The problem with poisons was the fact it could have been any number of them, or even something someone came up with on their own. That was the tricky part--figuring out what it was before the damage was too severe. After being put in one of the hospital gowns, the first thing the acolytes needed to do was stabilize her breathing. While one was getting the ventilator hooked up, another was putting an IV in Ella's hand, and a third was taking blood in order to find out what exactly was in her system. Blood pressure was checked and the monitor signling a beep everytime her heart beat was set up. Once most of the commotion had settled, one of them checked to make sure she was still stable, but even as that was true she was still unconscious and still having a fairly difficult time breathing. The only conclusion they could come to with that was maybe the poison had already done enough damage, but it was up to her to wake up. Once they had the blood work back they figured then they would have more answers, but for the moment? Explaining those facts were about the only explanation they could give to Brad as they would remain monitoring her condition... |

Brad didn't like hospitals, any kind of hospital. Sure he was grateful that he didn't have any experiences in which a hospital had failed to do it's job and nurse a person back to good health, but the fact that a hospital was necessary to begin with just made him jumpy. The last time he was at a hospital it was because Rose had gone into labor, a relatively happy time. He said relatively because he was sure the healers that dealt with her probably walked away with a couple of bruises and scratches. But apart from that his experiences with hospitals included his own heart attack, along with Franco's attack, and not to mention when Ella was first hurt. Now here she was again, lying in a bed, with Merlin knows how many things strapped to her bodice. He heard the Healer's explanation, in the background Acolytes rushing to do the more technical stuff, but Brad couldn't really process much at that moment. The only thing that he really figured out was that she had been poisoned and she had to wake up on her own. He gritted her teeth and was two inches away from punching the Healer in the face out of frustration but he stopped himself, knowing that would just get him kicked out and he refused to leave Ella's side at the moment. So, dragging one of the hospital chairs next to her bed, he sat down, and held her hand softly, the pad of his thumb making small circles against her skin. He heard her slow and small breathing, he was assured that it didn't look like it was about to get worse but he was still so merlindamned scared. He sighed and brought her hand up to his face, kissing the back of it softly before placing it slowly back on the bed. "Wake up, munchkin." he spoke out softly, half-way knowing that she probably couldn't hear him but it didn't matter to him. "You're not supposed to be here, you're not. You're brave, you're strong-" he stopped himself to regain composure, pressing his free hand against his face before just repeating, "Wake up." |

Over the period of time that Ella was out, the machine to help her breathe was taken off when it was considered not needed anymore. She was seemingly fine now except for a week later and she hadn't woken up yet. For her it was like endless dreams and darkness. Wanting to wake up and yet not being able to pull herself out of it. As odd of a feeling as it was, it just seemed easier to stay asleep. There was the nagging thought that there were several reasons why she shouldn't, but it was exhausting to try otherwise. The week had passed unnoticed by her, as far as she knew it had been a day or two. Each reason why she had to was too distant a thought to actually sink in till then. It struck hard of why---Brad, Jett, Annabelle, Dante, and her sister's... Several different reasons that despite her eyes still feeling heavy, she managed to open them. At first the light of the room was too much and she closed them again and waited. Logically she knew her eyes had to adjust, but she also felt stiff. How long exactly had she been stuck there? Background noises faded into focus last; the sound of an even beeping, hushed conversations in the distance and movement. Ella automatically moved her fingers first, seeing if she could. When she opened her eyes for the second time she turned her head to the side, noting the IV with distaste. Searching her memory she tried to figure out why exactly she was there, mungos as was automatically assumed, in the first place. She remembered feeling sick but...hadn't she been at the cafe or something? Whatever she was sick with must have passed or something. She couldn't put the pieces all together just yet with her mind still in a fog. |

