![]() ![]() ![]() This is the small, two bedroom appartment shared by the Hart sisters (Amanda and Sophie) and their two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels - Bubbles and Sqeak. The apparement consists of their two bedrooms, a small three piece bathroom, small living-room and kitchen-ette. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [[This is occurring after Amanda's dinner with Jayden - a few days later - the same night the FYE victims were allowed home.]] Amanda was worried sick. She'd got home from work a few days ago to find Sophie nowhere in sight and no note or message left to say where she'd gone or when she'd be home. Of course, that was hardly new - she was an adult now and of course could come and go as she pleased - but when she didn't return home that night and still wasn't home the following afternoon, Amanda had really started to panic. Of course, it had crossed her mind she might have gone to see that guy she'd met at the ball - some sort of animal name (she really did need to pay more attention) - but then she was sure she'd have owl'd to let her know not to cook her anything for dinner, or not to wait up for her. Nothing. Merlin forbid, Amanda had even called (not owl'd) their mother who she hadn't spoken to in well over six months, not since Sophie graduated, to see if she'd heard from her. She hadn't and Amanda had had to lie through her teeth when her mum asked if everything was okay. She'd taken several laps around Diagon Alley, visited several spots she knew Sophie liked to go two and nothing. Her sister had just seemed to vanish into thin air and Amanda was worried sick. Now sat a couple of days later, in the living-room, pushing her half eated dinner about her plate, Amanda was surprised when Bubbles and Squeak looked up from their baskets ears pricked towards the door, before leaping up barking. Was that the turn of a key and the click of the door handle? Amanda set down her plate and stood, staring at the living-room door way as a figure stepped in her eyes going wide at the state of them. "Where the hell have you been? You realize I actually called Mum I've been so worried?!" Edited by Amanda Hart, Mar 10 2010, 07:58 PM.

As soon as she could, Sophie had apparated away from the Hogwart's gates, now wishing never to return or see that castle again after all that had been witnessed those last few days. She was drained, she felt dirty and she was starving althoguh she doubted she'd get a wink of sleep predicting nightmares as soon as her eyes closed. It was with slight nerves that she lifted her hand to turn the key in the lock and opened the door to the flat, reminded of the news she had to tell her sister by the glint of the wedding band on her fourth finger. She could just imagine her sister's reaction and really was not looking forward to it. Amanda was going to freak out! Sophie could already hear Bubble and Squeak barking on the other side of the door, recognising the sound of her footsteps and letting herself in pushed past them towards the living-room, coming face to face with her sister. Her face solemn, Sophie just looked at her in answer to her question. Where had she been? This was going to take some explaining. "I was kidnapped... taken... however you want to call it. Me and about forty something others. I was at home and there was this smoke and I passed out and next thing I know, I'm waking up outside of the Hogwarts gates, being told by the two people who were our guides that we're in some alternate reality." Sophie just went for it. No easing her way into the subject. She just jumped straight in, waling past her sister into the living-room, sinking down onto the sofa and scooping up her sister's half eaten dinner and digging in. Merlin she was starved. She didn't even pause to check what it was she was eating. Amanda came and took a seat beside her on the sofa her original anger and frustration seeming to ebb away, so Sophie continued. "It was all about equality or something and we were following tarot cards, and had to magicc away all our strengths to make ourselves just like everyone else." She shuddered, remembering how plain and normal everyone had looked and acted, herself included. "Our clothes were the same, I was a brunette again, I couldn't laugh or grin, I wasn't bubbly...And they sent us all around the school and everywhere we went we had challenges or had to make choices and people were hurt...." Sophie set down the now empty plate of food, hugging a cushion to her, her eyes now wide. "I saw things this last few days I usually hide behind a cushion at in horror movies. People electrocuted in water, shackles, thrown off the Astronomy tower, stabbed... One woman was killed, right before our eyes, Amanda and it was all down to Voldemort. That guy who the Wizarding world was so afraid of years ago... still is I guess and I can see why... and his Death Eaters, or one in particular in thei case." "Kidnapped!?" Amanda's voice rose, as her sister started to explain, following her back across the living-room and sitting besdie her on the sofa, not even commenting as she picked up her dinner. "Have the authorities been notified? Are you alright? Were you hurt? Did you know anyone there and stick together?" She didn't want to think of her little sister wandering around the castle amidst all that danger on her own. "Oh, Hun. I'm sorry. I had no idea. I just got home from work and you were gone. No note not... nothing and when you weren't home the next day either...." Amanda could only imagine what Sophie had seen. She'd heard of Voldemort, of course. There'd been mention of him in the Prophet several times and especially of his Death Eaters but to know Sophie had been there, in the middle of one of his twisted... games... With people injured, killed.... gruesome tasks to carry out. Amanda sat back regarding her sister, falling silent. She looked exhausted, she looked like she hadn't wash or slept in days and judging by how fast she gulped down the remains of Amanda's dinner, she'd say she hadn't eaten in a few days either. Sophie looked dishevelled, her hair hung lip, her eyes had shadows underneath them and instead of her usual chipper grin, she was frowning - clearly she'd been disturbed y what she'd seen. Continuing her careful look to see that her sister wasn't injured, Amanda froze as a sudden glint of gold caught her eye... a ring, sat right there on her sister's left and... her wedding finger to be precise. Reaching out warily, Amanda took Sophie's hand, inspecting the ring. "What's this...? Did you...? Please tell me you didn't? Who to...?" |

