Rebel without a cause

![]() && Jen had needed the last couple of months to herself. Just time to collect her thoughts and get everything sorted out. Only about a month prior she had made a hard decision to allow Asher guardianship to her kids. Court itself over the idea was enough to make her feel like more of an unfit mother, but it was the best thing for the kids for the time being. Asher had himself a good house in England now, and Ver was there to help at any given time. Aiden, Bella and Ray were better off till Jen could get herself straightened out. There had been the ordeal of her attempt to put an end to herself, and then it had seemingly been a downhill spiral from there. She started to think that maybe no matter how old she got, she wasn't going to truly age up to that. In the meaning of maturity that is, or even her mentality. Maybe she would just be stuck with the morals and attitude she had when she was sixteen. Who knew? She was still working that bit out. Asher and Verona were no help since they were turned in adulthood. Not many vampire's that had been turned at a young age had even survived, let alone were allowed to survive. She wasn't the only one, she knew that, but finding anyone was the tricky part. France surprisingly had a growing number of vampire's. Mostly one's that lived for the old ways which meant night time ventures only. It also meant some were a lot more fierce than anticipated. It made Jen think about how volatile she had been when she had first been turned. Back then it was one giant party. The thrill had warn off over the years, but coming to France had put the spark back into it. Jen had made a few new friend's, and had even started getting the kinks worked out in her life. She had sought out a new job, and she had one in the works, but nothing was established yet. Here and there she had small tasks to earn anything she could get, but she was looking for something more secure. As of the last couple of weeks, she had found a way to get back into the swing of things. Back to her former self pre-kids and pre depression. Going out with a group like some sort of makeshift coven made it more fun. She could kill without a second thought now compared to hiding things because Ver deemed it only right. Besides the change in hunting styles, she had also opted to go back to her birth surname. The Reed's were who had adopted her and attempted to give her a normal functioning life, but clearly they hadn't done the world's best job. It wasn't about that though. It was about getting back to a good, safe point where she could firmly plant her feet. Taking her mother's name-Mavis-seemed best. Maybe life without Travieso was the better life. That place had given her her new life of course, but maybe they were just a starting point and she hadn't noticed that till now. She didn't have Dustin anymore to go to for answers. She had fought with the guilt of that too over the last few months as it had surfaced again. She hoped to get her kids back eventually, but for now visits were about all she had. It was all for the best. Until she figured out how things were going to go, they were better off with someone who could really take care of them. Nestled up on her bed with nothing more than her thoughts and the radio playing in the background, Jen actually found that being alone didn't always equate to loneliness. |