Brad had literally been living in Mungos. He rarely left except for those moments where he was forcibly removed by either Franco or Ama and told to go take a shower. And eat, and sleep and take his medications. But as far as he was concerned, none of those other wordly matters were as important as him being there. Aside from both Annabelle and Jett; they were the only reasons he willingly left Mungo's. Even still, the majority of the time he was at Mungo's, refusing to go through his operation, until Ella woke up. He was quite persistant on that and no one, not even Franco and Ama combined could change his mind. He was sitting on the chair next to Ella's bed, his head laid next to her hand, as he was currently fast asleep. Not very comfortable at all, but he had simply fallen asleep like that. It was movement, however, that awoke him and at that he stirred immediately, lifting his head as he saw what had awakened him; Ella's fingers were moving and she had her head turned to the side. Bradley wasn't exactly sure how he would have described his emotions right at that moment. There was a huge part of him that was in absolute relief that she had woken up, a part of him that wanted to touch her, talk with her, and pinch himself to make sure he wasn't still sleeping, and he was sure another part of him just wanted to lean in and kiss her immediately. All sides of him, however, were completely happy and overjoyed to see her awake. He was also pretty speechless. After all, what are you supposed to say to your recently woken from a coma wife? He opened and closed his mouth a couple of times, struggling to find the right words, before just giving up and smiling at her, taking her hand in his and merely stating, "Good morning." Not that it was morning, and it wasn't...nearly enough to what he actually wanted to say but that simple greeting would have to do for right now. |

Seeing Brad there had an instant smile on her face. Everything had come back into focus enough for her to know she was right in where she had assumed she was. Which was unfortunate; hospitals sucked. To assure him she was alright she squeezed his hand. "Hi to you too." Talking was a bit strange as her own voice even sounded off to her right then, but like every other uncomfortable thing with just waking up she figured it'd pass. What she was curious about though? "How long have I been here?" More so she wanted to leave already. No matter what length of time, hospitals weren't fun. So Ella figured she'd still be stuck there a while she still didn't like it even if that was probably the best idea. She still wasn't really sure why she was there in thje first place except recalling she hadn't felt very well however long ago that was. |

Brad let out an immense breath of relief as Ella spoke out to him, relishing in the way her own hand held his. How many hours had he spent holding out to her hand, speaking out soft whispers of her to wake up? He wasn't sure, but it didn't matter anymore. Now, she was awake, and speaking, albeit a bit hoarsely but that's to be expected, and moving and merlindamn it, it was great. He was sure he looked a bit like an idiot right at that moment, smiling from ear to ear like an outright fool but he couldn't help it. Brad sighed and passed his free hand over his face as he tried to make sense of time yet again. It took him a couple of seconds before he could actually arrive at an accurate answer seeing as how he had wanted to answer with 'eternity' seeing as that's how it felt to him. "A week and a half? Give or take a few days." He didn't particularly want to spend too much time on that matter. It was too stressful to think about. He placed his other free hand over hers, and looked at the joined hands first as he spoke out, "You scared me for a moment there, munchkin." He brought his gaze back up to her face, a smile still on his face, just a bit more sad now that he remembered back on the past week. "You're not allowed to do that ever again." |

A week? Really? She had no concept herself at how much time had passed but to hear him tell her was surprising. That seemed like forever actually, and merlin only knew what she had missed due to it all. Brad looked tired and she figured that was from staying there and she felt a little guilty. It wasn't like only she had been trapped there then after-all. "That's...way too long." The whole idea of getting home now sounded even better and was just glad at the moment that she was actually awake and that Brad was right there. "Sorry." It seemed silly to apologize for something that wasn't her fault, but she had scared him and had evidently had him stuck staying in the hospital too over the week. "I don't even know what happened. I mean I remember not feeling well so I went back to the flat. Before that and after I have no idea." Pausing she then added. "Are Juliette and Annabelle alright?" Merlin she hadn't seen either for a week. That wasn't a pleasant feeling by any means. |

Brad laughed, entirely humorlessly, as Ella stated that the time she spent there was too long. He nodded, to show he agreed full heartedly, but in all reality it could have been worse. Some people spent months, even years, in a coma and he was glad that thankfully this wasn't the case. He couldn't even think of attempting to go through that. So he didn't; although, not thinking about the worse possibilities and the dire consequences was proving to be a lot more difficult than he imagined. He was aware he was slightly masochistic, a smidge really, but this was pretty ridiculous. When he heard Ella apologize, he merely raised an eyebrow, in both surprise and confusion. He sighed and shook his head, bringing her hand up to his lips as he kissed it softl, "You don't have anything to apologize for. I was just kidding. I know, I'm not going to be able to keep you out of trouble." He teased slightly with his last sentence, his smile turning into a full out grin as he did. Now this was normal, this was desirable; not that moping and worrying about whether or not she was going to wake up. Wow, he really needed to stop thinking about that. Because, honestly, it didn't matter anymore. She was awake, she was talking to him, and he couldn't be any happier. "They're fine. Annabelle's been staying with Amaris, and Rose has been taking care of Jett," he assured her of their well being in a soft tone, before he began explaining what Healer Fox had told him, "It seems like you were poisoned. But by what and, obviously, by who, they don't know. They just said you probably ingested it, because there weren't any needle marks, or anything like that. They just said that...the potion had done the damage and that you...simply needed to wake up." Brad had obviously not been fine with just having that as a first answer but in time he grew used to knowing only that. |

