stated. “Which one will Morgan choose?”
Morgan, after a long period of thought, pulled out another pokeball. She reluctantly threw it and said “Go, Rapidash.” Her prized Pokemon burst forth. Morgan really didn’t want to use Rapidash, but it was her best choice against Abomasnow. “Okay, let’s make this quick. Use Bounce!” Rapidash leapt up off the ground and dove for Abomasnow.
“Abomasnow, Water Pulse!” Abomasnow spat rings of water at Rapidash, heading it off in midair.
“Rapidash, no!” Morgan shouted, but Rapidash stood back up. “Okay, I can’t bear to see you suffer. Use Flare Blitz to finish this!” Rapidash surrounded itself with flames and charged straight at Abomasnow.
“Okay, Abomasnow, this is your chance! Use Blizzard!” Abomasnow’s attack met with Rapidash, who was slowed as a result.
“This is going to be a close call,” the announcer said. “Only one Pokemon’s going to come out of this.” Rapidash kept charging on, and Abomasnow kept trying to push it back.
Eventually, Abomasnow collapsed out of exhaustion, and Rapidash burst forth and blew it away. “Abomasnow is unable to battle! The victory goes to Morgan!”
“Yes!” Morgan shouted, rushing to the field to hug her Rapidash. “I knew you could do it, sweetie! You’re so awesome!”
Reed called Abomasnow back to its ball. “You take a nice, long rest, buddy. You fought hard.” He then directed his attention to the audience. “Thank you all for watching our battle. I hope this has taught you a thing or two about battling. Go about your business now, and remember to turn your compatibility tests in before curfew.”
Kit did go about his business, which was saying hello to his siblings again.

Chapter 3: The Bully Showdown
"Kit!" Reed and Morgan both shouted as their little brother rushed toward them. Morgan hugged him tightly and Reed mussed up his hair. "Good to see ya, bro!" Reed said.
"Great to see you too! This place is so awesome!" He then remembered that something was missing. "Where's Vince? I haven't seen him yet." Vince was Kit's 13-year-old brother. That made him the youngest, not counting Kit.
"Sorry to say, but he didn't get the chance to be a professor this year," Morgan said. "So, he decided to stay here and train for another year and see if he could make it next year."
"Can we see him?"
"Sure," Reed said. "He's probably in the training facility right now." He turned to Morgan. "I'll take him. You go ahead and heal up Vespiquen and Rapidash."
Morgan nodded and kissed Kit on the cheek. "See you around, Kit." As soon as Morgan was out of earshot, Kit wretched and rubbed the area on the cheek where Morgan kissed him. Reed grinned and lead Kit to the training facility.
"This place has some of the most state-of-the-art equipment in it," Reed said. "It can accomidate nearly any kind of Pokemon. Let's see right now, Vince is usually on the heavy bags..." Reed looked over and saw that his brother was exactly where he normally was, along with his trusty Hitmonchan. "Vince!" he shouted, and Vince snapped his head up from his excercises and walked over."
"Wassup?" he asked, then he suddenly noticed the small visitor at Reed's side. "Kit, is that you?" Kit nodded and grinned as Vince acted as if he was going to punch him in the stomach. "Oh, man, it's been a while! You've grown up."
"And I've got my own Pokemon, too! Check it out!" He pulled out his Pokeball and threw it into the air. "Go, Shinx!" he shouted, and Shinx burst forth and shouted "Shinx!"
"Oh, yeah!" Vince said. "I remember hearing about you getting a Shinx." He rubbed Shinx's fur. "Does Shinx know a whole lot of attacks yet?"
"Not really," Kit said. "It was born with Quick Attack somehow-"
"An egg move," Reed said.
"Huh?" Kit said."
"It's... a bit complicated to be honest. You'll learn about it when you start taking your classes. Go on."
"Anyhow, other than Quick Attack, it knows Tackle and Leer. It knows Charge, too, but that won't do me a whole lot of good until Shinx learns an electric attack."
"Awesome," Vince said. "Shinx looks real smart." Shinx grinned proudly at Vince's last remark. "He could grow to be real strong one day."
"Thank you," Kit said.
"Hey, sorry I have to go, but my Pokemon and I are on a strict training regimen." He punched Kit lightly in the shoulder and ran off. "Maybe I'll see you in class soon!"
Reed tapped Kit on the shoulder. "I've gotta go too. Absol and Abomasnow need to be healed up after my battle with Morgan."
"Okay," Kit said. "See you soon!"
-----------------
Kit was leaving the cafeteria later that day, with Shinx at his side, when he was tapped forcefully on the back of the head. He turned around and saw a group of three older students, probably 16 or 17, standing behind him.
The student in the middle walked closer to him. "Hey, kid."
"It's Kit," Kit said, looking the other student in the eye.
"Good for you," he said, not seeming to take much notice. "Name's Hank. These are my friends," he said motioning behind himself to the other two. "Names are Don and Lora." They both were staring Kit down too. Shinx started to make his fur stand up, not trusting any of them.
"We're what you'd call the 'leaders' of the academy. If you want to have an easy life here, you don't listen to what the professors say. You listen to what we say. Capisce?"
