Aileen`s flat; a small flat in the capital

At days like that Leo cursed his choice to leave the wizarding world and live as a Muggle. He was aching to get back to Diagon Alley, to see all the familiar shops, to know what he was buying and to see normal clothing everywhere. His life had changed drastically these days – he barely left the flat anymore, because he had to take care of his daughter and help Aileen, everything around was weird for Muggles had a weird way of living and he felt… lost while no one around him wore wizard clothes. Everything was wrong and he simply had no idea why he was still there.

On the other hand, it took him to glance down once and he knew the answer – it was because of the girl in his hands. Leo changed. He knew whose influence that was, but he refused to mention that name, even think about the name, in order to move on. Leave everything behind and move on. Maybe he wouldn`t have abandoned wizarding life and maybe he would have tried to explain to Aileen who he really was, but… in order to forget her he decided to forget everything. Not that it was really effective.

Although he didn`t change completely – while he told Aileen that he was going to work he usually spent his time in some bar, stopping by a shop or a bank and ‘making’ some money in a matter of seconds. He may have given up the whole lifestyle, but there was no way he`d give up his wand and things he could do with it. One more reason why he spent most of his time in the flat was Aileen – she was sick again. Magic probably could cure her in a matter of seconds, no matter what was the illness, but he was a lousy Healer. They relied on Muggle methods which, to Leo, seemed completely barbaric.

He was feeding his daughter from a bottle, his head titled to one side as he watched her. Leo loved her. She was the only person on earth that completely trusted him unconditionally and maybe that was what he really wanted. ”It`s easy for you right now.” He spoke slowly. ”And maybe you`ll turn out to be a simple Muggle and not a witch. Believe me that would be much easier for you. You will never know who your father was and so you`ll never get a chance to hate him. That`s a good thing for me.” He smiled softly.

It was hard thinking that one day his daughter would grow up, go to Hogwarts and hear about Death Eaters. And probably find out that her father used to be associated with them. Or maybe they will be still looking for him and the day she`d get on the Hogwarts express he`d run away, in order not to be caught. There were so many possibilities and for that he prayed that she`d be a simple Muggle. Their lives were easier. They knew less. Standing up he walked to her room and placed her in a crib to sleep. No matter what… he was tired of this life.

Lena stood on the opposite side of the street with Mist as she stared up at the building in front of them. Her wand was pointed directly toward it, like a compass pointing towards north. It helped them tracked Leo down, and here they were, in Scotland. After her conversation with Mist a few weeks ago, she decided to finally go confront Leo. It wasn't easy for her to come to that decision, even now as she stood here she felt like running back to London. Her stomach was in knots as her heart pounded heavily against her chest. It didn't help that her baby was kicking along with her heart beat.

"Hush baby, it's okay." She whispered, her hand rubbing her abdomen. 25 weeks today. Lena had the glamour spell on, so it wasn't obvious. She usually had it on whenever she went out though, so it wasn't something new.

Leo Keller was just beyond those walls, a few steps, and he was there. He was so close, yet she couldn't find the strength to pry her feet off the sidewalk. But what if he wasn't home? What if his girlfriend was there too? Lena havent been able to come up with an excuse if she ran into his girlfriend. She could simply say that she was an old friend who was just in the neighbourhood and decided to visit. No, that sounded weird to her. But either way, she knew she'll come up with a valid excuse when the time comes.

Lena then headed toward the building, looking back at Mist ever so often as if asking for help. But Mist didn't do anything but stood in the bushes, giving her a reassuring smile. Well a smile did go a long way.

Once she was there, she glanced at the resident's name list as she couldn't find Leo's. It was probably not registered under his name. Well good thing she had her wand. She climbed the stairs as the wand kept pointing up, passed the second floor, third floor...

When she found herself in front of his door, she froze. Usually in cases like this, one would knock, but she was so hesitant to. Lena didn't know what awaited her on the other side. What if it was a scene of him and his family? She felt her heart sank as she took a step back. Lena wanted to run back down, back to Mist where it was safe, where she had more than just a door separating her from her past lover, from him.

And then the baby started kicking again, as if he was urging her to go closer. She obeyed him as she took a step forward and knocked. One second, two seconds.... thirty seconds. No response.

