Valentine's Day Ball; <3

Paolo Costa

Well...he certainly felt awkward. He wasn't blind, and while he wasn't the most clever or witty guy in the world, he did know his fair amount of body language, so he was fairly certain when he figured that he was getting looked over. By another man. Awkward. Right, so he was only able to manage out a curt nod before turning his head away for a moment and mouthing 'wow'. As it was probably common knowledge by know, he wasn't used to that kind of situation; not even in the slightest bit. Oh, that's right, he had a drink. Well, down went that one.

So what was he going to do? Pretend that didn't happen of course. At least, that was the temporary plan; it was subject to immediate change whenever he felt it necessary. "I've only been in England for about a month now, don't really know many people, but I never pass up the opportunity to party." He grinned and laughed, before ordering another drink. He was going to need it.

"Mhmmm." Athena backed away from them momentarily, as the other girl working with her was having a little trouble with one of the men who'd been standing at the bar the entire party. Although Athena was younger than most of the girls, she was still a little bit of a mother hen. And hell, she had a bit of an attitude.

Grabbing one of the glasses with ice and pouring it "graciously" with water under the counter, she glamoured it red too, and bumped one of her girls away to handle someone else, giving the man the glass. "Here you go darlin. It's so smooth you won't even taste it but lemme tell you, it'll do the trick. Now, it's Valentine's day so why don't you go find yourself a little sweetie to dance with? That girl over there's been checking you out all night, if you know what I mean." A wink, and a swing on his part later, the man was moving away from the bar, and Athena was coming back to Carlos and Hunter only to find another blonde in her place.

Well that was no fun, was it? However, the girl was telling Hunter that his...socks were untied, and with a cool eyebrow at the own 'compliment' she got on her dress, she responded, "Yours too."

Good god, how did she even get into that thing?

Now, it was practically her job to be nice to the people she was helping out, so Athena stopped at there. Had she been attending the party herself, she could have responded the way she probably might have - by a bit of an attitude, she means a lot of one -but she wasn't. So she focused instead on what Carlos had responded to her.

"Well. I guess I could suffer through that for you." She told him, before a purely wicked smile reached her face (naturally, an idea to be selfish) as she turned back to the girl. "Did you come here alone? That'd be such a shame for a pretty girl like you. Maybe once I'm off my shift I can remedy that; what do you think?" Her voice had dipped suggestively, leaning on the bar counter comfortably once again as she glanced up and down the other blonde.

Despite the outfit and the oddness, the woman was nice to look at, and honestly, Athena wasn't picky. Boys, girls...whomever she felt like playing with at the time.

In a way, Hunter was glad to hear that Carlos did photography because if it was film he'd probably... be far too tempted to ramble because he had a friend who was a director and then ask all sorts of annoying questions because Brad would want to know, and he'd tell him later. But that actually just brought up a whole issue that he didn't even want to think about at the moment because it was Valentine's Day, and he was more prone to thinking about things anyways on that particular day, so it wouldn't help...

Ugh. Whatever. The point was that Carlos was a photographer.

"I'd love to see some of your work sometime," he commented. Noting one of the customer's signal from the corner of his eye on the opposite end of the bar. Excusing himself for one moment, he quickly mixed the drink he remembered that guest had had earlier, gave it to him, and then returned to his conversation with Carlos. Athena had moved on to talking to a woman who had..just asked him if his socks were untied.

He just shook his head at the woman with a grin and turned back to the man with whom he was conversing.

"Too busy yelling at people?" he echoed with a grin. "Hmm, sounds like we might have to get to know each other outside of work then," he suggested with a smirk. "I tend to prefer undivided attention."

“There was at least one of them that wasn’t, plus me. But yeah, they were very adventurous,” he answered, laughing at the coincidence. Rat was starting though to feel like the conversation was pulling to him. Not that he minded but he felt that some of it so focus on Sophie more. “Yep, she did both.”

“Do you miss Australia?” he asked. It was a reasonable question since she had talked of it a couple of times. Plus, Rat figured it would be nice to know.

Thanks.” His cheeks had became a slightly dark shade of pink. This was all new for him. And he felt that he should reciprocate her kiss to him. But he wasn’t sure if he should. So he threw caution to the wind for just this one time.

So Rat leant forward to give her a kiss on the cheek. When he moved back up, his smile was possibly even bigger. “That would be a delight. Anywhere specific?” he responded.

