Dea had been finishing up her shift when the first three wolves had come in, but she had been heading to another patient at the time. When the next two came in though, Dea hurried over to help.

They usually didn't have many supernaturals coming in, her fellow people tending to prefer to take care of it themselves, or sometimes, in pure animalistic form, left the injured for dead. Therefore, She was a little taken aback when one of the women with amber eyes collapsed right in front of her in the lobby, pale, shaking, and bloody. However, just because she was surprised, it didn't mean she didn't react immediately.

The woman was lifted onto a hospital bed and rushed into one of the rooms, an IV expertly inserted as the thrashing woman was strapped down, as to not hurt one of her acolytes or herself. After a couple tries to the other woman, Dea got a name, and therefore a file, and was able to find out quickly what the issue seemed to be. An IV bag of Terbutaline was issued, as well as one of Heparin, hoping to stop the contractions and at the very least, slow the bleeding.

Dea hooked her patient up to the machines to monitor heart rate and blood pressure, the ultrasound probes in the room, waiting. The woman's heartbeat was a fair count faster than it should have been, so Dea stayed in the room with her, monitoring both vitals until the medicines started to work, and the woman stilled.

Dea got up to check that everything was still alright, pleased to find that the bleeding had stopped, as had the contractions, and all vitals were relatively normal other than increased heart rate and a slightly higher blood pressure.

When the woman came to, she turned on the machine, comforted by the low hum, dimmed the lights slightly, and put her cold hands on the woman's face.

"Calm." She murmured. "You're safe."

Juls really didn't remember anything after she had been apparated from the den, coming to with a ferocious headache. It was pounding, and she didn't want to open her eyes. For a few moments, she was silent, just listening to the sounds in the room, and paying attention to the smells; one caught her attention, and she stiffened. Vampire?

It was hard not to listen a second later for some reason though, as she opened her eyes and looked up into the eyes of the girl who was touching her. She was in healer garb, and Juls immediately corrected it in her head; if she was a vampire, she was who knows how old. Still, her body was relaxing without her deciding it to do so. Suspiciously, she glanced over at the IV tube, following it over to see two half-empty bags, and one new-looking one.

"It's simply a calming drought in a blood transfusion. It'll make it difficult to check you over if you're as tense as you were."

Juls closed her eyes again.

"I'm not going to sugar coat this, alright? You lost a lot of blood. Realistically, the stress of a full moon when the womb is beginning to become a snug fit for the baby, even if you hadn't gone through one right this second, might have..."

"Emery?" The tears started to rise of their own accord, her body aching in a way that all of a sudden seemed too much to handle at the moment. She didn't want to hear what the vampire healer was going to say, she wanted to hear that her baby was okay. Not that she might have...

No. Juls refused to even think about it, and instead cut off the healer, searching for her friend instead.

"Em. Llian. I need..." The baby wasn't kicking. After being pummeled from the inside for so long, the fact that she couldn't feel the baby moving around was scaring her, ignoring the tug if the IV as she pressed her shaking hands to her eyes. A mantra of 'no' was repeating in her head. No... no... no...

Em had apparated from the Den and rushed into the hospital, all but carrying Juls into the lobby. She was more concerned for the safety of her friend than she was of anything else, and she figured that was what allowed her to stay calm. That, and the deep breaths she was taking herself to attempt to calm her nerves.

She followed the Healer into the room with Juls, right beside her, refusing to get even a step behind. She only stopped moving once the bed reached the room. She was at Juls's side again instantly.

"I'm right here, Juls. I'm not going anywhere." Sure, they'd talked about it before and she'd said that she'd never have wanted to view birth, but... if it was going to happen, right that second, she wasn't leaving. When Juls said she needed Llian, Em nodded, and rushed to find a small pad of paper. She scribbled a note down for Llian to meet them there and the room number. She didn't give specific details, because there wasn't time to write it and she didn't want to scare him. She just needed him there as soon as possible. When it was finished, she looked to the Healer.