Kit scoffed. "Sorry, but I'm not going to listen to someone I just met, especially if he fixes his hair so that he looks like a messed-up Staraptor," he said, referring to Hank's hair-do, which was black and red, and covered one eye.
Hank clenched his fists, and all three of them drew a Pokeball from their belt. "Well, half-pint, as was going to let you out of your 'initiation', but that little act of idiocy just made me change my mind." He threw his Pokeball into the air. "Go, Gachomp!" he shouted, and the six-foot dragon jumped out of the ball.
Don and Lora did the same. "Go, Weavile!" Don shouted, letting his little menace out.
"Medicham, go!" Lora shouted, and her Pokemon leapt forth too.
"Don't tell me all three of you are going to fight Shinx at once!" Kit shouted in surprise.
"That's exactly what we're going to do, shorty. And there isn't a thing you can do about it." They each ordered their Pokemon to let loose its most powerful attack, and Shinx was blown away entirely.
"Shinx!" Kit shouted as the semi-concious Shinx was knocked into the air by the three attacks. Kit ran quickly and caught Shinx before it hit the ground.
"Hmph." Hank surveyed the situation. "Your Shinx is actually still concious. I think I should fix that. Gachomp, Dragon Claw!" Gachomp dashed at Shinx and Kit with incredible speed, and Kit closed his eyes in fear.
Out of nowhere, he heard a familiar voice shout "Hitmonchan, Mach Punch!" and almost instantly, there was a crushing sound. Kit opened his eyes and saw Vince's Hitmonchan standing in front of him, and Hank's Gachomp knocked back a fair distance. He turned his head and saw Reed, Morgan, and Vince running to the scene, with Vespiquen and Rapidash alongside them.
The three of them instantly ran to Kit, asking him if he and Shinx were okay. "I'm fine," was Kit's response, "but Shinx was hurt bad. I need to get him to an emergency room."
Reed looked to the other two. "I'll get him to the Pokemon Center. You two handle these assholes." The other two nodded and turned to face the bullies.
Hank looked at them hopelessly and shrugged his shoulders. "Professors, come on, it was just some harmless fun."
As Kit and Reed were rushing down the road, they could hear Morgan and Vince exploding at the three troublemakers. "HARMLESS?!"
"THAT'S YOUR IDEA OF FUN?!"
"YOU COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HURT OUR BROTHER AND YOU REALLY DID A NUMBER ON HIS SHINX!"
"IF IT WERE UP TO ME I'D HAVE YOU BASTARDS THROWN OUT OF THE SCHOOL!"
It went on, but Kit eventually could hear no more. He honestly didn't care, though. All he cared about was making sure Shinx was safe.
------------------------
A while later, Kit was waiting anxiously in the Pokemon center, fighting back tears, as Reed comforted him, telling him everything was going to be okay.
Soon enough, Nurse Joy walked calmly through the door holding Shinx in her arms. "Shinx is going to be fine. He really took a beating, but we were able to bandage him up."
"Shinx!" Kit shouted, and he rushed and hugged Shinx tightly.

Chapter 4: After A Long And Stressful Day
That evening at curfew, the new students started to report to the dorm. Kit walked up to Morgan and Reed. "Sorry, guys," he said. "I didn't get a chance to finish my compatibility test, 'cause of what all happened today."
"No problem," Reed said. "We understand."
"Besides," Morgan said. "We already know you, so we managed to pair you up with someone anyway."
"Thanks, guys," he said. "What's my room number?"
Reed handed him a key. "It's Room 487. This key will get you in there."
The three of them bid each other good night, and Kit went and found his room. When he got there, there was already another trainer and his Chingling in there. "Oh, hi," he said. "You must be my roommate. My name's Nicholas, and this is Chingling."
"Chingling!" the little jingle-bell Pokemon shouted joyfully.
"Oh, hi. Good to meet you. I'm Kit and this is Shinx."
"Shinx," Shinx said, bowing slightly.
"Oh, you must be that guy..." Nicholas said. "The one Hank was picking on..."
"Yeah... I really don't want to talk about that."
"Oh, sorry. I guess you just want to get to sleep, huh?"
"Yeah, it's been a long day. I hope you don't mind."
"It's cool. I just have one question. Is it true that Professor Reed and Professor Morgan are your brother and sister?"
"Sure as I'm standin' here," Kit said.
"Wow. That's cool. Are they nice? It's my first year here."
"Oh, yeah, they're great once you get to know them. Do you know anyone here?"
"No, I'm on my own, besides Chingling. I'm an only child anyway, and my parents aren't home a lot. We can still phone them while I'm here at the Academy, though."
Shinx and Chingling both yawned, interrupting their discussion. "Well," Kit said. "I guess it's time for me to get to bed too. I want to get up early tomorrow morning."
"Sounds good to me," Nicholas said, stretching. "G'night, roomie."
"Good night," Kit said, and flopped down on his bed without bothering to change clothes or recall Shinx to its Pokeball. Shinx simply curled up in front of Kit and fell asleep too. 'Well,' Kit thought, 'maybe tomorrow won't be so rough.'