"I'm a magnet for trouble apparently," Ella laughed. Even if it was arguments or more extreme cases like this one. Things had actually been relatively calm for a bit up till the manor thing and then hiding in New York had been a good change. Of course coming back had evidently not been the best idea. Apologizing came naturally as she felt guilty automatically. Her weird thinking probably. As Brad answered her question about the girls she nodded; feeling better in knowing they were alright. As far as what happened to herself though she listened to him answer as she tried to search her memory for something that put those pieces all together. Poisoned? So magnet for bigger trouble than usual then. She went back to trying to figure out the day and started at the beginning. There were blanks but it came back in little fuzzy pieces. Maybe it was that idea that your mind tries to make you forget the most awful things. That was proving true. "I was at the cafe," she told him when it came to her so she wouldn't lose it. "It was just some lady though. She was harmless." Well seemingly harmless. Not wanting to but having to, Ella let go of Brad's hand so she could use her hands to support herself while she pulled herself up into a sitting position which made her head spin a moment from having been laying down so long. Letting it pass she adjusted how she was sitting after and was fine then. |

"Apparently," Brad repeated with an amused expression on his face, as Ella joked about the whole affair. It was honestly just a total case of constant disarray, and while usually he could pretty much ignore it and make fun of it, it was getting to be extremely more difficult to do so. Nevertheless, teasing was something that he couldn't just stop. It was part of who he was, part of his whole personality, and that was something neither cancers nor comas was going to take away from him. Aside from Ella and his family, but that was another issue in its entirety. "Maybe we should demagnetize you then. Except, maybe then I leave with it. Wouldn't want that now, would we?" Because he was after all 'trouble', as they had already established months ago. Just a very different kind of trouble, but trouble nonetheless. And he figured, as long as he was around he could try to protect Ella from other troubles that were around. He wasn't doing terribly great at that, though. He sighed and shook his head, "It doesn't even matter now. Whoever it was, they're probably long gone by now." A pity, he considered. Because he had been talking to his shish-ka-bobing buddy and they had figured out quite the plan of retaliation. Brad unwillingly let go of her hand as she moved to sit up. He looked on while she adjusted to it, restraining himself from standing up and helping her immediately, knowing she wouldn't particularly enjoy being fussed over. One thing he did do though was immediately take back her hand once she was settled comfortably into the sitting position. "I missed you," he revealed sincerely as he looked up at her, kissing the back of her hand again. |

"Between the both of us we sure get ourselves into some interesting situations," Ella said. "I can handle your type of trouble. This type of trouble? Not so much." This type of trouble wasn't the fun kind like going to the Trevi fountain or breaking the rules of what a dressing room should be used as. This type of trouble was just the kind that completely stressed a person out and screwed up any sense of time. "No, no we wouldn't," she agreed, glad for the joking manner of comments. She may have been sitting in a hospital bed at the moment but who said it had to be serious? She felt fine except for the obvious, but fine nonetheless. She was in agreement though that it didn't matter. Whoever it was didn't matter though she definitely would have made sure to find some manner of revenge if she did know who. "Right. I just want to know when I can get out of this place." With a grin and adding to all the light hearted comments, "These hospital gowns aren't attractive you know." Ella smiled as he took her hand again and she squeezed his like before. "I missed you too." |