"I need an owl. Now. This has to be sent." She passed it off to the Healer, expecting her to just deal with it, and she returned to Juls's side. "Okay, Juls, you need to stay calm. Let the Healer do her job, okay? The baby is going to be perfectly fine. He's going to be born a healthy, beautiful baby boy, alright?" And if he wasn't? Em was so killing that Healer.

"I need you to stay calm." Dea told her patient, adding another five milligrams to her IV, as the calming drought clearly was being overshadowed by the woman's panick.

The other woman was allowed to stay in the room under the promise that she would stay out of the way when the healers needed to work, but when the patient asked for the man Dea had read was posted as the father, the other woman headed out of the room. That gave Dea the chance to check her patient's pulse, change her into the hospital scrubs, and pull out the probe once again. The contractions had completely stopped, and Dea began kneading the patient's stomach gently to figure out where the baby's position was.

"The baby is in the natural breech position right now, head down, facing your back. This is good. This means there should not be any stress on him from position. I'm going to do an ultrasound and a probe to make sure the umbilical cord is not wrapped around him, and the placenta is still attached to the uterine wall. The contractions have stopped as well as your bleeding, but right now, I just need you to stay calm."

Juls was thankful as Emery immediately rushed out of the room to owl Llian, but at the same time, she wanted Em to be back already. As soon as she was, Juls reached out and grabbed her hand, biting her lip hard against the pain of her stomach being kneaded. It wasn't that the healer was being rough, it was just that her stomach felt like pins and needles, sore, like a really bag bruise being pressed.

Hearing that Taylor was in a breech position didn't tell her anything, not really. He'd been moving around a fair amount from place to place. The comment about not being stressed was good, but she was stressed. She was, terrified. It was hurting so badly and she was so, mentally frightened that she had no idea to even react at that moment.

"He's only 32 weeks. He's too early. It's too early..." She was trying to keep calm, but it was hard to keep the tears in.

Em had returned to the room after owling the letter. When Juls gripped her hand, she squeezed it in return, almost wincing herself at Juls's visible pain. There wasn't much she could do to help anything, but at least she was there. She wasn't going to leave her there, especially when Llian hadn't arrived.

"Juls, he'll be fine," she repeated, trying to keep her voice calm and collected. The last thing she wanted was for Juls to freak out. That would only make it more of a disaster. "He's going to be perfectly fine, I promise you." Babies were born at thirty-two weeks all the time and they were fine. He'd probably just need some extra attention, but he'd be okay. "But you need to remain calm. For Taylor. Breathe. Breathe, and try to relax."

All she could do was offer words of what were supposed to be comfort. Ugh, Llian was taking too long. Given, she'd only just sent the letter, but still!

"Can't you give her something for the pain?" she asked the Healer, opting to not snap at her like she'd probably have done in a normal situation. "Or more calming drought, or something?"

He'll be fine. Everything will be fine. Juls held onto Emery and her words as hard as she could, feeling the panick reach her throat, overwhelm her. She was doing her best to keep her breathing steady, but it was so, damn hard. She had gotten so attached to the idea of having a son, the room was almost all the way prepared for him...she'd gotten confident over the last six full moons that everything would just be okay. Apparently she was counting her chickens before they hatched.

Literally.

Breathe. In, and out. In, and out.

"No, she's already at her limit for medications right now. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. It's okay. Just tell me he's going to be okay." Her only response was the insertion of the probe, and she sucked in a sharp breath.

"You're not dilated at all. This is all good."

The cold gel that was spread across her stomach next felt good, but it alerted Juls to the fact that she felt feverish, turning her head to see if she could get a look at the monitor. She and Llian had been there twice for ultrasounds and she knew what to look for in terms of seeing her baby, but the monitor was turned away from her. It was a sigh of frustration that followed her looking back at the ceiling. The movement of the machine over her stomach felt much like the kneading, but at this point Juls was past it hurting. She just wanted to know everything was alright. Everything needed to be alright.

Llian had been in his office teaching a class, actually, when he got the owl. The poor thing seemed incredibly anxious, and as soon as it flew in the already-open windows of the classroom, it was basically attacking him till he took the letter. He'd apologized to his class, taking a break for the moment (and he was sure they were oh-so-devastated) to read the letter.