Sophie shrugged and shook her head at her sister's questions. She knew about as much as Amanda did with regards to what was known about the event he in their reality. "I really don't know. I mean, I litterally just got back now. Only half an hour ago I was still stuck in that alternate reality. For all I know someone got back and has already gone to the Ministry about it." Sophie however, just wanted to forget about it. "I knew Rat. He was there and he looked after me. He and his friends.... Alison and Joshua...I was with good company, so you can relax there." She wasn't going to mention the small fact that Alison was a werewolf and had been made to transform, attacking Joshua and possibly could have turned on any of them. She didn't want her big sister to worry anymore than she probably already was. "I'm fine. Just a few cuts and bruises. Nothing some bruise healing balm won't cure and a hot bath." The thought of a bath later was just too good to be true and Sophie smile slightly. Sophie was very aware of her sister checking her over visually for any injuries she wasn't telling her about - there were none - but Sophie was too slow to stop Amanda reaching for her left hand, gripping it firmly so she couldn't pull away and inspecting the wedding band. She had neglected to mention it before because she wanted to ease it into the conversation at the right moment. Of course, perhaps there wasn't a right moment and this would have to do. "I... Rat and I are married." Her sister's eyes were wide and she looked as if she was going to blow up but Sophie interupted her before she could protest. "It wasn't planned, in fact, I guess it was sort of forced on us. The Heirphant card... The Fat Friar. We couldn't get into the Hufflepuff common room without the password and for that it require two people of equality, married and the Friar chose us." Amanda had now silent, pale and listening but she did not look happy. "Of course, we had the choice but if we'd have said no, we wouldn't have been able to proceed and probably someone would have been punished." The corners of her mouth twitched up into a small smile. "Of course, there could have been worse guys to be married to and I mean... I do like Rat. We've just... only known each other since the ball and don't really know each other at all well but we could... Get to know each other I mean." And she wanted to. Sophie really did want to get to know Rat better regardless of if they chose to remain married or had the marriage annulled - it wasn't as if they'd consomated it or anything. "We don't even know if it's binding in this reality or not and if it is we haven't even decided if we're going to remain married. But if we do, I think we'd like to do it again...although properly this time." With those they loved there to witness it. And of course, it wouldn't be right away. Sophie was sure they'd want time to properly get used to the idea and get to know each other better and of course they'd have to discuss a lot of things... like, living-arrangements and...such. "In fact, Rat and I would like us all to meet up at some point. You and me, and Rat and his brother Nitro, to discuss it sometime." |

