What a pain it was to have to be so mysterious about a trip to the hospital. She had opted for using her mother's name, but naturally that wasn't the look she wanted. Who knew who it was since it was one of those random picks. At the time she hadn't cared. She wanted to not feel crap after that damn idiots great plan about Malius proving himself. Whatever.

The healer's had taken care of the the cuts as the bleeding had already been stopped, but Danielle had to be given blood to make up for the loss. Not how she had wanted to spend the day, no. To her surprise though Thomus was still hanging around. Best to know your greatest asset isn't dead right?

"I think being around you is becoming dangerous," she joked, adapting an instant dislike for not hearing her own voice.

Thank merlin the potion wouldn't last long. Just long enough for the healer's to be pleased that she was all stitched back up and without complications. Hm last time she had been here she had bothered that one healer half to the death. Shame he wasn't around again.

Just one single damn time Thomus tried to be the better person. Help his sister against his father`s wishes. Sure, he never wanted her hurt, but if Edward told him to do something, Thomus usually did. It figures that the one time he tried to help her, she just decided to screw him over. Well, fine, not she, but her…. Boy friend man. Were they together? Either way, Thomus couldn`t give a damn.

They both took polyjuice, because the guy he wanted to bring Danielle to wasn`t around to be found and the only possibility left was Mungos. And of course, they couldn`t go as their actual selves… Thomus had done enough of bad deeds in his life not to be treated well by others.

As Danielle spoke, Thomus turned to look at her, as he had been facing the window before. She looked strange not being herself. And of course, it was Thom`s luck to grab a hair of a random guy and therefore end up looking like a balding, middle aged prick with a beer belly. Amazing.

”I never said it wouldn`t be. Besides, it wasn`t exactly a job application, so to speak.” He mumbled out, feeling absolutely grumpy.

"Cheer up. The potion doesn't last that long," Danielle reminded.

She wasn't thrilled to be not herself either. Blonde wasn't her color for one, and two? She just didn't like it. That summed it up. This person clearly did not realize that sometimes you were too damn small. Hello, a little weight doesn't hurt anyone.

"Why are you still around anyway? I mean you surprised me back there. You apparently do have people skills."

Pressing him on any topic was never a good option, but did she care? Of course not. It was all fun and games till he got angry. Though he was already grumpy. She should be grumpy about the situation, but she was attempting to be her usual sarcastic self.

"You know, it was cute how you threatened Malius for hurting me. Aw you do care," Danielle teased further.

Right. Leave it up to Danielle to be a total idiot sometimes. There were moments when Thomus really wished that she`d be just… different. Not the usual annoying self. ”You think that the thing I`m concerned about is this… look?” He asked, not really wanting an answer, but just trying to point out how idiotic she was being.

He hoped that the talking would be over at that, but obviously it wasn`t. At her next question he just frowned and looked out the window again. He wasn`t going to answer that because it would just make no damn difference anyway.

And of course, the talking STILL didn`t end here. At her last comment, Thomus` head turned to look at her. Even with a different face, his facial expressions were the same - at that very moment it was a frown. ”Right.” He blurted, still frowning. ”Of course, I got angry because I care about you and NOT because I highly doubt that your father could seduce Balthazar. Yeah, you`re right. I just care for you.” He spoke, his tone sarcastic as he glanced at the window once more.

”Get your head out of your ass, will you?” Edward didn`t know about Balthazar. Of course the idiot didn`t realize how important to the plan Danielle had became. At time Thomus hated that.

Figured he couldn't just have a good attitude about anything. She was used to it though and simply shrugged off most comments.

"You seriously need to stop being such a downer about everything. I was joking. Something you haven't learned how to do yet apparently," Danielle told him as she scooted herself up so she could sit up better. "I've done nothing but listen to and do what you've said so I would think you would be nicer."

Half the time she could care less. Sometimes it just irked her. She was doing the best she could over that stupid book, and so he should be happy about at least that. She put up with Balthazar for merlin's sake.

"Onto topic's no more brighter, what do you think that whole thing was about back there? I mean you think they would just give up that easily? That would be stupid."

Thomus tried his best to ignore her comments. At one point he actually considered leaving the room and just going for a walk. But then he`d have to deal with other people and quite frankly it wasn`t his cup of tea. ”Done NOTHING?” He suddenly exclaimed, his eyes on her once again, obvious annoyance in them.

”You LOST the BOOK.” He spoke in a slow voice as if talking with a little child who just can`t understand something. Although the irritation wasn`t gone from his face as he glanced at the clock. The potion should wear off soon. At least he thought it would. He was sick of not being himself.

He took a couple of deep breath, trying to calm down. Yelling would do them no good. Even more, it could make Healers come in and that would be just unlucky. At her question his raised his eyebrow. ”Give up? Merlin… they were there because they wanted to be there. Monica was silent which… frankly never happens and that ~censored~ Raziel was trying to prove something. They were trying to make a deal.” Once again he adapted the tone of speaking with an idiot child.

”I seriously don`t understand how come you just keep getting dumber and dumber…” He mumbled finally. The truth was that he was simply… irritated. Not even at her. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Huh, yelling. That was new. Danielle didn't flinch away, but she did frown. Well, he was in a sour mood wasn't he?