His blood practically ran cold as soon as he read what it said. Juls was going to the hospital. Their baby could be in danger... Thank Merlin he had the assistant Professor for those emergencies. He was more than happy to take over for Llian as he apologized to the students and had to go (this year he had an assistant Professor because of all the Auror emergencies that seemed to come up).

As soon as he was off the Hogwarts grounds, he apparated to Mungo's immediately. He was lucky he didn't splinch himself, given the fact that he was totally and completely preoccupied.

He got one of the Healers to show him to Juls' room. They showed him in when he said he was the father, and he found her there, looking a little worried, getting an ultrasound with the monitors facing away from her and the door.

He muttered a brief hi to the Healer before rushing to Juls' side and taking her hand. "Hey, are you ok? What's going on?" He was trying to keep the panic out of his voice, but it was definitely difficult. The last time he could remember something like this happening was Julie going into labor with Claire a month early...and that had been a nightmare. He was just praying that she wasn't having the baby now or worse... losing him.

"Juls, he's going to be fine," Em assured her again, squeezing her hand a second time. She wanted to calm her down, she wanted to make her believe that everything was going to be okay. It was a scary time, though. She couldn't be sure whether or not Taylor would be okay. She believed he would be, but she was no healer. All she could do was assure Juls that he'd be fine, and hope she was right.

When a man entered the room and rushed straight to Juls's side, Em assumed this was Llian, the father of Taylor and the man she'd heard such good things about. Her eyes narrowed slightly, scrutinizing him. He looked panicked, and obviously Em understood why. When he asked Juls what was going on, well... she took it upon herself to answer instead. Juls was a little preoccupied.

"I'm not exactly sure," Em admitted with a sigh. "We were hanging around the Den, and she started complaining that the baby was kicking really hard, and then she stood up and there was just so much blood... The healer's been checking her over, and from what I gather she'll be fine, but... she lost a lot of blood."

Em looked over at the healer, a tired and slightly annoyed look on her face. She hated dealing with healers, especially at St. Mungo's, and especially ones that smelled like gross vampire. It was just irritating. "What are you seeing on the ultrasound? Is everything okay?"

Juls had to let go of Emery's hand right after Llian came in, the healer rolling her onto her side to try and move the baby; the placenta was hidden behind him. She stifled a cry as the healer began to press into her stomach to help the movement along, but it was useless. At the same time though, through the tears she hadn't been able to stop there was a slight laugh. With the healer guiding the positioning, she could feel arms and legs pressing into her once again.

She didn't know if it was from the baby moving, or it was from the healer moving the baby, but it had released the panick just a little.

Once she was back on her back and could breathe again, though keeping her eyes on the healer for some, kind of news, introduced them. "Emery, this is my boyfriend, Llian. Llian, this is one of my best friends from the Den, Em."

She had to take another breath, the machine pressing against her painfully again. It strained her voice. "No...I don't know..."

His questions.

"Contractions, actually. Not the baby kicking. Either from stress or the moon, it looks like you have what's called placental abruption. The placenta has become slightly separated from the uterus. Luckily it just looks like a small placenta rupture, but that doesn't mean it's not dangerous. Full separation results in either emergency cesareans at the stage you're in. Right now we don't need to do that; your baby's lungs aren't fully developed and we've been able to stop the bleeding and contractions. This does mean that you will be placed under close observation for the next few days, and if your condition doesn't worsen, you can go home. Right now, we're going to keep you on fluids and transfusions."

"Your baby is not under distress at this moment, and I suspect as soon as your heart rate slows down, so will his."

The healer turned the monitor back towards them now that she was certain there wasn't going to need to be an emergency procedure.

Oh. Wow. Oops. There was another person in the room. In his worry and haste to get to Juls, he actually just legitimately hadn't noticed that someone else was there with her. He figured this was one of the girls from the Den, and shortly he was introduced to her.

