Oww. That's really all she could think right at that moment. She had been moaning and groaning and unable to sleep for nearly three days now because her contractions had started three days ago. Two days ago she wasn't even a centimeter dilated- this was pure torture. Olympia had never been a foul or vulgar person, but for the past three days there wasn't a single curse word invented that she hadn't used. She was after all a New Yorker. She was a New Yorker who was apparently doing everything wrong. She had come to Mungo's too early, but they didn't want her to go back home because they wanted to monitor her closely seeing as how the fetus had been in such critical condition in the early months. That knowledge alone, the fact that there might be something wrong with her son was stressing her out, which might have been a factor for this unusually long labor. And the fact that it was being unusually long was also stressing her out and making it last even longer! What the frick?! Originally, Olympia hadn't wanted anyone with her during this thing. She had specifically told Johnny she didn't want him anywhere near Mungo's when she started to go into labor, but he of course managed to bypass her rule with a loophole- he sent his brother Gavin to stay with her instead. Olympia had met Gavin on several occasions, and besides his horrible penchant for wife beaters, he was actually a pretty good guy. Still, it took a lot of convincing for her to finally accept his company. And she was determined to make it as painful for him as she possibly could. That wasn't entirely on purpose, but she didn't see the need to suffer alone, especially if he was so willing to be with her through all of this. She moaned in pain again, gripping the hell out of his hand, while he winced. "Oh, get over it! You want to try this instead? Let's switch! You can have the baby, and I'll ~censored~ing cry like a baby over a sore hand." Olympia was just a little bit on edge. |

![]() NPC- Gavin Arlette The things he did for his family members and friends were honestly quite numerous and outrageous sometimes. Having to deal with a woman who had been going through labor for almost 72 hours was frightening. Gavin worked for dragons for Merlin's sake, and yet he found himself actively wishing to be handling them right about now because with those at least he had a fighting chance of making it out alive. In this situation, in this Mungo's maternity room, he was entirely dependent on Olympia's mercy. Something that she seemed to be lacking in right about now. Olympia had a thunder grip, he wasn't going to lie. So of course, he couldn't refrain from wincing as his hand was once again constricted to the point of a crunch being heard. He didn't even know what he was doing wrong, but she was already yelling at him. "I'm sorry, sorry. Just remember to breathe, okay? In and out, in and out." He just didn't want to get hit over the head again; this was frightening. After this experience, he didn't think he'd want kids for a long time. Knowing the type of girls he usually fell for, it would only be worse. Olympia was normally such a sweetheart now... Spawn of Satan. Or Zeus...whatever Greek mythology her name sprung from. The healer came in, thank Merlin almighty, asked her how she was doing and Gavin made sure that he didn't wince again- completely wrong time to be asking her that question when she was moaning in pain and squeezing the life out of his body through his hand. "Can we just please get on with the pushing?" |

Breathing? Breathing? He wanted her to breathe at a time like this?! She would have continued to yell at him, when another contraction kicked in and she groaned again, the pain spreading out from her lower back upwards and upwards...and upwards. She was so close to tears it was exhausting to keep them at bay, but she was going to. Millions of women did this every day, and they got through it. She would be another one of those women. Well, technically she would be even more special because she was choosing to do this naturally- no epidural. No, it wasn't because she was crazy- she was worried about Achilles. While he was supposed to be safe now, she knew that an epidural would create risks for him that she just wasn't going to bother with. She could handle it, as long as Gavin stopped being an insensitive prick. He squeezed his hand extra tightly on purpose this time. The healer came in and she had to bite down on her lip to refrain herself from yelling out 'its about ~censored~ing time' because that would have been rude, and she just wanted this baby out of her immediately. "How the ~censored~ do you think I'm feeling?" she snarled out, as she breathed in and out deeply, with a glare still firmly fixated on the woman in front of her. "I'm with him on this one, am I dilated enough now?" she asked, a hint of desperation in her voice. She just wanted all of this over with, immediately; to finally hold her baby boy in her arms. Thankfully, once the Healer snapped on her gloves and checked her, she told them she was fully dilated. About. freaking. time. The acolytes were trying to be supportive beside her, as they took her heart rate and the babies heart and blood pressure but Olympia really couldn't give a damn anymore. "Now, I want you to take a deep breath and then push, hold it for ten seconds, and then release. If there's any problems, we'll have to consider a C-section," the Healer told a very frazzled and ready to go Olympia. Olympia nodded, trying to just put out of the mind the thought of a C-section. She knew it wasn't going to be necessary, it wasn't, it really wasn't. She just had a very stubborn baby who refused to come out and was taking his own damn sweet time. He was going to be a handful, damn. "Let's go, let's go," she muttered out breathlessly, holding