"I understand I lost the book of oh so much importance, but damn, calm down."

She was willing to take orders without batting an eye, but this yelling business? She didn't appreciate it at all. The problem was Thomus was...well her superior really.

"I get your like, whatever above me and you make the rules and so on, but I'm attempting conversation with you. I should be grumpy as all hell all things considered, but I'm not. I ran the stupid errands this morning and I even looked into a lead on the book."

Her tone was a little more harsh than her usual upbeat attitude. It probably didn't go unnoticed, but it sounded odd not being in her own voice. She was ready to get up and go home then if he wanted to be a jerk today.

That time Thomus didn`t interrupt her, didn`t answer her. Not until she was done speaking. He allowed her to go on. But not because he understood and really not because he appreciated it. Simply because he was trying his best not to lose his temper. As she was done he sighed loudly and turned to the bed.

Walking up to it, Thomus sat down on the edge of the bed and glanced at Danielle. ”Danielle…. Danielle Danielle Danielle…” He murmured while shaking his head.

Then he leaned down to her and grabbed her by her cheeks, digging his fingers into her skin, his face suddenly twisted in anger. ”If it weren`t for me, you`d be dead right now. Nothing but a pile of broken bones and torn flesh. Your father would probably die soon as well because, let`s face it, he cannot do your job. And then I`d be even grumpier than right now because things I have worked on, would crumble.” He hissed, glaring her right in the eye.

Letting go of her face he pulled away and stood up. ”What, do you want me to say a big thank you for all your hard work? Maybe I should even HUG you?” Shakes his head. ”Learn you Goddamn place!”

Danielle knew better usually than to push him too far. Typically she could tell when she had crossed the line, but today she didn't care. She was full of opinions at all times, and she had simply wanted to talk to him. That conversation had gone south and now he was all sorts of angry. Frustrating. Attempting to be his friend apparently wasn't happening. It was just simple business associates then.

When he grabbed her face, she showed a momentary glimpse of fear. Then it turned into regular old disgust.

"My place? I'm not one of your stupid pureblood bimbo's that follows some kind of rank or something! I do my job like you ask, and I barely question you. Have I complained? No! So no, there's no place as you put it. All I've attempted is conversation with you and you throw a fit over it. I'm done trying."

Composing herself she pressed her fingers to her temple. Damn headache is all she would get out of this situation. She could just see it now.

"Another thing? I don't care who you are--you don't put your hands on me."

Thomus knew better than that. He knew better than to let anger take over. He knew it never solved anything. And yet, it had always been with him as he was a Death Eater and while he knew that anger only made things worse, he couldn`t control himself every single time. At her words Thomus pulled out his wand and pointed at her.

It wasn`t to threaten her. No, he just wanted to curse her. Put her in pain so that she`d just SHUT UP. His jaw was clenched as he stared at her. A tiny little voice in his brain was yelling at him to stop and so far it was the only thing keeping him from actually cursing her. He wasn`t that kind of person… he didn`t hurt women just because he was angry. And yet, he really wanted to.

Finally that little voice inside his head won. His jaw slowly loosened as he lowered his wand and his muscles relaxed. ”I`m not going to talk about this anymore. I`ve said all I wanted to and quite frankly, I couldn`t give a dragon`s crap for what you think.” He exclaimed, his voice suddenly very calm. Too calm.

That was it. He couldn`t stand that body anymore. Looking at the window again he turned into his Animagus form and flew to stand on the windowsill. It was good to feel himself again.

Thomus was full of surprises today evidently. Danielle was still as he took out his wand. She wasn't sure if he would or wouldn't, so she said nothing. It seemed like a while before he gave up the idea.

"Well isn't that mature," she muttered, rolling her eyes as he wasn't in a human form anymore.

Whatever worked then. She had pushed him a bit much, but she had thought her anger was justified. At least in her eyes it was. To hell with that yelling crap.

"Everything will go back to normal after this anyway."

Which was a fact. They weren't going to get along perfectly, but they hadn't killed each other yet. That must be a accomplishment.

Thomus moved to the window and looked through it again. It was sort of calming not to look at her. So, he lost his temper. Big deal. Not as if that had never happened. He tried not to be the man he used to be. After the whole Azkaban thing, after Ophelia, after everything he didn`t want to be a Death Eater anymore. Didn`t want to be that person anymore. But it wasn`t like it was easy to achieve.

He started to walk back and forth on the windowsill, shaking his head. Danielle was making him angry. Constantly. Irritated. Sure, sometimes he laughed along with her, but there were moments when he just wished she`d be different. Or that she wouldn`t exist at all. But he needed her. That was pretty much giving him a headache.

At her words he jumped off the windowsill and flew to one of the chairs, changing back into his human form, pinching the bridge of his nose. It took him a couple of moments to realize that the potion had wore off and he was himself again.

With a sigh Thomus dropped his hands, leaned a bit forwards and watched her. ”Sometimes I want to lay you off. Let you go. Because you tend to make me lose my temper far too often.” He exclaimed, placing his hands on his knees. ”To bad I can`t do it.”[/n] He added after s moment.