Despite the situation, he smiled and extended his hand, trying to be polite and calm. "Nice to meet you, Emery," he greeted her. "And thank you...so much...for bringing Juls here." Of course, he figured he didn't need to thank her because they were best friends and she'd do it anyways, but still. He was so incredibly grateful.

Llian's eyes snapped up to the Healer when she began talking, and as she did, he became just a tad bit relieved, and exhaled slowly. There was no immediate danger to Juls or their baby. The baby was doing well, the contractions had stopped, Juls had a transfusion... Yes, she still had to be in for observation, but for now things were all right. They could pull through the rest. He knew they could.

"Ok, everything's going to be all right,' he said to Juls, equally for his own benefit as hers. "He's doing well right now, and you'll just stay here, and he'll be fine, and you'll be fine, and then we can go home."

Of course, nothing was as relieving or satisfying as seeing their baby right there on that screen. When the monitor was turned towards them, he automatically smiled. He couldn't not smile when he was looking at his son on that screen. Merlin, he was getting so big. There was still a lot to go, and he was still nervous because they weren't quite out of the woods yet, but it was something. Right then, that moment, where their baby boy was doing well and still healthy, was something to hold onto, and that was exactly what Llian planned on doing.

Emery had shaken Llian's hand, being nice for Juls' sake. The thank you was brushed off, and the pleasantries were returned. However, attention did go back to the vampire healer once she offered up - finally - what was happening.

Juls hadn't realized just how utterly terrified and guilty she'd felt until the healer told her that - thanks to Emery's quick reaction - their baby would be okay, given that she took it easy and the next full moon didn't rupture it completely. The next full moon, the baby would be 36 weeks. That would, at least, be on the upper edge of acceptable vaginal birth. At the same time though, she was being told her baby's heart rate was elevated because hers was, and so she tried to regulate her heart, trying to control her breathing.

It wasn't exactly all okay. She was still hurting, still extremely sore and it seemed the harder she tried to control herself, the less control she felt she had. The situation was slipping away from her rapidly with every word that the healer was saying. Emergency cesareans. Placental previa. Rupture.

The healer went on to tell her not to use any drugs - medical or otherwise - and that for the next full moon if she still was carrying the baby, she would need to come into Mungo's for observation then too.

Llian seemed to be reassuring both of them that everything would be okay, and crisis slightly avoided - she was still dangerously close to more tears - Juls turned her head to look at the monitor, finally relaxing slightly. There was nothing stronger than seeing is believing, in terms of things like this. With a slight laugh bubbling wetly from her throat, Juls looked up at Em and said, "Too bad Jay's not running around creating havoc around here, because otherwise I'd get to show him this and tell him this is why, I look like a...house."

To Llian, she explained, "We had a little bit of an accident with something cursed but he'll be alright. Jake knew the counter-curse or whatever. Were you busy when Em owled you?"

She hadn't even thought about that...and immediately felt horrible. It wasn't like he just sat around all day doing nothing; he was an auror, and a teacher, and owling him while she was panicking probably hadn't been a good idea.

"Ow." The flinch had passed over Juls' face, slightly shocked and very, very pained as she realized that the baby had moved - both visible on the screen, and had been for just a moment against her stomach. A tiny little elbow, jabbing into her sensitive side. At the same time though, it meant more to her that he was moving.

Em didn't do well with meeting new people. She was cautious, probably overly so. The Den was her family, her friends. Anything outside of it way outside of her comfort zone. Nevertheless, she decided to be nice to Llian, for Juls's sake only, and shook his hand. Normally, she'd probably have been rude, but this was not the time. Besides, she'd been told great things about him, and maybe he deserved a chance.

When the Healer said Juls and the baby would be fine, Em let out a huge sigh of relief. Sure, there'd be observation and hospital stays, but she'd be okay. That was all she could have hoped for. And she knew Juls would pull through.

"Wow," Em whispered as the monitor was turned towards them. Seeing Taylor on that ultrasound was incredible. He was so big, and there on the screen, and it was just - "Amazing..." Clearly she was stunned at the whole pregnancy thing.