"Married...?!" Amanda's voice rose, trying to take this in. "You're married? They forced you to get married? Surely forcing you is illegal or something? Surely there's someone we can sue?" But Sophie was sat before her assuring her they had the choice and chose to do it. Even mentioned a possibility that they might remain married after they'd all talked about it of course. It was a lot to take in. "But... you're only eighteen! You only just graduated and he... Rat? He's what? Several years older than you? Does he have a job? Can he support you? Are you going to get a job? Where are you going to live? Sophie, you're still just a kid!" Amanda was rambling, but she was Sophie's guardian... well not since she turned seventeen... eighteen but still she always felt that she was responsible for her and now to find out she was married!! "I haven't even met the guy! How do I know if he's right for you, safe for you? Do you even know his past? Does he have a criminal record? Does he mix in good circles? Do you even love him?" Amanda just kept firing off the questions. She wanted to make sure Sophie had considered all the bases before she made a decision about all this. And when and if she had, and when she'd met this Rat and if she approaved of him, then and only then would Amanda perhaps start to feel a bit more relaxed about all this. |

Rat had been taking to getting shifts that fit in with Nitro's schedule lately so they could make sure their friend was okay. But it had been almost a month since that strange event and Ali was doing alot better. Plus they got to see more of their other friends, but he never saw Sophie since then. Now, he was standing outside of said girl's flat with flowers and his brother, who held wine against his wishes. "Okay, be nice and fix your hair Nitro," he hissed, feeling even more nervous. They were meeting Amanda, which after what his wife told him about her, he was very nervous especially in the circumstances they were meeting under. Still, he couldn't turn away since Nitro had already knocked on the door. |

After Sophie had returned from that horrid event at Hogwarts and had started to explain to her sister what had happened, how she was married mainly she had done little for the last month but help around the house and gather advertisments for jobs available (not that she had any clue what to apply for.) Amanda was still unsure about her being married. Of course, she'd never even met Rat so she didn't know him. Then again, Sophie couldn't really say she herself knew him all that well either. They'd talked at the ball and at the park afterwards and then she'd seen him at that twisted version of Hogwarts but they'd hardly talked there. Sophie had had a chance to see him in action healing though and had been incredibly impressed. She liked him. That hadn't changed and hopefully her sister meeting him today, and both of them meeting his both Nitro, would make Amanda grow to like Rat too. Her big sis just didn't like the thought ofher little sister being married. To her she was still a young student at Hogwarts and she'd said as much several times in the conversations they'd had the last few weeks. There were so many things to discuss, like if she and Rat would remain married, or have their marriage annulled and date... see where that took them. If they stayed as Mr and Mrs Kiley, should they move in together? Should they have another ceremony for close friends and family? So much to think about. Hearing the knock on their flat door, Sophie hurried into the small hallway, pausing in front of the mirror to check her hair and smooth out her fitted black jeans and floaty white top. She didn't know if this would be a casual affair or if they'd all want to look nice. So she'd gone somewhere in the middle. She'd owl'd Rat only a few days ago asking if they'd all like to meet and here they were now. Opening the front door, Sophie greeted their guests with nervous smiles - Rat's more shy than nervous. She noted the flowers in Rat's hand and the wine in who could only be Nitro's and her smile broaded. "Hi you two. Come in, come in. You must be Nitro. I'm Sophie. Amanda's just in the living-room straighting things up." She nodded back the way she'd just come. "Can I take your coats? Or get you anything to eat or drink?" Sophie started to lead the way towards the living-room, reaching out to gently squeeze Rat's hand as she passed. "Sorry I didn't owl sooner. My sister took a bit of calming down and we needed to do a lot of talking after I got back. How've you been? How's Alison and Joshua?" |

It had been a month since her sister had got back from thet god awful place, shakey, upset and ... married. Amanda stilll couldnt get her head around it. She was just out of school and she was already a wife and to a guy Amanda had never met. Unplanned, almost forced by whoever had run that game. Voldemort wasn't it? Sophie had assured her Rat was a wonderful guy, a Healer, loyal to his family and friends which seemed alright but it didnt excuse the fact that they'd only ever seen each other twice! But after several weeks of talking and discussing things and waiting to see if Sophie would change her mind about liking the guy, Amanda had agreed to have Rat and his brother Nitro round to talk about where they went from here. The flat had to be spotless - she wasnt entertaining strangers if the flat was a mess. She'd also bought in some nibbles and made sure her sister scheduled the meeting for a weekend Amanda didnt have to work. When the knock on the door sounded, Amanda was in the living-room checking it was ship shape and that Bubbles and Squeak were in their baskets and on their best behaviour - you never knew who didn't like dogs. Hearing footsteps approaching the living-room, she abandonded what she was doing and looked up with a small, unsure smile, glimpsing the two brothers for the first time. Which one was Rat and which one was Nitro? Amanda had not met either. "I'm Amanda, hi. Do you want to take a seat? I guess we all have a lot to talk about..." |