"Oh I'm sure there's an adventurous side you..." Sophie smirked. "We just need to find it and bring it out." She was still impressed by his sporty friend.

"Australia..." Sophie's smile turned whistful, and she nodded. "Yeah, I guess I do but I was only twelve when we left six years ago.I still remember it though. The beaches, the warmth..." She could still remember the house they'd grown up in, the neighbourhood and the few friends they had over there. "Have you ever been?"

What Rat kissed her cheek, Sophie's cheeks flushed scarlet, eyes closing a moment small smile on her face. His lips her warm against her cheek.... or that could have been her blush. "Hmm... that was nice." Her smile widened as his did. "Anywhere... a walk maybe... get to know each other a little better..."

Out of the corner of his eye, Brad could have sworn he saw... No. That was clearly impossible. Still, one of the bartenders had ventured down near the end of the bar he was at to refill someone's drink, and just for a moment Brad could have sworn he saw Hunter. He'd only seen a brief glimpse of him, but the jet black hair, the height, the way he moved... It was all... Well, that was clearly ridiculous. There was a black-haired man, in a mask, serving people drinks at a Valentine's Day ball. He had to stop thinking he may have possible gotten a glimpse of Hunter somewhere. Ever since he'd come to England it had been like that. He thought ht was going to run into him everywhere, as ridiculous as that was. London was a huge place, and the chances of that were so, incredibly slim.

It honestly took all of Brad's willpower not to look Hunter up and contact him. He remembered how important it was to Hunter that he do this on his own, and although, yes, a tiny part of the reason (not more than 5 percent, really... ok ten percent...) that he'd taken the job in London was because it was where Hunter had gone, he wanted to respect the other man's decision. So no, he wasn't going to look him up; he was just going to keep thinking (hoping?) that he might run into him and knowing that it probably wasn't going to happen and leave it at that.

For now, he could focus on making the very-obviously-straight boy just a little uncomfortable because that was fun, and it'd be even more fun once he had a few more drinks in him. And hey--maybe the night wouldn't be a total waste, and he could find someone to go home with.

"You know? I'm the same way," he said. "Just came here from LA to work on a travel documentary, but working too much is boring, so I figured I'd come here, and turns out it was a good choice, considering the very good-looking company I'm finding." There was another grin even though he was actually trying (and probably failing) not to overdo it.

"And where are you coming from?"

The two of them made small talk just a little longer, but Paolo was clearly not interested in the way that Brad would like him to be interested, so he excused himself a little later. Paolo didn't seem too broken up over it.

Brad, luckily, didn't wind up having to spend Valentine's Day completely by himself. He wasn't sure if the guy he wound up taking back to his hotel room completely played for his team, but he did know that there was enough liquid courage for him to follow through, and honestly? For the moment, that was good enough for him for one night.

Rat Kiley

"Only when it comes to healing," he remarked. Rat was okay with not being adventurous, he was the reliable one and that was always a good thing.

He shook his head. "Just here and the US," he answered. But he was okay with that, London proved to be the better side to his life. "Guessing living here is the exact opposite when it comes to weather then?" he questioned.

"That sounds nice." Rat wouldn't mind getting away from here anyhow. Dancing wasn't his thing, plus it would be easier to talk to Sophie. Talking over music was pretty hard.

"An adventurous Healer? So, you take chances and go with your gut instinct?" Sophie asked curiously. She didn't mind that otherwise he seemed to be the reliable sort, perhaps one of those conventional guys. He was sweet and she had to admit, she reall quite liked him.

"I've never been to the US," she mused, thoughfully. It was certainly on her to do list for one day. "Just here and Australia. What parts of the US?" Sophie laughed when Rat mentioned the weather and nodded. "Very. I remember a lot more sunshine back in Australia but here there just a lot of rain. Although I have seen some sun...And of course, it's colder."

When Rat responded to her suggestion that they go somewhere, Sophie grinned. There were too many people about and it was hard to really talk and get to know him with the music and lights... She bit her lip, reaching down for his hands and tugging on them, turning in the direction of the cloakroom. "I need to get my coat but... um... I know this nice little park where it should be quiet and we can talk... get to know each other."

"Kinda, I try to just make sure the person gets healthy quickly and efficiently," he responded. Rat didn't want to sound careless. He just tried to get people out of the place because it really wasn't that nice of a place anyhow. Hospitals should be more cheerful and make people be happier when they are in pain.

