Will paled as Lara came back. Everything just started to happen so fast. It only took a few more hours before Lara was fully dilated and he went from calm and collected to pale and speechless. As she pushed, he let her squeeze his hand and he merely watched with his mouth half gaped open. He ad a bad feeling about this, but what was he going to do? They just needed to go for it and hope for a miracle.

5 Reasons I should accept Lara and the baby:
1) I am madly in love with her still
2) It is my baby after all
3) I am willing to pay child support, so why not go one step further and be a dad to the baby?
4) I am hurting Lara more than helping her
5) Did I mention I am madly in love with her and she is always on my mind?

She had to keep doing this until there baby was safely delivered. It was incentive enough to keep pushing but that didn't mean Lara was any less worried she wouldn't be able to do this - that she wouldn't have to strength. Will was pale. He wasn't saying anything and that in itself was unnerving to Lara. He had to know something she didnt... or didnt want to believe or think about.

"Another one's coming..." Lara ground out, shifting into a more comfortable position on the bed, fingers of one hand curling tighter around Will's, the fingers of the other, digging into the matress of the hospital bed. She bore down, crying out her determination as she did so, eye screwed up tight. One, two, three....seven eight, nine... "Argh...!" She stopped catching her breath, lifting a hand to brush her fringe out of her eyes. "It's hot...How much longer?"

Declan knew that it was really hard, and he couldn't imagine that this was what Kel had to go through in just four or so short months. Lara stopped counting after about six seconds, and Declan assured her, "It's ok. You can do this, Lara. Take a breath, and with the next one I need you to push," he said.

"I can already see the baby's head. He's crowning. We just need a few really good pushes. Try again with the next contraction."

She could do this. Declan said she could do this and he was the Healer, so he had to know what he was talking about, right? But she was so tired and wasnt getting the head out meant to be the worse bit? Following his instructions, Lara took a moment or two to breath and build up the strength for the final pushes. She had to do this, or else how would they get to meet their son?

Push. She needed to push. "They're crowning?" Lara asked between breaths. "Any hair?" A trivial question at that moment but she still asked. "Will. He's crowning. He can see him." Despite herself, Lara flashed Will a small and exhausted smile. A few more pushes and they'd have their son. She was feeling drained, emotionally and physically from lack of sleep that day and from the contractions and pushing. Her cheeks were wet with tears, forehead damp with prespiration from exertion, hair matted.

On the next contraction, Lara really was determined. Sitting up further, really gripping Will's hand and the matress hard in her grasp as she felt the next contraction build up and pushed, her voice raising up in the room.

With the next couple of pushed the baby's head was out. "Good job," he said.

"The baby's head is out, so it'll just be a few more pushes. Once the shoulders are out, it should be easy from there." The shoulders were the widest part of the body, so after that, one more push and the baby would be out. And then the work would begin on making sure he survived.

Will watched as Lara so valiantly kept pushing. After that first short push, Lara just kept going. Of course, Will couldn't feel his fingers on his hand anymore, but that was the LEAST he could do, he had gotten her into this after all. When Declan pointed out that the baby's head was out, Will chanced a look and went from pale to green. He didn't need to see that, his son looked like a raisin, but he didn't look healthy, he looked as he should, as a little boy who was going to have the fight for his life.

Finally looking away, Will crouched to the floor and put his head between his knees, he was going to be sick if he didn't, this was far more disgusting than when it was a patient.

"There's a head," Lara panted, a small pained smile on her face. "Our son has a head!" She paused a moment catching her breath as Will chanced a first glance at their little boy but at the sight of green tinge of his cheeks and the way he sank to floor head between the knees, Lara started to panick. "Will! What's wrong? Is he alright?" She tried tugging on Will's hand but had to let go.

"Will, I won't... uugh! I can't do this... without you." She was very quickly getting testy. The end was in sight, as was their son and her Acolyte boyfriend was about to spew his guts out at the sight of him. "Will!! Thats our son!" Lara winced as the next contraction started to build. "This is me doing a Hell of a lot of work pushing our son out!!! Going through a hell of a lot of pain!!! You're not allowed to be sick!!"