Danielle didn't get how being some animal was calming or anything, but if it worked for him then whatever. She was quiet and glancing more toward the other side of the room than at him busying himself with the windowsill. All this nonsense because of a book. It was practically laughable.

"Well I didn't sign up for this either so we're even," she retorted, not turning to glance at him just yet.

Clearly the potion had worn off for him which meant hers would in a few minutes. She hadn't needed it as much as him, but she still wanted to avoid trouble and thus used it. It was just simpler that way. Admitting defeat on at least one thing,

"Thank you by the way. For, you know, at the house," Danielle said, turning her head to look at him. "I know you didn't do it for anything other than business reasons, but still."

”You signed up for this when you decided to do business with us.” Thomus spoke absently, watching her. ”There was no need for you to do it in the first place.” He added. That was completely true after all. It wasn`t like he just found her on the street and then made her do things.

Looking at his hands, actual HIS hands, he felt calmer. Being a balding man with a beer gut was not the best feeling in the world. Brushing his fingers through his hair he glanced back at Danielle. How come that even if she was under the potion, he didn`t really notice it?

Her sudden gratitude left him at a loss of words and for a couple of moments Thom said nothing, but just watched her in silence. What was he supposed to say to that? Then he realized that whatever he said would make no difference, so he said the first thing that came to his mind. ”Anyone would have done the same thing in my situation.”

"Yeah but I didn't get much of an option," Danielle pointed out. "Regardless, I don't necessarily mind the job. Your attitude just sucks."

Seeing that she threw him off for a moment was almost a good feeling. So he hadn't expected her to thank him. Well she did have manner's sometimes.

"Naturally."

If she wanted him to be quiet then apparently she needed to overwhelm him with kindness or something. Still, he wasn't yelling or making threatening gestures. That was progress.

"I guess we better get out of here. I could care less about discharge papers or whatever. I'm all stitched up and fine."

Sore as hell, but she could handle that with some painkiller's and a blanket to wrap up in. That would definitely improve the day. That is if Thomus had no plans for her to run errands or anything.

Thomus didn`t know what to say to her, so he just let it slide. If she felt like she needed to thank him, so be it. He wasn`t going to start explaining himself or the situation Even though he kind of already had… and once again it irritated him. He had to pull himself together and not let her mess everything up.

When Danielle mentioned discharge he stood up, opened his mouth, but then suddenly said nothing. He realized one thing and that did not make him happy. Frowning lightly he nodded, then picked up his coat. ”However, you should probably go home. And don`t try to find me at the manor until I call you.” He spoke, still lost in thought.

After a moment he snapped out of it and looked directly at her. Ïf my sister and her amusing friend are planning on sticking around, I`m sure there will be a lot of family stuff to deal with. Like killing each other spouses.” He grinned.

All she needed were her cloths and she could sneak out of here easy enough. People barely paid attention. Swinging her legs over the edge of the bed, she nodded at what Thomus was saying.

"Fine by me."

Except the grin caught her off guard for a moment. Merlin only knew what was going through his mind at any given time. She made sure the hospital gown was securely tied before venturing to get her cloths. Granted they were torn up in places, but it would work till she got home.

"Hey-" Danielle started as a after though, turning on the spot to look over at him with her own grin. "Don't take too long. I get bored too easy."

Thomus watched how Danielle got out of the bed and noticed her concern with keeping the robe in place. He rolled his eyes at her. ”Merlin, you act like we`re eleven…” He commented, still watching her. ”You know, THAT could hardly amaze. I`ve seen quite a lot already.” From angry to making jokes? Thomus seemed to have mood swings. Maybe it was a family trait…

He turned to leave to the door when she called out to him. Turning to look back at her, Thomus raised his eyebrow at her words. ”Okay. I`ll make sure to create an opportunity for you to get killed as soon as I can.” He spoke calmly, but his voice full of irony.

Shaking his head, Thomus pulled his cloak over his shoulders. ”Anything else you wanna say before I make my escape?” He wondered, watching her.

"I act like I would like to keep some things private. Just because Balthazar gets the privilege doesn't mean you do," Danielle shot back in a playful sort of tone so that it didn't come out rude.

She certainly wasn't getting dressed so as long as he was in the room. She didn't care about lots of things, but that she did. Some things were necessary and privacy was one of them.

Grinning then, "Good call."

At least he was joking now instead of yelling. His mood swings though could give a person whiplash. You would think she would be used to it by now, but of course not.

"Nope. You can go if you want. I'll just see you when-ever you call."

”Be careful. Balthazar may wear it off.” Thomus commented, a small grin on his lips. He knew that she was doing all that just because he told her to, but that didn`t mean that he couldn`t make fun out of her now and then. She was making fun out of him the whole damn time anyway.

When she said that that was all, he nodded and pulled a hood over his head. Sure, he could have left the room under the potion again, but Thomus felt like he was going to be physically sick if he ever gets into someone else body. It was just far too much.

”Good luck to you, then. Try not to get killed.” He said before moving to the door and leaving.