He wasn't home? Or maybe he just didn't hear it. Either way she was slowly etching away from the door.

Leo was standing and looking down at the crib. He loved his daughter endlessly. Tara (he didn`t like the name, but Aileen persisted to give her daughter a Scottish name so he gave in) was a wonderful and beautiful girl – she had blond hair and big blue eyes and she laughed more than she ever cried. She was interested in every single detail, especially in her daddy`s beard and liked to try to pull it off. There was no way Leo could not love that tiny little angel.

Aileen was in the hospital again. From time to time he really wanted to ask some Healer to check up on her, because he was sure that she could be healed in a second, but he didn`t do it. As he tried to convince himself, it was because he didn`t want to interfere with her normal Muggle life. But the brutal reality was that he didn`t care so much. Aileen was… okay. She was good looking, nice, she loved him and so on. But he couldn`t force himself to love her. By that point he thought that liking her was enough to have a family.

The knock on the door woke him up from the weird trance he was in while looking down at his daughter. He had no idea who could it be, but he hoped that it wasn`t Aileen`s mother. The woman was crazy. She kept making hints about him having to propose to Aileen. Sheesh, she was acting like a total idiot. Who said that you have to marry a woman that you are living with and have a child with? Okay okay, Leo got the point. He should marry her and he knew that but he did not. Want. To.

Shaking his head he moved to the door. Leo wasn`t ready for another hour of pure torture. However, when he opened the door there was someone else who could put him through far worse torture than Aileen`s mother – it was Elena. And he just… froze. Not a muscle in his moved, his heart stopped beating and he just stood there staring down at her. It hurt worse than hell. The only reason he was able to live and move on was because he managed to pretend like she never existed. But having to look at her while she was right in front of him left no chance for pretending.

He didn`t say anything. He just continued to stare at her for couple more moments. Elena. On the doorstep of Aileen`s flat in Scotland. Elena. Suddenly flashbacks of what happened during their last meeting ran through his head. Elena. There.

Ouch.

She was hoping that he wasn't home, so therefore Lena didn't have to confront him. As she took two steps backward, she saw the door opened. Dammit, he was home. When she saw him, she could hardly breath as she returned his stare. He looked exactly the way she remembered, but so much more vivid. The picture of him in her mind could never compared to him right now.

She felt her heart pounding heavily against her chest, as if screaming to escape. After all this time, he still had that affect on her. She must be crazy for allowing herself to be so attached to him but she couldn't help it, it was just something about him. For the past few months, all she had left were his memories, yet here he was in front of her.

He was real.

She wanted to reach out and touch him, but she couldn't bring herself to. She was afraid that if she does, he'll vanish like a dream. And if this was a dream, well so far she didn't want to wake up. Lena couldn't remember the whole purpose she came here for. It wasn't until the baby started kicking again that she realized. Oh.

The baby kicking was enough to make her realized that no, this wasn't a dream. So she couldn't control the outcome of it.

It took her three tries until she managed to say talk or even say a word . "Hey." She muttered. Where to go from here? She never figured out how she was going to tell him that she was pregnant. Sure, Lena could just bluntly declare it, but that's easier said then done.

"I'm sorry for just randomly showing up here..." She began, not really sure where she was going with this, so she simply left it at that.

Standing and staring at Elena. That was all that Leo could do. Completely pathetic, he knew, but he couldn`t make his muscles move. Maybe he was supposed to say something, but his mind was completely blank. Elena. Thinking about her name brought pain so how he was supposed to cope with the fact that she was there, by his doorstep, in person? His mind worked in a defense mechanism – he simply refused to acknowledge what was going on.

That was why it felt like it wasn`t real. Like it was a dream or a hallucination of some sort. Her silent ‘hey’ reached his ears after what seemed like million years. It was so silent and so distant that he hardly reacted to it. ”Hey.” It didn`t sound like his voice. At least not to him. By that point he was somewhere out there, waiting to get back in his body. It couldn’t be real. Maybe he fell asleep and now was sleepwalking, talking with thin air. That he could explain better than the fact that she was really there.

She said something else and he kept staring at her. Yes, he saw her lips move, he heard the sound, but the words simply didn`t make sense. In order to wake up or get out of that weird state he shook his head. Which didn`t help. Not a single bit.