Before the door opened, he recieved a sharp pat on the shoulder by his brother. He gave a shy smile to Sophie, which turned into a true smile at how nervous she seemed. "Hi Sophie. Umm, I can't speak for both of us, but I think we're fine." He matched her steps as they went into the living room. "Umm, I've been good. Maybe had an easier time then you when it came to siblings," he answered. Inwardly, Rat cringed at the Ali-Josh part. That was a sore topic. "They aren't so good, Ali's at our friend's house right now since we are here. Ya know the quidditch player one. The two of them broke up," he sighed at the memory. It was a horrible day for all of them. When they got into the living room, he gave Amanda a smile and took in the room. He could just tell that they were cleaning before they arrived. "It's nice to finally meet you. I'm Rat and this is my brother, Nitro." he responded politely before sitting down on a couch. "Yes, I'm sorry we had to meet on such odd circumstances." |

Nitro gave his brother a face when he commented on his actions. Really did he not trust him. So he patted his brother's back and leaned in before Sophie came. "It's going to be cool. I can't expect her to be a total witch." "Nice to meet you Sophie," he said nicely, giving his brother a thumbs up when she turned around. He walked behind them, getting tense when she mentioned their friend. Nitro stayed out of it though, considering this was possibly the first time in a month they have been alone together. He set the wine on the table and took the flowers from Rat to give them to Amanda. "Rat here, thought it might be a good peace offering to bring," he told her with a smirk. "I'm Nitro by the way." |

Clearly both she and Rat were nervous about the chat the two families were about to have together, but the smile Rat gave her, gave Sophie that little bit of reasurance. "Im glad to hear it." Her nervous smile became more steady. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad afterall. "Nice to meet you too, Nitro. I've heard nothing but... interesting things about you." Finally meeting Rat's brother, Sophie could definitely understand his having an easier time breaking the news to his brother. Nitro seemed really easy going. "They broke up?" Sophie's eyes widened, thinking back to how close the pair had seemed at Hogwarts. "Is that because of what happened in the Forbidden Forest?" She shuddered at the memory. Alison changed into a werewolf, attacking Joshua. The state he'd been in when she changed back. "Can you tell her I say hi? Maybe she might like to hang out some time." Sophie was glad her sister wasn't giving Rat or Nitro the evil eye as they all entered and was polite, if seeming a bit wary. She smiled between Rar and Amanda as he introduced himself and could see by the look on her sister's face that he was making a good impression. As he sat down, Sophie moved to sit beside him. Safety in numbers, right? The corners of her mouth twitched up as she watched Nitro set down the wine and grab the flowers from Rat, handing them to her sister. A peace offering? Sophie covered her mouth to stiffle a giggle, glancing up at her sister. "Nitro is Rat's brother." Of course, that was obvious. She'd told Amanda he would be coming too. Rat was right though, these were odd circumstances and Sophie nodded. "I guess, we need to discuss where we go from here." She lifted her wand pointing it towards the kitchen and summoned four glasses and a corkscrew for the wine. Who knew how long this discussion would take. "If we're going to remain married or... not..." Sophie trailed off a moment letting the thought sink in. "Whatever we decide, I'd still like to keep seeing you..." she added, cheeks a little pink, glancing at Rat. |

