By the time she got into her room, was changed and settled into her bed, she was in the middle of a contraction. This time, rather than going for Ryou's hand, she clutched the front of his shirt and pulled him so his face we right in front of her's. "NO MORE! ANYMORE YOU'RE TAKING THAT DAMN GENDER CHANGING POTION AND CARRYING THEM!" She yelled at him through a particularily painful contraction, letting go only when the contraction went away.

Dea had been paged by Tayn in the middle of a typical checkup. There was one woman who came in once a week to make sure her 'condition' had not widdled. Every week she was given a 'potion' that was basically carbonation and water with a drop of cherry flavouring. The first time they'd tried to give her something sugary, she didn't believe it did anything for her, so they'd moved to it tasting horrible. Naturally, it worked.

Seeing as an acolyte could fill that prescription, Dea left the woman with the one helping her and headed up to maternity, preparing herself. She could hear the screaming even before she entered the room, and it only got louder as she knocked, as was customary, and walked in.

"Hello." She greeted with a smile, "I'm Healer James...Healer Daniels' expertise in a particular area was needed for an emergency case. How are you feeling, other than the obvious? Too hot? Cold? Thirsty?"

As she talked, she started hooking up things; an IV to keep her hydrated, a baby monitor to watch the baby's stress through the pregnancy, and Andy's vitals.

Andy looked at the woman who was smiling at her and she had no idea why Healer's were so happy, but her simple gaze turned to a glare. "I have two babies in my womb, looking to get out, causing me great pain, while you stand there looking at me with a stupid grin and ask me about my temperature, which for your damn information, its too cold in here!" She raised her voice, feeling like if she was miserable, everyone else had to be too.

Ryou looked from his wife to the new Healer and looked at her apologetically.

Not a happy labour then. Alright, no problem. After placing another blanket over the woman, Dea pulled up Andy's file off the bed and scanned it quickly, just so that she could know the birthing plan and if it was her first pregnancy. Finding that she was a mother already made things easier, definitely.

"Alright, Mrs. Grant? I'm going to check to see how far along you are, and then I can determine when best to give you the epidural you requested."

With pained, stressed out mothers, it was always best to tell them what was going on as it happened. "Since this is not your first labour, I'm sure you already know what to do. For right now though, do not push. You might have the urge, but with twins, pushing before you're properly dilated could put stress on the babies as they already are in a cramped space."

As Dea measured her cervix, she also placed her hand on Andy's stomach to determine the position of the babies, Luckily, both of them were in the correct breech position, one of the babies dropped and the other in a good position to follow.

"Looks like everything's going well. The babies' heartbeats are strong, they're in a good position. You're about four centimeters dilated, so now is the perfect time to get you a dose of the epidural. That should take away a little bit of the pain but not so much you can't feel the contractions, so that when it does become time to push, you know when."

She couldn't help it, but having a healer that was so calm kept her calm in a way. There were some healers here that she would love a chance to yell at. "Fine, do whatever, mothers have no modesty." She felt like pointing out, turning her head to look out the window, and away from Ryou.

When she was looking out the window, she started crying silently.

Dea couldn't help but smile at that and responded with a simple, "You'd be surprised just how modest some of them could be, but that's usually new mothers who have never done this before. You're lucky; even though you have twins, pregnancies get easier each time."

Carefully, Dea helped Andy roll onto her side and round her back in order to insert the catheter to give her the epidural, and once she had, then helped Andy adjust to laying again, putting another blanket at the end of the bed just in case, and having an acolyte bring in some ice chips.

Seeing that her patient was crying, Dea said sympathetically, " The epidural should kick in very soon. It'll take a little while to dilate those six more centimeters though, so just relax as well as you can. Is there anyone else the hospital can contact for you?"

She just laid there after the catheter was put into her back, just sobbing to herself. "Yeah they get easier, I was in labour with my son for 3 days after a healer gave me a potion to continue labour rather than stop braxton hicks contractions, making him 2 months premature." She pointed out, she was still mad at the hospital for Leo's life being put into danger.

"But no, I have no one else to contact, Carter will tell the rest of my family." She said simply and just pulled the blankets and closed her eyes.

"I apologize for that healer's clear incapability." Dea responded, wincing slightly at the sound of a mixed up potion. Obviously it was always an uncertain science, but to mix up inducement potions and not fixing it after three days? That was inexcusable. She might have been a newer healer, but she'd been an acolyte for long enough she was comfortable with everything she was doing at the moment. After all, she'd started in the Maternity Ward.

Andy's denial of calling anyone else just lead Dea to leave Andy with her husband and go take care of more routine checkups until, two hours later, she was paged once again by the nurse's desk that Andy's monitors showed she was ready.

So Dea re-entered the room with an equally calm attitude as before, cheerfully asking, "Are you ready to meet your new children?"

Well, either way she was going to, because when Dea checked, it was time. "I'm going to break your water, and the contractions will start getting a little more intense. It shouldn't hurt, but it might be a little uncomfortable only because your body will be straining to push. When you feel the urge, I need you to do so as hard as possible. I'll also be counting along and letting you know when if you need verbal instructions."