”I`m… sorry.” He mumbled, blinking few times and stepping out of the doorway, opening the door widely. ”Come in.” Still in the dream state he realized that if she was there it wasn`t because she wanted to have a chit chat. Something had happened. Most likely something horrible. Randomly walking to the living room he led her there not even turning back to check if she was following.

”Um… I`ll… make some tea… or something.” Yes. Leo was officially being the biggest idiot in the whole world. Turning around he quickly rushed to the kitchen, took the kettle and poured water in it. Then placed it on the fire. His eyes were running all around the room while his mind still felt blank. Only when his eyes fell on the clock on the wall he snapped out of it. He realized what the hell was going on. Even more? He realized that Aileen should be heading back home soon now.

Turning around once again he went back to the living room, suddenly realizing he left the flat door open. Idiot. Closing the door he reached the room where Elena was and looked at her. This wasn`t a dream or a hallucination, now he knew. Everything was real because… it hurt too much not to be real. Seeing her was going to drive him insane. ”I`m sorry, but you showing up completely threw me off.” he confessed, pulling his look away from her. It was too hurt. Running a hand through his hair he frown. ”I`m sorry again, but… can you please tell me what the heck are you doing here?” Now that Leo wanted to know.

She caught him by surprised by coming here. Leo would have never expected her to show up here out of all places, that Lena knew for sure. When he spoke though, it snapped her out of her thoughts as she felt her heart racing at the sound of his voice. Hey, it was simple but it still made her weak.

When he lead her inside, she hesitated before following him. This was his and Aileen's flat, Lena was probably not welcomed here if Aileen came home. Lena assumed she wasn't because otherwise Leo would have told her to leave already. Lena heard him mumbling something about tea as she stood in the middle of the room, watching him. Her eyes were glued on his every move, his every expression. She wanted to go over to him, wrapped her arms around him and feel his kiss on her lips again. But she couldn't. The thought of never being able to experience any of that again made her drift her eyes away from him and toward the interior of the flat instead.

When Leo spoke to her again, Lena returned her gaze at him. She noticed that he wasn't looking at her, but she didn't blame him. "Im sorry, I should have send you a letter first or something." As to his question, she froze. Lena knew that the whole reason for her to come here was to tell him that she's..pregnant. She even practiced saying that same line repeatedly, but now that she' s here, she couldn't say it. The words were stuck in her throat, she could feel them..

"Leo, I'm..." Well that's two out of three.

"Im sorry," They were both apologizing alot today, " I dont know what to do and it's all complicated and...Merlin, I dont know. I never expected it to happen."

She was rambling.

This all thing was just a huge huge… mess. Leo found himself standing in the middle of his girlfriend`s flat in Scotland with his daughter sleeping in the nearby room and looking at a woman he loved so strong he kept losing his mind every single time he saw her. How the hell did it happen?! At what point his life changed so drastically that he couldn`t remember how it felt before it all began? Eventually he decided to blame it on the werewolf bite. If not that he`d still be an idiotic Death Eater not really caring about anything else but himself.

Elena woke up the human inside him and at some times, when he`d lay awake at night he was angry at her for that. Feelings hurt much more than any physical pain he could imagine.

He wished he could have waited patiently for Elena to say why she was there, but it was impossible. His eyes kept running around the room, his hand ran through his hair for probably hundredth time in a couple of minutes and he kept glancing at the clock wondering how this all will turn out. But his true intention was to ignore the woman in the room. It just… it just plain hurt, that`s all.

When she began speaking eventually he forced himself to look at her. Yeah, a letter would have been nice. However no words left his lips because he felt like he had lost his voice. So, he simply nodded. A letter or ‘something’. But maybe that wouldn`t have been such a good thing. He wouldn`t have agreed to see her. Or if he would have, he would have been nervous for really long, unable to concentrate on anything. So… Leo kept waiting. Waiting until she`d say why the hell was she there.

Too bad that she didn`t finish the sentence. Too bad that she allowed him to think whatever he wanted to think as she began apologizing. Suddenly he shook his head. ”No, Lena, I… look, I think I know why you`re here, okay? But it just… it can`t happen. It`s over.” He spoke, trying to get it all out before she had a chance to stop him and prove him wrong. He couldn`t allow that.