So that was Rat? Amanda paused where she stood to give the guy a once over. He was older than Sophie by a few years yet younger than her. He wasn't bad looking, so she could see why her sister had been attracted to him... and a Healer. A noble profession. "Pleased to meet you, Rat and you too, Nitro." The pair made a lovely couple, sat side by side on the sofa, she had to admit. Well, Nitro was certainly a character. For a moment, Amanda didnt quite know what to say to the rather confidently spoken brother as her handed her to flowers, noting also the bottle of wine set on the table. "Peace offering?" She shot her sister a stern look unsure quite what Sophie had told them about her. "Ugh... thank you, I guess I'd better put these in water. You shouldn't have." Disappearing into the kitchen, Amanda returned into the living-room setting the freshly filled vase on the coffee table, as four glasses and a cork screw landed on the table beside the vase. "I'll pour then." Amanda looked up as Sophie spoke, gettting straight to business and nodded. "I guess ultimately, the decision is up to the two of you but either way there's a lot to discuss." She and Sophie had already talked about a few of those things. "If you two choose to separate, you need to decide if you'll still see each other or just be friends. But if you remain married, forms need to be filled... where will you live? Will you want to carry out a ceremony for friends and family? Can you afford to be married?..." The list was endless. |

Rat sighed as he saw his brother give Sophie the super okay. He turned his attention back to her. "Yeah, kind of. From what we gathered from long periods of talking. It also had to deal with her age and super random danger loving side. But I'll tell her that you said hi and all," he reassurred her. "She's doing a lot better lately." After feeling really sorry for Ali, the twins had worked hard to help and it payed off. Now it was all better with some heartache. But he couldn't worry about that now, it was now all about Sophie and him and the marriage. Though, Nitro seemed to pull off some comedy. He shot his brother an amused look and grin. It was his brother, who did that. "Just in case you were angry about the whole situation." He raised his hand and caressed her cheek in a shy motion. His own cheeks tinted some, but not as much as Sophie's were. "I would still like to see you too," he whispered back. Taking in a large breath, Rat turned back to her sister. "Right now, I make more than enough for myself so unless Sophie is a super materialistic girl then I doubt money is a problem," was all he could say. The marriage part was still a big thing and he didn't know what they should do. |

He sent a nod in his brother's direction at the look, knowing that it would be discussed later. He was there for meeting and comedy. It was something him and Alison had talked of. "It was our pleasure. And trust me, your sister hasn't said anything bad about you to me," he said with a grin. It was the truth because Sophie just met him today. Who knows what she told Ratty boy. But he could tell that the two in question were very sweet together. "Don't worry, Rat can take care of her just fine if they go through with this ordeal," he spoke confidently and had to resist from using nicknames. The bonus was that this was about Rat and not him. Heck, Amanda would be frightened if she knew what his job entitled. |

Sophie sighed and nodded. She guessed there was a bit of an age gap but ages wasn't always an issue. They were... had been a lovely couple. Ali's danger loving side shouldn't be an issue. "I guess those things take time." She ducked her head at her sister's glance, amused. Her sister knew she could be a bit... practical sometimes. Sophie had even said to her she'd been worried to tell her what had happened because she didnt know how she might relax. The flowers and wine were a lovely touch. Feeling Rar's hand gently caressing her chess, Sophie flushed, leaning into his palm. listening to his whispered words. "If we choose to remain married, I'll be more than happy. We'd have the rest of our lives to get to know each other." Hearing both Rat and Nitro saying that Rat could take care of , heartened Sophie. "And I'm looking for a job, so as soon as I find something, I can help contribute as well." |

Amanda was watching Rat and Sophie, his hand caressing her cheek and the way they were looking at each other, when Nitro spoke. "Oh I'm sure she wouldn't." She had to admit her sister did look happy, even if the pair hadn't know each other long. She returned Nitro's grin, handing out the glasses of wine. She shook her head at Rat's words. "I'm not mad at the situation. Just concerned. I mean you two only met at the ball and you've only seen each other at Hogwarts since... and they forced you to get married. " That was the bit she was a little annoyed about. They were so young - at least Sophie was. "You've barely had a chance to get to know each other. Wouldn't you like some more time?" Still, she was impressed when the guys jumped in explaining how Rat earned enough to support her sister and nodded when sophie put in her two cents about finding a job of her own. "Well... apart from the occassionaly expensive treat or two but then that's just women for you," Amanda joked. Money wasn't an issue then. "Where wuld you live? I mean, Sophie has the double bed in hersbut as you can see, this falt isnt exactly big and Im sure the tw of you would want your own space." "Of course, I'll support whatever decisions you two make. I'm just offering up questions to thinka about." |