on to Gavin's hands tighter, while another hand went around the metal bar at her side- she was going to squeeze the life out of that too. She took a deep breath, and then pushed with a yell, as the acolyte beside her counted to ten and told her to release it. She did so, panting heavily and swallowing a lump in her throat. Oh god, this was absolute torture. She would have wiped at her eyes that were now welling up, except her hands were too busy constricting around anything she could find. Thankfully, someone wiped her brow and face with a towel, as Olympia just groaned a bit. Everything was starting to simply blur- she couldn't focus on one thing anymore except wanting to push. She waited for the Healer up front to nod and say "Again; one, two, three, push!" before taking a deep breath, and pushing once more when instructed. Maybe she thought the second push would be easier than the first, but it really wasn't. "Eight. Nine. Ten, release," she was told by an Acolyte as she breathed out. Gavin beside her was still wincing, but she couldn't yell at him right now. He was moving her hair out of the way, telling her she was doing great- maybe he wasn't that bad after all. He would have been a great uncle...the thought made her feel sick with herself, and tears flowed out of her eyes again in another type of pain right now. The third push had the baby crowning, and then she was told to stop pushing. Olympia leaned back and sobbed. "Get him out, get him out, just get him out," she mumbled out and then she groaned in pain. This crowning, it was uncomfortable. It was burning and it was stinging and then...then it was gone. Oh sweet Jesus, thank you lord. She breathed in deeply and out deeply, as her Healer told her that they were going to try to 'breathe' the baby out. She wanted to push so badly, her body was telling her to push but her Healer and the acolytes they were all telling her to pant, that they were going to wait for the natural contraction. Olympia sobbed again, as she fought against the natural urge to just push and push the baby out. She waited three minutes like that, breathing and panting to try and push the baby out, as another contraction coursed through her. That one was enough, and it did the trick; the Healer told her that the whole head was out. Olympia was panting now in relief, before she began wincing in discomfort as her Healer had to help the rotation of the baby's shoulders before another contraction came- moving her baby's body along, while her Healer gently pulled and guided the baby out. Olympia fell back limp against the hospital bed, panting while she heard a cry from Achilles. Instant tears came back as Olympia felt relieved and proud and completely exhausted at the same time. She tried to push herself upwards to see what the Acolytes and her Healer were doing, but she didn't have enough strength for that. Instead, she listened to Gavin as he recounted what they were doing, while he just looked at her amazed. She offered him up a smile and thanked him softly, for everything. Her baby was placed on her stomach and toweled up, as the acolytes said that they would clamp and cut the cord in a few minutes- a preference of the Healer who thought that automatically cutting off the umbilical cord was detrimental. Olympia didn't care; she was overwrought with emotion as she held her little boy in her hands. His hands were in little tiny fists, and he was still crying, his eyes still closed; he was pink and wrinkled and beautiful. Olympia exhaustedly and breathlessly held him to her, with all the relief in the world. All these months of hiding her state, of worrying about her son seemed so insignificant right at that moment. She was just so happy to be there, with him. After a few minutes the umbilical cord was clamped and cut by an acolyte, as they took Achilles away for routine tests and measurements- again, Olympia wasn't paying attention to any kind of details right at that moment. Everything was so surreal...she was twenty three years old, single, and now she had a baby. The afterbirth was a breeze after everything else, and she was just so happy to be finally done with it. Achilles was put back in her arms after she was helped sit up by an acolyte and Gavin. He had calmed down, and instead he was now flexing his tiny fingers, moving them to experiment. His tiny eyes fluttered open, and they blinked repeatedly, not liking the light at first. Olympia smiled, batting away her exhaustion as she examined his light blue eyes, lighter than hers. He was beautiful, and simply perfect; she began tearing up again. Gavin left to give her privacy, but he promised that he'd be back to check on her and Olympia nodded as she wiped at her eyes. Some women might have been anxious about raising a child by their own, but ever since Olympia had found out she was pregnant, she never a spent one day when she felt alone; ever. Now, it was just a lot more concrete- she had her baby now with her. "Achilles John Dunbarton," she tried it out, smiling as her son continued to wiggle around. "Welcome to the world, my beautiful baby boy," she greeted as she softly kissed his head. She sighed in relief- the stress that she had been carrying for the past nine months just ebbing away. "You'll be the best dressed baby in history," she told him warmly, chuckling a bit, as she held back a sob. "I already love you. More than anything, more than anyone," she admitted before she continued in a smaller and quieter voice, "I just hope I'm enough." She wiped at her eyes once more, but she didn't regret the decision to not include Jonathan in Achilles' life. Just the mere fact that Jonathan was a Death Eater threatened to drive Olympia nuts with too many what ifs. When filling out the birthday certificate she left the father information blank. |