”I know, I never expected it to happen either, but it did and yet it`s all over now. We can`t be together anymore, all we do is fight and now I have a child to take care of and… Dear Merlin, I just can`t force myself to be together with you again. I know it`s hard to do this, but we can`t… and you can`t show up at my doorstep like that because we both need to move on and we won`t be able to if we will see each other…” Leo felt like he was doing a good thing. His feelings for Lena didn`t matter, he had other responsibilities now. He just had to swallow his feelings.

Lena couldn't finished her sentence before he took over. She didn't interupt him because she loved hearing his voice, so she waited to hear what he had to say. What he said though, pierced her heart as she found herself taking a step back. She knew it was over, she knew that but she always had that thought somewhere deep inside, hoping that maybe they might give it another try one day. But what he said, it was cleared that he didn't want her, any part of her.

She opened her mouth, wanting to argue but she didn't know what to say. Staring at him, she just shook her head. "It's not that." She muttered.

Lena then felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. She didn't know what it was, but it wasn't her baby kicking, this felt different. She was exposing herself to too much stress, it wasn't good for the baby.

Breath. Breath, she reminded herself.

"Leo," His name rolled off her tongue so perfectly. "I'm...pregnant." And then she prepared herself for his reaction. She didn't know what to expect. The only one thing that he could do that will crushed her completely and reject her and their child. She already could see it, him telling her it was probably some other guy's child, not his.

Even the thought of that hurts.

Leo had no idea what more to say. He thought that he had already said everything and yet he couldn`t remember a word he said. Rambles like that appeared out of no where and he felt… kind of ashamed. After all, he didn`t believe half the things he said. He couldn`t force himself to be with her again? Oh please. He was ready to stand every little fight, every nonsense just to be with her. And now he was telling her that he couldn`t be with her. Pathetic. Also… she couldn`t show up at his doorstep? If it were for him she wouldn`t have to, cause she`d be living with him. Ugh, he hated himself.

And yet he believed that he did the right thing. The two of them had to break up. It was too difficult to stay together.

That`s when she told him that it wasn`t why she was there. Leo could see the pain in her expression. The pain that he caused. And the last thing he wanted was to hurt her, Merlin, he never wanted to see her sad. However it happened and he couldn`t even open his mouth to apologize to her. The world`s biggest jerk. Literally. He kept cursing himself. But that situation did one good thing – he stopped thinking about how hard it was too see her after all that time.

Of course, as he had already noticed, even the one good thing can disappear rather quickly. Wait, what did she just say? Leo blinked once, then twice, then glanced at the fly that was trying to get out through the window. Then blinked the third time. His eyes landed back on her. Wait, did she just say…? Nah, it couldn`t be. Could it? The weird thing was that he didn`t move a bit. The only thing not completely still was his eyes. Even if when the realization finally hit him, his eyes froze up too.

All he did was stand there and stare at her. The words made sense, he understood them perfectly, but yet his mind was completely blank. Yes, he understood. Elena was pregnant. And since she was saying that to him, it was probably his child. So. Elena was equal to being pregnant. With his child. And still his mind was left blank as a piece of clean paper.

The silence which was going on for far too long was suddenly interrupted by weird whistling noise. It kept going louder and louder. AS if he was made from wood, Leo turned his head to the direction of the kitchen and then just as slowly looked back at the Pregnant Elena. ”The tea is ready.” Yeah. That was… all he said after the love of his life told him that she was pregnant.

]Lena said it, she told him the sole purpose she came here to begin with and yet here he was, just staring at her. She expected that, the news was indeed shocking especially since they haven't seen each other for six months. "I should have told you the second I found out...but..with everything.." That and the fact that she wasn't ready to face him yet. She still wasn't ready, even just seeing him and knowing that they're not together, hurts. And then she trailed off as he mentioned tea.

Tea?

Here she was, telling the man she loved, that she's pregnant with his child and all he could say is that the tea is ready? Sure he might be in shock but Merlin.

"Tea? I just told you I'm pregnant with your child and all you can say is that the tea is ready?!" She was getting too upset. She clenched her fist as she ran the other hand through her hair.

"Leo, talk to me." She said finally. If only she knew legimency, this would be so much easier.