Rat placed his own wine onto a coffee table when Amanda gave it to him. He didn't want to seem like the type of person that would drink whenever. He thought about the time thing and wondered if it would be a good idea. "I know it has been a very short time. Shorter than anyone would want, but it's nothing we could handle," he agreed. There was nothing they could have done. Now they could decide what they can do. He wouldn't mind having time to wait, but there was Sophie's view point. He shook his head at the other two helping prove the point about money. So money was really no issue and he could see that Amanda was feeling better about all of this. "Money, check. Living conditions, I have no clue really." "So both of us have double beds, but live with roommates basically," he pointed out. Taking Sophie's hand, he tried to think of a solution. There had to be one. "I think I have an idea. Why don't we stay married based on the one done at Hogwarts, but we not be married officially. I mean, we take time to date each other and live apart. Then when we feel comfortable, maybe we can get married the traditional way." |

It wasn't that they'd been forced to get married - they'd made the decision themselves - but the ultimatum had been sprung on them. They'd decided to get married but whether they'd had decided to go through with it so soon after meeting if lives hadn't possibly been at stake, Sophie didn't know. Her sister was right though; they had only knowneach other a really short time and hadn't had much of a chance to properly get to know one another. "I guess... we do need time to get to know eachother. I mean what if when we get to know eachother, we don't like what we come to know?" That was a worrying thought. Maybe jumping into this wasn't such a good idea, at least not without first knowing who or what they were getting themselves into. Living arrangements. Sophie hadn't thought about that. She was so used to living with her sister and she guesed Rat was the same, used to living with his brother and flat mate. Besides, he was only just meeting Amanda for the first time and vice versa, and Sophie was only just meeting Nitro and hadn't met his other flat mate. Would that make things awkward, for one to move in with the other, with a relative stranger? Probably. "I guess living together might be weird and a bit soon. I mean we haven't... that is..." she rambled, blushing. They hadnt yet slept together, heck they'd only kissed once. Sleeping in the same bed would likely be weird. Rat took her hand and Sophie squeezed his, and nodded slowly, digesting his idea. "So... technically we're still married but instead of being like a married couple that live together and already know everything about one another... we're filling in the gaps we missed at apace we're comfortable with?" She wanted to be clear. They'd have the chance to date, to get to know one another a lot better...see if this was perhaps what they really wanted to do - remain Mr and Mrs Kiley. And if things didnt go to plan, there was always the option of filing for divorce or having the marriage annulled if their relationship didnt progress that far. Sophie smiled, squeezing Rat's hand again and nodded. "No, that sounds perfect. This wa, we can do things in our own time. No pressure." Edited by Sophie Kiley, Apr 8 2010, 01:57 AM.

So money wasn't the issue but living arrangements and time was, however Rat seemed to have the answer. Remain married, but date and live apart untilt he and Sophie got to know each other a bit better. It sounded like the perfect idea and Amanda smiled, nodding, waiting to hear her sister's opinion. "I don't like you could get a better idea than that. It sounds perfect." Her sister's worries were silly. Looking at the pair sat side by side on the sofa, Amanda had no qualms about whether or not they'd like each other after they got to know one another. "It's your choice Soph, but I think you two need time before you commit. I mean, moving in together, getting married.... It's not something you rush into." Amanda didnt want her sister to get hurt, not that she though Rat would hurt her. Edited by Amanda Hart, Apr 21 2010, 11:25 PM.

Rat had to agree though, it would be awkward probably and way too soon. He just wanted to make this work and hang out with Sophie more. "Exactly that Sophie," he answered, sending a smile to her sister. Well, it was a blessing to know that Amanda wasn't trying to kill him, and even better that she thought his idea was perfect. "So then, if that's settled on how we are handling this situation..." he trailed off trying to find the right words. Seriously, Rat had never actually asked a girl out before.