It wasn't like the contractions were slowing whether or not she got an approval though, so once Andy's water had broken, Dea settled down and put a hand on her patience's stomach to feel the movement. "Here it comes... okay push! And push! One, two three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten! Take a deep breath, and...push!"

Once Healer James was gone, Andy finished up her little spell and laid calmly on the bed, playing with Ryou's hand. As she laid there, Andy apologized to her husband for yelling at him, that she was just in considerable pain. "Soon, soon our little girls will be in our arms." she reassured him, hoping she'd be able to get through birthing both girls naturally.

When Healer James came back and explained the situation to her, she nodded. "Just keep Holly and Olivia safe, please." She requested.

Next, her water was broken and the need to push came, so as the count down was being called out, she was bearing down as much as she could.

"I'll do the best I can." Dea promised Andy, pleased to find that the mood in the room had switched. "Holly and Olivia are beautiful names. Do you have middle names?"

Distracting mothers was also a relatively good tactic to use, when she wasn't counting the time or contractions. Soon, another acolyte had come to help Dea as there were two babies, and after a fair amount of good, hard pushing from her patient, the first baby's head was crowning a little while later.

"I see the first one, Mrs. Grant. We're almost halfway there. Just keep pushing; you can do this." Encouragement was another.

Not long after that did the baby's shoulders slipped free, and after the umbilical cord was cut and she was crying - a result of her first breath of air - Dea turned back to Andy for the second one, gently pressing down on her stomach to urge the baby to move closer to the cervix. Having been the second one, she was a little further up than Dea usually liked in a labour, but luckily the stomach was shifting her down just as Dea had wished.

"One more and then you can rest." Dea told her, "Just a little bit more pushing. Here it comes...push! One..two..."

Shaking her head, they didn't have middle names yet, but that wasn't important, it was more important that they had first names. "Nope, their brother's name came easy, but theirs were harder."

It felt liek no time and their first daughter was pulled free from her, hearing strong cries, Andy couldn't have been happier. But with the first girl being pulled free, Andy was free to take a moment's rest while the second was dropped into place.

In that time Andy looked over at her daughter being cleaned up. "We're going to have a party in a few days for the girls if you'd like to come. I just know the boys want to see their baby sisters." She smiled with teary eyes at the little girl.

Within a few minutes, another contraction came on to make her push again. "Ow, ow, ow, ow..." She whined, pushing down again, soon her second daughter would emerge.

Well, they had three days to put the girls' official names on the birth certificates for the hospital, so they had time to think about it. People tended to just look at their newborns and know exactly what to call them, something that mystified Dea to no ends. She supposed when she got to the point where she was ready to have her own, she'd understand.

Until then, she could just focus on her work.

With one strong, healthy baby girl already being swaddled, Dea focused on the second one, knowing the pushes would be a little weaker this time if only because of the body's stress in pushing the first. It was near twenty minutes later when Dea finally was able to help the second little girl out. This umbilical cord was also cut, and she left the acolyte to help Andy pass the placentas as she cleaned and checked on the second baby, writing down both of the reaction tests. Strong numbers. Once Andy was all cleaned and rewrapped in blankets, Dea and the acolyte brought her children to her for her to hold.

"Say hi to your mummy little ones..."

Andy took her daughter from Healer James and smiled. "Hello Holly." She kissed the new born's cheek. Both little girls had dark, dark hair, but a lot more than Leo ever had until recently. She lifted the little girl up again and kissed her cheek. "Thank you so much. They are safe and gorgeous. Please, come to our house for a little get together on Friday, it'll be in the afternoon." She asked her Healer once more.

Ryou took Olivia into his arms and she teared up again. "They look alike, how are we going to tell who is who, and who is older?" She asked.

"There will be little differences that I'm sure you'll begin to pick up on. The eldest one is slightly longer, most likely because she was in the position to grow better, just as she was in the position to come into the world first. Usually too, there's a personality shift. It's all a learning process." Dea told Andy, the cheerful smile back on her face.

When offered again to come to their house - although Dea usually would decline such offers from patients, she didn't think a no would suffice for her - Dea just nodded, and then said, "Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Grant. It's not custom for us to keep mothers overnight when the babies are perfectly healthy, so if you want the acolyte will stay in here and help you feed them, and then when you feel up to it, I can write your discharge papers and you can bring them home."

Sitting in the room with the girls and her husband, she was so astounded by them, but unlike Leo or Alfie, they loved crying, and one baby crying was frustrating enough, but two.... oh Ryou would be working double time with them.

Once they were all fed, she was handed a home care sheet for herself, nothing unusual, and she was helped back into her clothes once the anesthetic wore off. Andy dressed the girls in matching outfits and looked at their bracelets, the baby with the number 1 on her bracelet was Olivia, she was the one of the two that didn't cry when Ryou held her, definite daddy's girl. And Holly was the one thaat was laid in her arms first.

They were free to go home, oh the boys would be so excited to see their baby sisters.