"The east coast, but mostly the north part of that." He laughed along with her. Such small talk but good talk. Somehow he could imagine her more of a sunny person than the rainy one when it came to places to live. "Sounds like a place you enjoyed alot."

Rat nodded at her idea as he followed her. He even got his Gryffindor courage up a tiny bit to give her hand a squeeze. "A park sounds like an excellent idea." Then the most random thought occurred to him, but it would probably be a good idea. "Should you tell your sister that you are leaving? Or will she be okay with it?" he asked.

"Well at first they were confused on what I was receiving." He laughed. "But I think they managed to figure out what I was attempting to say. I never lived that down though." No, they would constantly teased him about it from time to time.

And it was true, they just met. "Approximately three hours ago? Or something along that line." He already lost track of time, but that tends to happen when he was enjoying himself. And tonight, he was. That was something he haven't experience in a while and he was quite glaad he came tonight.

At Amanda's comment, he grinned. "Well in that case, maybe I should give you a head start while I count to ten?"

Amanda continued to smile as Jayden laughed, somewhat amused as to what they must have thought at his work. "Im sure everyone has something they'll never live down," she pointed out with a small smirk.

"Three hours already?" Amanda's eyebrows rose. "Time flies when you're having fun, then, I guess." She was sure she hadn't said that in a long time but then asides from when her sister was home, Amanda rarely got out. She was always at work or at home taking care of stuff. She hadn't been in the company of such a nice guy in a while either, yet her seh was dancing and chatting with Jayden whom she'd just met.

Amanda actually laughed at his suggestion, quickly silencing herself when she realised what she'd done, biting her lip, her voice instantly lowering. "Be bit difficult for me to get a headstart when I dont even know where we're going to each."

"You sound like you know what you're doing then,"Sophie smile warmly. "Remind me next time I get into a scrape, to ask specifically for you and only you."

Sophie's geography was terrible. She'd never been particularly good at the subject at school (before she was eleven) and that hadn't changed. So she just nodded. "Was it... warm on the East coast or cold like this?" When Rat asked her about Australia again, she grinned. "What I can remember of it, I loved. We'd go to the beach after school some day or camping in the bush with dad..." She did miss it sometimes.

As she dragged Rat towards the cloakroom, she felt him squeeze her hand and glanced back at him over her shoulder with a bright grin, squeezing back. "Good, because if you don't mind side-along apparation, I can take you there." Reaching the cloak room, Sophie took her coat slipping it on and shook her head at Rat's question. "She looks fairly occupied as it is. Besides, I have a key and I'm a .... grown-up now. I cna come and go as I please." She grinned giving his hand another tug this time towards the door. "Come on." Tugging him outside, a moment later Sophie apprated them off to Prior Park.

Eamonn had found Carlie not much later and watched her for a moment, she generally always had a way with people, but she definitely didn't like the guy turning his back on her. Within a second of her hand closing around the handle of her wand, Eamonn had rushed over and had his arm around her shoulders. Though her eyes never left her failed target, Eamonn looked at the people she was surrounded by. "My apologies, she must have had one too many..." He suggested, covering her mouth quickly as he lead her away.

"How'd you even find that, you know better than to do that, Carlie. You just get out of Mungo's... you'll be back soon if you keep that up." He hissed, dragging her to a table.

She watched Amaris finish both her's and Tina's drink. Now that was a girl who knew how to have some fun.

Amber smiled at them. "This is definetly one of the best parties I've ever been to." She told them, as Amaris led her to the dance floor.

This was an awesome night.

She liked meeting new people, she loved talking too. Luckily for her she had found some new party friends for sure.

Amber-Lynn wasn't even close to drunk yet. Now how much fun was that? Not very.

She grabbed a drink from a passing bartender and finished it, with only taking a few drinks.

She had to at least get a little tipsy before she started dancing and having some more fun.

She couldn't help but grin as Abi commented that she was only partially kidding. "Well, I'm pretty sure it would work. But...yeah. I'm kinda kidding too." Kind of.

Lynx was definitely glad to see Emma join them. "Hey Em!" She reached over and hugged her, although it was getting a little difficult with her friend being so far along in her pregnancy. "How's it going?"

She was definitely amused with Emma not even realizing what shoes she was wearing. "Well, I like them too: both comfortable and practical," she commented. "But practical enough to dance in?"

