Carlos Cisinerros
Cisinerros #2
Carlos didn't usually reveal the inner workings of his mind out loud, mostly because there was no point to it because the thoughts were preliminary to his actual words, and they would be if not wholly, then somewhat apparent. These thoughts however, were necessary to be spoken out loud because there was no possible way to lump them all together into a coherent sentence or paragraph or rant. He knew that by now- his coherency was already decreasing. Pretty soon he was going to resort to toddler vocabulary; Xandra would be able to understand him.

"We'll have to see, but as of this moment it is firmly set on 'ohmymerlin we're going to be responsible for the life of another human being' shock." See? His coherency and eloquence in speech was already decreasing. It would probably talk quite a fair bit of 'processing' as she called it, before he would regain his usual vocal composure.

Books, she had already bought some, somehow this was able to calm him down a bit. Maybe it was because that meant that he wasn't the only one feeling so terribly unprepared, and as horrible as it sounded, he liked having company in the land of the clueless. Clueless, but not for long. "Thank you, I'll definitely give them a look." More than a look, it would mostly resemble a thorough examination if he was going to be honest. Not to mention, he would need to find at least one or two books that specialized with fathers to be because no doubt the processes were different. Well, of course, but aside from the physical...changes, there was bound to be more.

Hearing that Athena wasn't going to continue school somehow put everything more in perspective for him. He knew about her plans to go to the Royal College of Art and how she was excited because she had been given her own wall at a gallery and she had an exhibit and now she was going to stop going to school and she was selling her paintings...he didn't know what to say. A sorry would not have been appropriate because she was doing so for the sake of their baby so...what could he say?

"For now. You're done with school, for now. You can go back later, when the baby is older and less likely to deprive you of sleep and time?" He was grasping at straws trying to find a solution but...who really knew.

"I've always liked the color green," he commented, gladly jumping on the opportunity to switch the topic. "That sounds great. Don't tell me you're a pro at wall painting as well?" It was a tease, but it made sense. After painting these elaborate things, sticking a coat of paint on a wall seemed like a pretty easy thing to do.

Squeezing Athena's hand after she held it for her own, Carlos nodded, relieved once more that at least they were nervous and clueless together. "That horribly makes me feel better," he admitted with a small smile. He had even almost forgotten about the small toddler on his lap, until Xandra started leaning away from him to try and touch Athena's stomach too. He laughed lightly, shaking his head as he used his free hand to steady her while she put her tiny hands against Athena's stomach as well. Curious creature.

Athena nodded in understanding as Carlos took a second to answer her question on what kind of shock it was at the moment, accepting that it was just going to be like that at the moment. It was a little scary, thinking about the fact that those moments where she, on a whim, decided to go home with someone else? Ha. Like that would happen. And bringing home people? Not with her child. No way. Only trusted men and women would be around her baby. This was obviously a huge lifestyle change because she didn't tend to care so much about herself, but it was one she was ready to make anyways. it would be good for her.

It intrigued Athena slightly to hear Carlos put limitations on her decision not to go to graduate school, and then ended it as a suggestion with a question mark. It really didn't bother her all that much, to be honest. Yes, it would have given her more up into the world of art and she would have been able to actually have a leg up by going to that school, but she had a baby now. She had to thought about what paid so that she could feed the baby, not that she could do what she loved and normal things like food and utilities second. Maybe she could teach later. Now? Now she made good money working for Carlos' brothers, especially on nights when she danced. Tigs were fantastic those days, moreso than at the bar or waitressing.

"For now."
She allowed, softly. Even if she didn't believe it, he seemed to feel better adding such. She was fully aware of the fact that her window of going to the RCA had closed when she sent in her withdrawal from the program. They didn't hold acceptances for a year or two like most colleges; they were too select for that. Either way, she had other options for when she got past the pregnancy. She'd figure it out then.

"Well. Wall-mural painting, maybe. Just watch, I'll start to paint it normally and by the third stroke get really bored and paint designs instead." Or maybe she'd just get someone else to paint it for her, so she didn't have to bother with the fumes.

"It's not horrible, it's understandable. It just means we're on the same page." When Xandra leaned forward to touch her stomach, Athena couldn't help but smile, hesitantly asking, "May I?"

She needed to put away her stomach soon anyways before someone else saw, but she wanted to hold the little girl.