She had to. Lara had to push - she couldn't not - and it hurt and she didnt have Will's hand to grip onto. Gripping onto the side bars of the hospital bed, Lara sat up, hunching over and bore down, letting out a loud determined cry that sounded along the lines of " Don't make me hate you!". She could feel their baby starting to move. The head was out but the shoulders were more difficult. Tears were already streaming and she could feel her head spinning. "Will, just help me here..." Lara had lost count.. Five? Or eight was it?

Remaining crouched beside the bed, Will resorted to hyperventilating slightly. He had no idea why Lara in this position made him panic when no other mother in labour did this to him. "He's fine. I'm not." He murmured, plucking Lara's hand off the rail and taking it in his. He knew he was going to be fine, he just had to give it a moment, if he surfaced too quickly, he might pass out for real this time.

Their baby was fine - that's what Will said - yet still seeing Will panicking like that wasn't helping Lara remain any calmer. She felt Will's fingers curled around hers again and gave his hand a hefty yank as she pushed hard. "Not... helping..." Her eyes were screwed up. There wasn't far to go now, right? "You're scaring me." That was it. Ten... Ten! She couldn't push anymore. She needed to breathe. Lara didn't know if that last push had made much difference or not. "You're an Acolyte! Gross stuff is normal! Just don't look."

Will shoudl think himself lucky she couldnt reach her wand. Soon she'd be resorting in gripping his hand with her nails digging in. Lara glanced past her knees to Declan. She didnt know how much longer she could do this. "How much more?"

Slowly standing up, Will never stood fully straight. "Seeing you in labour is dfferent than seeing blood and gore. Hell, watching and helping women through labour doesn't bother me." He murmured weakly. "All you have to do is give a could good pushes to get his shoulders out and Declan can just ease him out with no effort." This was something that Will never thought he'd be doing at such a young age... he was going to be 22 in only a matter of months and he was already a father. But the more he thought about it, the more nauseous he got.

Lara was relieved to see Will stand up, falling silent except the short puffs of breaths. Her expression softened as best it could underneath her one of pain as he explained why he was reacting like that to the labour. "Will... this is me bringing our baby into the world. Our son." Lara was terrified about the next few pushes. The shoulders were meant to hurt the most apparently. "Everyone says this is the most wonderful miracle... painful... disgusting but wonderful. We have to think of the end result, right? When we've got our baby in our arms." Although saying that, she was having difficulty thinking past the task at hand.

Just a few more pushes, that was all she needed to muster up the strength for. Lara gripped Will's hand, moving to get comfortable and ready to push as the next contraction loomed. "Will, just don't let go, okay?" And she pushed.

After the news had come out to them in the waiting room that Lara was going to start delivering, Victoria began to worry, like the concerned parent she of course was. That was her little girl in there, not even twenty, having a baby.

She, Liam and Izzy had taken it in turns to pop in before then to visit her, noting her rosy, flushed complection, how tired she looked and also the discomfort she had felt with every contraction. Now that she was in labor, Victoria could only imagine how scared she must be feeling. Ever since Lara was little she hated hospitals, the sight of blood and all these strange disappearances on boats, mazes, old manor houses and the carnage that went on there hadn't helped those fears.

Liam was pacing. Izzy was sat in one of the ucomforable plastic waiting room chairs, clenching and unclenching her hands in her lap nervously and Viki was stood by the door to Lara's room anxiously. Every contraction Lara had, could be heard from the small waiting room outside and Viki just wanted to be in there with her. When she heard the news the head had been delivered, enough was enough. She was going to be witness to her grandson's birth and she doubted her daughter would kick her out the delivery room.

Pushing open the door, Viki entered the room glancing a moment at the beautiful head of her grandson. "He's beautiful... Oh uh, I'm the Grandmother," she added hastily, to Healer Clemens before joining Lara and Will at the head of the bed and taking her other hand. "How're you doing, Sweetheart. You're almost done okay? One great big push and then it's all done. I've done it. Leslie's done it. My mother did it. You can do it." She gave Lara's hand a firm squeeze, brushing her fringe from her sweating forehead. "Squeeze our hands as hard as you like. Will's especially," Viki shot Will a small smile. "Push with the next contraction. We'll count, alright? We're all so proud of you. You can do this."