At Juls's comment, Emery smiled. "Jay would be if he weren't in his own hospital room..." she said. "And you do not look like a house. Jayden's just a jerk."

Llian could see that Juls was still very emotional, and he completely understood why: they weren't out of the woods yet. Hell, he was still pretty emotional. He was nervous, and he could easily recognize the symptoms that came with the anxiety: the room felt about a million times smaller, and it was a little harder to breathe. Of course, nothing in the world was going to get him to leave that room, to leave Juls and Taylor.

They both had turned to focus on the monitor, and Llian was also paying attention to Juls' story, although he had a feeling that was more for Emery than him, considering he really didn't know who Jay was.

"You don't look like a house," he put in, his contribution to the conversation. It was just the truth. "Maybe a cottage," he teased, although right after he said it, he wasn't sure if she was in the mood for teasing remarks. Oh well.

Juls then explained what had been going on when she was at the Den. "I'm glad you're ok," he said. When she asked if he was busy, he just shook his head. "Not with anything more important than this," he replied automatically. "Just teaching a class, but emergencies like this are why I have an assistant Professor who can take over for me, so don't worry about that. Everything's fine there."

Llian looked up at Emery, smiling at her amazed comments at seeing Taylor on the monitors. "It is pretty amazing," he agreed.

He was distracted from that, however, when he heard Juls' small, sharp expression of pain. "Are you all right?" he asked, concern immediately evident in his tone.

Juls couldn't help but smile at Emery over her good behavior, knowing that usually she would be judging what he's wearing, what he looks like, how he was acting. It was just the way Emery was, but she appreciated her just greeting him anyways.

When Llian corrected the comment to a cottage, Juls frowned at him, and then added with a grin, "Only if it's a cute one with white lattice work and roses and that whole fairytale aspect which is non-existant like, my 'cottage' sized stomach."

At least a cottage was smaller than a house? Besides, the comment had ended in a hug. She liked hugs.

"Basically all but...two people from the Den plus Em's fiancee are in Mungo's at this point I think." They'd left Mist and Ri alone. Hm. Somehow, that didn't seem like such a good idea...at all. The commentary about the ultrasound though was just making her grin, slightly in pride, slightly because she was just so damn relieved that things could be okay if she just took it easy and was careful. Her stomach hurting still worried her, but they had been told that was normal, for a little while.

On the ultrasound, Taylor moved to put his fingers in his mouth, and Juls practically beamed. She could already envision him in her arms, thanks to the amazing technology the world has come up with, and she nodded her agreement to their amazings.

Unfortunately, the healer turned off the machine and magically cleaned up her stomach, writing down the information and with one last reminder, left the room to go to other patients.

Hearing that he was teaching a class - even if he said it wasn't important, and had an assistant prof - made her feel a little bad, so she was quick to just say, "Fine. He just moved and my stomach is a little tender." Understatement, but she was used to doing that.

"Thank you so much for being here Em.
" Truthfully? Juls was impressed. She hadn't expected Em to react so quickly, or even stay in the room with her after she'd been very clear about her squeamishness over the idea of birth. But either way, she really, really appreciated it.

Emery smiled as she watched Llian and Juls. They were sweet, and her approval was definitely growing. She could tell that he made her happy, and that made Em happy. Juls deserved someone nice and sweet, especially after all that she'd been through. Llian was proving to be just that.

At Juls's comment, Em smiled a little more. She knew it was probably not what she'd expected, because Em was always one to panic. And normally, she probably would have panicked, but her friend's safety had been the only thing on her mind at that point. She wasn't worried about icky blood or babies, just Juls.

"Of course, hun," Em said to her. "I wasn't going to just leave you here. I'm still not. Unless you want me to?"

Well, Llian and Juls could have wanted to be alone, and Em didn't want to intrude if they did.

Llian grinned, glad his little joke hadn't gone over badly. "Of course it's a cute cottage," he replied. "Definitely no need to doubt that."