The longer he remained silent and refused to acknowledge what she just said, the more she started to assume that he wanted nothing to do with her nor their child. Her eyes then drifted away from him, but she felt his gaze on her, causing her to flush lightly. Even in a moment like this, he still managed to make her all...ugh. Only him, no one else ever had this effect on her.

Leo couldn`t do it. He couldn`t snap out of it. There was this tiny annoying voice in his head that kept yelling at him, telling him to move, say something, anything. But his body refused to listen to that voice which seemed to be the only thing in his mind making sense. He simply couldn`t force himself to do so, because that would mean accepting the news, what he just heard and it wouldn`t be possible for him. His life had been shitty already and something told him that if he acknowledged what Lena just said it would get even more complicated.

Tea. Yes, tea was ready. Leo wanted to get out, leave the room, go to the kitchen and then stare at the kettle for few hours. It wasn`t that he wanted to leave Lena like that, the news still hadn`t kicked in, but he simply needed some space. Space to be able to stare at something while your mind is completely blank. Pregnant. Elena.

He would have probably left, because he was already looking at the direction of the kitchen, the whistling getting so loud it was basically tearing his brain apart (even while in that mess, he made a mental note to buy Aileen a new kind of a kettle, the electronic one like he saw in some shop) but he was stopped by Elena, who began speaking. At first her words made no sense. She wanted tea…? Because it was ready, right? By that point his face was so dumbfounded he looked like a complete idiot.

However, saying his name like that did the trick. Leo swallowed the lump in his throat. It suddenly hit him – Elena was pregnant with his child. His mind stopped being so blank in an instant and he realized the fact clearly. And that hit him pretty hard. He had no idea what he was feeling but what he did know was that he needed to sit down. Taking a step back and staring right in front of himself he just sat down on the couch and kept staring. ”…I…” He murmured, his voice hoarse, but couldn`t finish it. Shaking his head he placed his face in his hands.

Deep breath in, deep breath out.

It wasn`t helping because he still felt like suffocating. And Leo still had no idea how he felt about all of it. Dropping his hands he didn`t dare to look up at her and instead just rested his eyes on the ground. ”I… I don`t know what to say…” It was true. He had NO freaking idea what to say.

The way he looked at her, so dumbfounded, it caused her to worry. It was as though he couldn't comprehend what she was trying to tell him. Apparantly, when she said his name though, that did the trick. Her eyes followed him as he looked around helplessly, not knowing what to do. Closing her eyes, she sighed. The kettle was whistling louder with every passing second until Lena finally went into the kitchen and turned off the stove.

When Lena came back she stood at the doorway, "You don't have to say anything." She said in return, "I guess I'll just go. I just came to tell you that..." She whispered. Lena walked over to the couch as she picked up her purse which she had tossed down earlier. Looking down at him, she reached out to take his hand but quickly stopped. Her hand stood a few inches away from his before she let it dropped down to her side.

Sighing, she headed to the door.

She expected this, kind of. She wasn't sure if this was worse then him rejecting her and their child. With this, there was a possiblity right? Lena felt herself tearing up as she bit her lips, trying to refrain the tears. Just make it outside first, away from him, then you can cry, she told herself. The distance from her to the door seemed so far away though and Merlin.. there was a part of her that didn't want to let him out of her sight. There was a part of her that just wanted to stay.

Leo had no idea what to do. All kinds of possibilities ran through his head while he was sitting there. They could try to work it all out, like seeing Elena every week or something. But it seemed ridiculous, because Aileen would never go for it. He could also just tell Lena he wasn`t going to be involved in his child`s life. But he couldn`t do it, because it would be simply impossible. He could try and make Lena and Aileen live together. Ha. Right. He could leave Aileen and be with Lena, but it was too risky. Knowing her she`d probably find a way not to allow him to see Tara and he was already too attached to the little girl.

So, basically? He was screwed.

He didn`t even notice when the whistling stopped and that Elena had left for the kitchen for he was way too deep in thought. Only when she began speaking he picked up his head and looked at her. Leo kind of liked the idea of not having to say anything. He had no idea what to say because he couldn`t decide what to do. This was too much and it was too complicated and it just… there was absolutely no way out.