The three of them eventually headed out on the dance floor for at least a little, then deciding to just have fun and enjoy some drinks for the night (well, non-alcoholic for Emma) before heading back to their husbands and children too.

Declan grinned. "What, you want to shoot me now?" he asked, purposefully misinterpreting that particular question. "But yeah," he teased, "you don't need the extra hormones."

Of course, he was kidding. He loved just being out and able to tease her lightly. Them fighting had been a little difficult, yes, but they had both apologized and overreacted and he just wanted to move forward from there. It wasn't going to be easy moving forward, but they were going to do it.

"Well, I'm certainly glad you're here instead of working." He paused to lean in and kiss her softly. "Because I missed you, so screw all the lonely, bitter people that didn't have dates." Was that insensitive of him? Probably. But really: people could choose how they dealt with things, and those people happened to have chosen poorly.

"That doesn't suck for me at all," he replied with a laugh. "That's what sitting down is for, of course. See? Practical. But...could you survive long enough in those shoes for a dance?"

"Not me, the cupids." Kel responded, despite knowing that he was being obtuse on purpose. "Though if you'd prefer me to do it..."

She'd let that trail for a moment, but at his comment about not needing the extra hormones, her eyebrows went up as she corrected, "Let me go get that bow..."

It didn't bother her so much, to be teased about her pregnancy. For the first few months she'd been extremely sensitive about it, snapping at anyone who mentioned anything about her whatever. They say they like her clothing, and she took it as someone instinuating she was getting fat. Honestly, she had gotten really big, really fast, and not being comfortable with the idea of being pregnant, she'd just taken to it like oil did to water.

Like, not at all.

However, she was five months pregnant, just over halfway there, and things were beginning to just settle for her. She was slightly more ready to accept that this was happening, especially once she'd stopped trying to picture herself taking care of a baby. One step at a time, although unlike Kel to do, was how she was dealing.

And she had to admit, feeling the baby move helped a little. Which reminded her; she needed to tell him about that. She'd woken up that past night to what she thought was a kick...maybe. She wasn't sure; it felt odd, when it was happening, and since this was her first time actually being pregnant long enough to get to that point, she just didn't know.

She supposed she'd see soon enough, when it started happening again and she knew he wasn't sleeping, she'd just have to ask him.

"I missed you too."
Kel responded, snapping out of her thoughts in time to respond to his kiss, entwining her fingers with his just to initiate more contact even if he pulled back. "Of course I can survive long enough for a dance." Kel smiled, momentarily thinking about the last time that they'd danced.

It had ended quite nicely...

Jayden Bentley

Jayden smiled at her as he found her laugh rather adorable. "It sure does." He nodded in agreement, before responding to her question. "Hm, well there's only a few seafood place around London. But lady's choice." He grinned. Honestly he didn't care, they were mostly all similiar in the food they carried. By now he was getting hungry at the thought of food, since he basically didn't eat anything since he had arrived. He was sure he didn't bother to finish his firewhiskey which is a definite first.

His stomach then let out a small growl as he laughed. "Better pick soon before I pass out from hunger." He joked.

Sam just grinned as she continued dancing with him. As she did, she leaned forward and rested her head on his shoulder. The slower song was definitely appreciated for reasons such as getting closer.

"You're very welcome," she responded. There wasn't a whole lot of need for words right at the moment, so she really wasn't saying a whole lot. That was fine by her.

"So, how has your week been?" she asked as they danced. She honestly hadn't gotten much time to talk to him through setting all of this up. It was a big party, and it had taken a lot of time to plan.

When Amanda laughed, she blushed, a rosey shade of red. Few people really, ever got to see her laugh outside of her own flat. When Jayden smiled at her when she laughed, Amanda's blush only intensified and she found herself lowering her gaze a moment, strangely shy. She wanted to blame it on the wine but didn't know if that'd be the truth.

"Lady's choice, huh?" Amanda bit her lip trying to think of the places she knew which specialise in seafood or cooked wonderful seafood among the items of their varied menus. Hearing Jayden's stomach growl, she giggled, realising just how hungry she felt as well. "All right, all right...Um... well I hear that La Tua Cantante served rather good seafood... In Diagon Alley." She wasn't sure what she'd order yet, she'd wait and see what was on the menu. "Id have to collect my coat from the cloakroom first."