Will brushed Lara's hair from her face, all while trying not to vomit. When Viki came in, he was almost hoping she was going to say 'Oh its okay, you can go sit in the waiting room.' But that was a foolish thought. They all thought this was what he was SUPPOSED to be doing... be there in the delivery room. He was sure that Ralston was never in the delivery room for any of them, so why did he have to be?

Will smiled weakly in return to Viki's, he just had to endure the last push, then a couple pushes for the after birth then he could go into Lara's bathroom and throw up... not much longer.

When the door to the room opened, Lara looked up with mild relief at the sight of her mum. Her mum had always had a strong stomach and Will didn't look as if he was doing so well. "Does he look okay?" She asked as her mother commented on how beautiful their son's head looked on her way up to join them at the head of the bed.

Lara squeezed her mum's hand and continued to squeeze Will's. How was she doing? "Tired... scared and it hurts," she murmured, glad of her mum's encouraging words. There was just something about getting encouragement from someone who'd been through it, egging you on.

She glanced round as Will brushed her hair from her forehead, trying a small, tired smile, still listening to her mother's words. Just one more big push. Lara nodded, shifting uncomfortably on the bed a moment later, sitting up. "Okay this is it.... uhhh...."

Bearing down, Lara could hear her mum starting to count. One... two... three. It stung, it was hard to push but still she continued, tears of frustration and determination running down her red, hot cheeks. six...seven... eight... Lara could feel movement, feel the baby was moving, shifting. Slowly, very slowly, it started to get easier, before...nine...ten... there was a sudden rush of movement and a great pressure seemed to be released, The need to push stopped and Lara collapsed back against her pillows eyes closed, chest heaving, exhausted. Was it done? Was he out? Lara was waiting for the sound of a crying baby to fill the air.

Will watched as the baby was pulled from Lara and taken away before they could really see him. That unnerved Will and as he was being carried away, Will thought to follow the incubator. He looked at Lara then Viki. "Do you mind if I go check up on him, and possibly throw up?" He asked, with a slight pleading tone. He needed to make sure that his son was okay.

Lara's eyes were closed, catching her breath after the long and heavy labor, ears straining for any sound of their little boy's first cry. There was no cry, just the sound of hurried movements at the end of the bed their baby was cleaned up and the sound of wheels. She forced her eyes open in time to see two Acolytes wheeling her precious little bundle out of the room in an incubator.

Her eyes widened, panicked, frantic. "Will? Where are they taking him? Where are they taking our baby? Why isn't he crying?" She was already trying to sit up, fumbling with the covers, trying slide her legs to the edge of the be to get up and follow the Acolytes."I want to come with you! I want to see our son!"

Viki let Lara grip her hand along with Will's as she pushed her way through the last contraction, counting slowly up to ten. Her attention was all the time on her daughter but when they reached ten and her grandson was suddenly delivered, her daughter falling limp against her pillows exhausted, Viki's attention flashed towards the tiny baby, several hands were carrying over to the incubator in the corner.

Her expression was one of concern matching the one on her son-in-law's face. Her grandson was premature, she already new that but hadnt Lara been given something to help with the progression of growth of his organs? Still, she had to be optimistic for Lara's sake; she couldnt let her know she was worried.

Beside her Lara had opened her eyes and noticed something was wrong, that her baby was being taken away and was growing frantic questioning everything. When her daughter tried to get out of bed, Viki drew her back gently but firmly. "Lara, sweetheart, you need to stay in bed. You've still got the placenta to deliver. Let Will go. He'll make sure everything's alright. Won't you, Will?" He looked a bit peaky after witnessing the birth. He looked like he could do with some air.

Viki nodded at Will, answering his question before Lara could. "Go. I'll look after her. We'll follow you after we're done here and she's had a chance to rest a few minutes."

She sighed, wrapping an arm around her daughter's shoulders kissing her forehead. "Love it's alright. He just needs a bit of help, okay. They're taking him to the special ward where they can help him." Lara was already sobbing,, understandably upset. "As soon as you've passed the placenta and had a little rest we can go and see him."

Will kissed Lara slowly, rubbing her back soothingly. "You did wonderfully, but I should go. Your mom is here, I will send in Liam, Izzy and Leslie, and I will go check on our little boy. I am sure he's fine, like your mom said, he's just getting help. After you rest for a little bit, I will come back and we'll go see him together." He told her reassuringly before leaning in to kiss Lara again.