What she said after, though? It took longer to process. He watched how she picked up her purse and yet her words didn`t make sense. Until he realized that she wasn`t in the room anymore. Now in this situation? He knew what to do. Suddenly jumping up he reached up to her, placed his hand on her shoulder and turned her around. After seeing her from so close he almost broke. He almost leaned down and kissed her, placed his hands around her and didn`t let go. But just almost. Instead he just looked at her, his eyes somehow glassy.

”Don`t.” He whispered, shaking his head a bit. He had forgotten how it felt being near her. How weak and defenseless he felt while touching her. ”Don`t leave. Not like this.” he added after a moment, closing his eyes. Leo needed time.

A few more steps and then she would have reached the door, the safety zone. But before she could, she felt his hand on her shoulder. She shivered at his touch. Even though her skin wasn't exposed there, she could still feel his warmth through the material. Turning around, she stared up at him. She felt a single tear leaked from her eyes as she shook her head.

"What do you want me to do instead, Leo?" Lena said quietly.

Lena looked at him, trying to study his expression, the look in his eyes. He was so close to her and yet she couldn't reach out and touch him.

"What am I supposed to do? You obviously can't leave her and your daughter." That was obvious. She knew Leo, she knew that he wouldn't leave his daughter. He loved her. They have gotten themselves into quite a mess. It never used to be like this, Merlin, it used to be so simple between them.

After a few minutes of just silence between them, she shifted her weight from one foot to the next as she glanced at the floor. "It's a boy." This time her face etched into a slight smile. The thought of her baby, her baby boy, it just made her smile regardless.

Looking at Elena like that was almost impossibly hard. All what Leo could think about was the need to kiss her and hold her close. The annoying voice in his head was back, but this time it was much needier. The voice needed and wanted her as well, and now it kept pushing him to make a move, not to listen to his reasons to stay back, but instead just do what he wanted to. It was a common problem of humanity – no one ever did what they really wanted to do. It was crazy and the fact that Leo managed to fight back the urge was actually even crazier.

”I don`t… I don`t know.” He answered her in just as a silent manner as she did. ”All I know is that you can`t leave.” She was pregnant with his child. He wouldn`t let her leave no matter what. Not until they talked about it properly.

As she looked at him, he watched her. It hurt. He had forgotten how beautiful she was. He had forgotten how perfect was the shape of her eyes and how soft her lips were. He had even forgotten how much he loved listening to her voice. But now, standing so close, it all came back to him. It still was amusing how he managed to fight back all those urges to hold her close. Just… amazing.

What she said next… hurt. Because it was true and because it was obvious that she knew that just as well as he did. ”I know…” He whispered. There was no way Leo could leave his daughter. She meant a lot to him. But there was no way he could let Lena go. There was no way that he could stay away from this child that would be born soon. It was a dead end. Not fair.

And then Elena said the most amazing thing ever. Suddenly his eyes went wide and he just gave in. He couldn`t help it anymore. He placed his hands around her, pulling her close and kissed her forehead. He broke down and gave up fighting. It was impossible anyway.

Aileen was walking down the street, her hands wrapped around herself. There was a reason why she didn`t like hospitals. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath. Then concentrated on getting back home. She wanted to see Leo. Needed to see him. Him and Tara. The two of them were her whole world. He was an amazing man, even if he never loved her the way she did. But he was always soft with her, always there for her and he loved their daughter endlessly. There was nothing more Aileen could have asked for.

Getting into the building she, as usually, thanked God for not living on the sixth floor. It would be too hard for her to climb up all those stairs. Still all she could think of was about getting into her flat, walking to Leo and hugging him. It was one thing she really needed.

She did get into the flat. However, it was not her that Leo was hugging. Gasping slightly she took a step back. ”Leo?” She murmured, shaking her head. He had told her he had no friends not family in the area. He told her he didn`t keep close relationship with his business partners. Therefore this? This made no sense and she was simply shocked. ”What… what the hell?” She murmured, shaking her head.

He told her that he didn't want her to leave. That made her heart fluttered as she closed her eyes. Leo was so close, Merlin, the temptation to hold him was so strong. So when he gave in and finally pulled her into a hug, Lena caved in in return. Her arms slipped around his waist as she pressed herself closed against him, feeling his warmth, his heartbeat through his clothing. She had forgotten how good, how safe it feels to be in his grasp.

This felt so right.