The next comment, though, was much more somber. "Is everyone going to be all right?" he asked upon hearing that they were basically all at Mungo's for some reason or another. "Is there anything I can do for you... like, do you want me to get details on your friends for you or anything?" He really was just sort of desperate to help. He felt kind of useless not being able to do much for her, so he was just throwing out ideas. Of course, it probably made more sense for Emery to go check on people since she knew them all, but he still figured he'd offer. He did think it was interesting that Emery's fiance was at Mungo's, and she was there refusing to leave Juls' side, but he figured it might not have been that bad or something. He really wasn't one judge people.

His attention was drawn back to Juls when she answered his question. "I'm glad he's moving, but that sounds kind of painful...is there anything they can give you to help that?" Well, no, probably not. But still: he had no idea.

He glanced up at Emery when Juls looked up at her, nodding along with her thanks, which he had already expressed.

Juls smiled at Llian's concern, and told him, "Jayden is hurt from something cursed, so Jake and Peter - Em's fiancee - had to carry him here. There's three. And then Emery and Elena and Mist's son Iain came with me, but Lena doesn't do blood very well. So she's somewhere around here. And that just leaves Mist and Ri back at the den."

Which honestly? She was a little worried about, but it wasn't like they could do anything about it right then.

Also, lying on her back - even with the pillows - was starting to get extremely uncomfortable. Slowly, she sat up, wrapping her free arm around her stomach to ease the movement, and then sighed. Much better; laying on her back made her dizzy.

"No medicine." Juls reminded Llian, shrugging a little. "It's okay. I can handle it." Because really, she was a wolf. It was like, a pain-tolerance badge of honor, literally. If you can't handle pain, then you couldn't handle being a wolf, and on top of that, she had Jimmy to deal with. So yes, she could handle it. It had been more the fear and less the pain that had brought on the tears, and the panick. "Well I'm not going to lie, being stuck in this, particular bed, isn't going to be much fun." She had to grin at Emery, "So you're totally welcome to stay. Seriously though, we should just get Jay up here in a double room and that way people won't have to be running all over the place."

Jake had made his way up and noticed that Llian and Em were in the room with Juls. He tapped on the door, just to be polite, before he entered, and waved at everyone. "I was just about to suggest that." He replied, to what Juls said about the double room and smiled.

"Lena told me you were here and that she and Peter could watch over Jay. He had a visitor anyway, so I think he's fine." He had heard her say no to the medicine and smiled bigger, "They won't let Jay near the pain meds." He stood right beside Emery, looking solely at Juls. "He wishes you luck, by the way. And Peter too, who was going to come up as well, but Iain clasped onto him so tightly I guess he felt he needed to stay with Elena."

Jake shrugged and then looked at Juls' stomach. "I'm sure everyone has been asking how you're doing and stuff..." He said, sheepishly, "But how are you, and the baby?" He couldn't and didn't keep the concern out of his voice. Lena had said much about what had happened... not enough, at least. And that? Made Jake worry even more.

They left and then, wham, Juls ended up in Mungos not hours later.

"Wow. You and your friends seem to have a tendency to get into trouble," Llian remarked with a grin. "Really, though: I hope Jayden's going to be all right." He only knew a little about the people in the Den from what Juls had told him in their various conversations throughout the course of their relationship, and he really hoped they were all ok because he knew how much Juls cared about them.

He couldn't help but smile when Juls commented that she didn't want medicine and could handle it. He expected nothing different, honestly. That didn't mean he didn't want to help, but he knew Juls, and he knew that it wasn't like her to want any sort of pain medication or anything.

When the door opened, Llian glanced up to find a man he recognized as Jake from some photos Juls had showed him. He nodded a greeting, although the guy seemed to only be really paying attention to Juls. Llian supposed there was nothing wrong with it at all, really, and he was just there to see how she was, like any concerned friend would be. Still, the small bit of knowledge of what Juls had told him about her and Jake's past... He wasn't sure why, but he was experiencing something a little strange that one would probably call 'jealousy'...but he wasn't jealous. He was just...He didn't know.

It didn't really matter. Juls' friend was coming to see her, and that was that.