Looking at Viki, he patted her arm. "Thank you. And please make sure she rests." he said before dashing out of the room. First to go and vomit, then to go and make sure his son was okay.

Lara was upset and scared. She'd fought for an carried their son for almost six months now, exhausted herself delivering him and they'd taken him away from her before she even had the chance to see him or hold him... even touch him. And she wanted to badly to touch him. Lara just wanted to see him; see her son and check that he was alright. When her mum held her back and helped her lie back down, she didnt fight. She was too tired and her mum was right. He was in the best possible care and she still needed to pass the placenta. Lara nodded silently and sullenly, whiping at her eyes.

When kissed her and told her she'd done wonderfully, the smallest trace of a smile, leaning into his arm a moment. "Thank you..." she murmured. "Thank you for staying." Lara was noting how Will looked a little green about the gills. But when he referred to their son as 'our little boy' fresh tears started to leek out accompanied with a small watery smile. "I'm sorry...I cant stop crying," she murmured, kissing him again.

Rest. Tired as she was, Lara was sure she wouldn't get to rest. As she watched Will leave the room, she readied her self for the last bit of the delivery.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lara was reluctant to leave II but had to to let him sleep she'd also been told that she needed to rest as well, not that she thought she could sleep knowing their little boy was allll the way down the corridor. Returning to her room, Lara was met by the sight of Liam sat in one of the visitor's chairs reading the Daily Prophet and her mum fussing around, laying out her over night things. A fresh set of her own pajamas should she want to get changed, her wash bag, a book and from the bottom of her hospital bag, her camera. Lara had to sigh. If she'd ahve known, she would have taken it with her.

With a little help, Lara climbed from the wheelchair up into her bed, pulling up the covers. The draw of sleep was already starting to feel tempting. As soon as she was settled, her mum was over with questions about the baby. "He's so tiny," Lara murmured, somewhat still in awe, holding out her hands to show how big.... or small he was. "And... he's rigged up to lots of tubes and wires, but I put his socks on and gave him his blanket and tiny teddy...Made it a bit more comfortable."

Lara reached out her hand for Will's offering him a small, sleepy and determined smile. Now seemed as good a time to tell the family the decided name of their son. "And... well, Will and I have decided what we are going to call him." She bit her lip. They were either going to like it or hate it. Either way they weren't changing their minds. "We've chosen to name him, William Geoffrey Marrid, after his dad but so we don't get confused we'll call him II for short."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Her family had been rather accepting of their choice of name for II. Her mum had been silent for a moment before stating it was perfect, her aunt who had joined them a little later had said the II had a certain ring to it. Liam... well he'd looked rather disgruntled about naming their son after his father, more so at the nickname they'd be giving him but Lara had assured him that II really did suit being a William... and a II.

After making sure she'd eaten, her family had been ushered out to let her rest. Will had opted to go to his father's to give him the news and they had things to discuss. Lara's mum had decided to stay with her, partly to keep her company but perhaps more so to make sure she actually got some rest and didnt sneak out to see her son too early.

Surprisingly enough, Lara did sleep, right through the night and had to be woken at 9 o'clock for breakfast before the nurses decided to try and pump her for some breast milk. That was one of the weirdest experiences Lara had had and soon there were two baby bottles filled, for II's next couple of meals.

Viki left Lara at about ten - Lara still hadn't seen II that morning but had been told that Will was due in at any minute, so impatient as she was to see their son, she decided to wait so they could go together.

Will came back in the early morning after he had taken a moment in the morning to realize everything that happened. He showed up in a collared shirt, sweater with a deep v neck, a tie and jeans... clothes he'd purposely left at Ralston's so he didn't feel obligated to wear them. In behind him came Ralston who nodded slightly at Lara and behind him Ramiro hobbled in with his cane and looked at Lara as if he was waiting for her to curtsey in his presence. "Lara, this is my grandfather, Ramiro." He incroduced her awkwardly.

"Grandfather, this is my girlfriend Lara." He said simply, knowing the fewer words, the better Ramiro liked you.

Ramiro took a seat in the chair and looked around, such a long walk for a man in his 90's. "When are you marrying the mother of your bastard child?" He asked as if it were a normal every day thing

Will looked at Lara, unbothered by the tone or the language but gave her an apologetic look.