Brad grinned at her reply, probably too tired to actually laugh, but he was sincerely elated. Happy wasn't a strong enough word at the moment. Was it possible to be even more tired now? Well, whatever bodily necessities were being demanded of his own body could wait. He had actually been getting really apt at that lately, probably not entirely beneficial to his health but after she was home, sleeping next to him with Jett and sometimes Annabelle in the adjacent room, then he could sleep. But for right now, he prohibited it from himself. "I'll call your Healer in a bit and have her check what's going on." He promised with a slight nod before he grinned along with her on her next comment. "Well you can pull it off," he commented teasingly, before adding, "Or I will. They are easily removable after all." He winked and chuckled, amused at his own ability to make any comment have two meanings, one a lot more suggestive than the other. Then again, that was simply who he was. Brad smiled at her before leaning a bit forward off the chair he was seated on so he could reach into his back pocket, "And I know it's a little late but," he pulled out a thin and long, black velvet box and held it out to her. "Happy Valentine's Day." Sure, he could no longer give her the gift while standing on top of the Trevi fountain, but he was sincerely happy with just being able to give it to her at all. |

"Don't think everyone else would appreciate it as much as you would," Ella teased back. Funny how you could be asleep so long and be tired when you woke up. Probably because it wasn't even real sleep persay, but she was too intent on finding out when she could go home to care, and the fact she was talking to Brad and had missed him. She could always sleep once they were home and had Jett. Ella watched him carefully as he was taking something out of his pocket and accepted the box to open. She had missed that hadn't she? It wasn't like anyone would have good timing in choosing to poison someone, but still. Opening it she took in the sight of the absolutely gorgeous bracelet and smiled as she looked back at Brad. "It's beautiful," she told him. "I love it. Thank you." |

"Oh, you would be surprised, munchkin. You would definitely be surprised," he grinned as he replied to her small tease with a slight tease of his own. This was natural to him, this felt normal. And while he knew that Ella was technically not supposed to be awake for a few minutes at the most, something the Healer had expressed was usual in the first few days of those waking up from a coma, he wasn't able to pull himself away from talking to her, seeing her move and sit and just be awake. He found himself not wanting to blink, and that in itself was really concerning, even somewhat alarming. What was this woman doing to him? Well, right at that moment, she was making him very smug and proud of himself when she said she loved the gift and grinned, "You're welcome. And, just so you don't forget, I do repeat this for emphasis, it pales in comparison to you." That was his line for whenever he gave her jewelry, and he stuck by it. Another line of him buying her anything was basically 'don't ask how much it cost and I won't have to lie to you', but he knew that she knew that particular rule by now. "You should get some normal sleep," he was finally able to recognize her need to rest, really rest. She couldn't possibly go from a stage of total unconsciousness to being awake just like that. It needed time, and she needed to get adjusted to it. |

Ella simply grinned at his comment, steadily getting even more tired now that she was awake. Keeping herself awake was easy on normal conditions but this wasn't exactly normal conditions. Taking the bracelet she put it on, smiling at how it looked and too at the fact that was at least a little bit of normalcy right then. "I'll believe it one of these times you say it you know," she told him. Usually it was a typical eye roll in response, but after not talking for a while she wanted to even if she was tired. Brad, however, had taken notice and though he had a point she didn't want him to. At least she realized it would probably be better to sleep than end up falling asleep while they were talking. "You should too. I'll be fine." |

"You will? That'll be the day," he joked slightly with a small chuckle, but he winked at her, to show her he was just kidding. She was stubborn, yes, but he could beat her at that. And once push came to shove, he was right about her beauty while she tended to seriously under estimate it. Therefore, he was eventually going to win, and she would eventually believe him, even if he had to keep saying it every day, twice a day, until the end of the world. Or his life, whichever came first. Brad sighed and nodded, "Alright, but I'm not going to sleep until you do." Which probably wasn't going to take long, he figured, but still it was the thought that counted. He held her hand again as he leaned up from the chair and placed a chaste kiss on her lips. "Night, munchkin," he whispered to her before laying back down in his chair again, continually rubbing small circles against the back of her hand like he had done all throughout her small coma. |

"Night." If he wasn't there she probably wouldn't have. She wouldn't let it show around him much if she could help it, but the edgy and paranoid feeling from when she first woke up? That hadn't gone away. When she thought about it she doubted it would any time soon. Any rational person would be paranoid though right? She didn't care who had poisoned her but not knowing also left it all wide open. Every crash from the hall made her look and she just mentally reminded herself that it was over. It was too exhausting anyways to attempt to bother to sort it out. Shutting her eyes and smiling over the fact Brad still had her hand, Ella was asleep in a matter of minutes. |