Lena was lost in her own trance until she heard someone spoke. It was a female voice and she instantly knew who it was...Aileen. Crap. Lena didn't want to let go but she did reluctantly as she took a step back from Leo and stared at the woman he left her for. Aileen was pretty, Lena will admit that much.

At her question, Lena sighed. She wanted so much to be with Leo, but she knew how much Leo loved his daughter. And Aileen held the power between him seeing or not seeing his daugther.

So she said the first thing that came to mind, faking a genuine smile. "Hi, you must be Aileen." She stated, "I'm Leo's sister." Sister? Well that was the first thing that came to mind. "I was just in town before I head back to ....erm, Russia. Thought I'd stop by..."

Leo had sincerely forgotten about it. Of course, it was understandable. How could he remember that Aileen could come back any minute now after he was just told that he was going to be a father? Especially when the mother was going to be a woman he loved sincerely since… whoa, a pretty long time. So yes, he simply forgot. Besides, it felt too good holding Lena close. It was everything he had dreamt about for the last couple of months – just feeling her scent again.

Of course, after hearing Aileen`s voice the most obvious thing to do was to jump away from her and try not to look guilty. He glanced at Elena, then back at Aileen, then again at Elena. Who began speaking. Who probably should have just kept her mouth shut. Leo rolled his eyes and shook his head. ”Lena, don`t.” He commented softly. ”Besides… I don`t have a sister. Aileen knows that.” It was amusing how calm he managed to stay. Maybe because he didn’t` feel like he had done something wrong. Or maybe because he just didn`t have anymore strength to be nervous or shocked or… anything like that.

Taking a deep breath he turned to face Aileen who was still standing in the doorway. ”This… it`s Elena.” By the way he said it; it was obvious that she knew who the girl was. So, he tried to move on and talk faster. ”She came by because she had some… news.” that was the moment when he realized that he couldn`t be as calm as he was – in fact, he cheated on Aileen. Otherwise Elena wouldn`t be pregnant, now would she. He swallowed the huge lump that appeared in his throat out of no where.

”She`s… she`s pregnant.” Now he was worried and he nervously glanced at Lena. Maybe he should have gone with the whole ‘long lost sister from Russia’ thing.

Aileen still had hard time processing all what she just saw, when the girl began speaking. Leo`s sister? Oh please. He had told her all about his family. The only child, parents dead. Even showed a picture. That was why she never met his parents. He also said that he and his cousins weren`t close. So, a sister? Oh right. Please. A sister from Russia? Even better.

She was about to protest when Leo stepped up. And she was glad that he did. Until he said the name of the girl. Of course Aileen knew about her. She was the reason why he fled to Scotland. Aileen knew that Leo and this Elena girl broke up because they couldn`t stand the differences anymore. She also knew that he loved her. It was pretty much enough for Aileen to instantly dislike the girl. However, she didn`t express that. In fact, her face looked blank and somehow tired.

The last blow was the fact that this girl was pregnant. And the fact that Elena tried to hide her identity made it pretty clear for who the father was. The strange thing? Aileen thought she`d be angry. And she waited for the anger to come. She stood there, watching Leo, no expression on her face and not saying anything. But the truth was that she felt relieved.

”That`s good…” She whispered, before biting down on her lip and shaking her head slowly.

Oh great, here he goes and ruined her story. She thought it was a pretty convincing one, well actually no it wasn't. But Lena didn't want to start anything. She stood there silently, watching Leo spoke then Aileen. She saw Leo's nervousness as he told Aileen the truth, but the way she reacted, so calm? It caught Lena by surprise.

Merlin, if Lena was in Aileen's position, she would have ripped her head off at the moment. Well maybe that was just her. Sighing she ran a hand through her hair as she shook her head as well.

"Im sorry, I dont want to cause any trouble between you two or anything. I think it's best if I just go." She said, looking back at Leo then at the door. Maybe she shouldn't have came here to begin with. She should have just asked Leo to meet her somewhere else, away from everything. But then he would have probably not come, then what?

Lena was questioning herself, wondering why she wasn't going to stay and fight for him. For the one person she loved more than anything...

Because he walked out first? And as much as that display of affection they had earlier meant to her, it still didn't convince her that ...there was a chance. Maybe it was just pity he felt for her. And that thought hurts. She should just leave now.
