For all pregnancy related appointments <3 -- Juls and Llian took their time getting to Mungo's, as they were still a little early, but when they arrived there was an obnoxious amount of paperwork to be filled out. Luckily though, they were escorted to one of the rooms first, and so Juls was sitting on the bed, frowning as she tried to answer the questions. Some of it was really strange. Like, when was the last time you had more than three drinks? Do you ever feel helpless and mad at the world? Do you sleep well? Why were they checking for alcoholics, druggies, depression, and insomnia when all she wanted was to make sure her baby was okay? Eventually though, it was all finished, and so she set it aside, shaking her head. Surprisingly? She was really nervous. This was the trimester when she should start feeling their baby, and when they would be able to see him or her, and tell the gender, and hear the baby's heartbeat...and for some reason, she was nervous about that. What if something was wrong that they could see? What if the full moon last night had detached something or something had gone wrong? That pain through her stomach last night? It hurt, really bad, and it was sharp, and unexpected. What if something had gone wrong? She was getting herself all worked up though, so Juls just took a deep breath, and looked back up at Llian. |

They got called into the room pretty quickly after the seemingly endless paperwork was done. A lot of it wasn't even relevant. He didn't remember Julie having to do this much of it, but perhaps that was because she had first been planning on raising the baby by herself, so he'd probably missed that particular visit. He was more than excited as they finally got shown to a room, and Juls lay down on the examination table. She looked up at him, and he gave her an encouraging smile. "Everything's going to be fine." He said it with confidence, because it was always good to believe what you said. And the night had gone well; there was no reason to believe their baby would be anything but perfectly healthy. "And we get to see our baby." The excitement was quite clear in his expression. "How are you feeling?" |

Juls reached out and took Llian's hand once they were all settled, a little uncomfortable laying down again. Once she was up, she was up. And laying back down just felt stiff. But she could deal with it. She had more interesting and important things to think about. His reassurance just made her nod, and take another breath before she smiled back at him and his excitement. "We do." She said, her smile brightening just a little bit. "I'm still feeling pretty sore, and I'm a little nervous." She told him truthfully, "But okay." Just a few minutes after she responded were they joined by an acolyte. Unless something was wrong or something past the skin was being done, ultrasounds were done by the trainees, they were told. Juls had made sure to wear a simple cotton shirt, so it was no difficulty for her to roll it up to bare her stomach. Throughout every step they were explained what was going on, and it only took a few minutes until that warm, sticky gel was spread over her stomach and the transducer was being moved back and forth, trying to find their baby. It only took a few minutes for the acolyte to pinpoint exactly where their baby was. As soon as the baby was, though, the 4-D was turned on. The baby's heartbeat was lightly pounding through the room, and with only a few seconds to focus, their baby was on the screen for them to see. "Now, do you want to know the baby's gender?" Juls was so transfixed with the image on the screen, watching the baby's tiny hands move up to it's ears, that she almost missed the question. The biggest smile had grown on her face, and when her mind did finally process, she glanced at Llian and then nodded at the acolyte, watching transfixed as the transducer was moved around her stomach with a lot more pressure to tilt the baby into a position where they could see. It took a little while, and it was a little uncomfortable, but soon enough they could see quite clearly what their baby was. "Congratulations, it's a boy." |

Llian could understand where her nerves were coming from. He was being hit with a few of his own, although his stemmed more from excitement than anything. He loved ultrasounds. Whomever had come up with them was one of the best inventors ever. Because they couldn't meet their baby for what seemed like forever, but now at least they could see him or her. It didn't take long before an Acolyte came to join them in the room, and within minutes, they could hear their baby's heartbeat. It sounded healthy and strong... and at a completely regular rhythm. At that, he let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. The last time he was in a room on this floor, his daughter was recovering from having a hole in her heart, so it had been a subconscious sort of fear he'd had about his and Juls' baby. And then they were asked if they wanted to know the gender. When Juls looked up at him, they both nodded, and the Acolyte began to get the baby into a better position as Llian took Juls' hand. While she was busy with that, Llian was busy staring at the screen. As was Juls. That was their baby. He or she was absolutely amazing to behold for the first time, and although Llian was probably grinning like an idiot at the screen in front of them, he really didn't care. He was ecstatic. "That's our baby," he breathed, completely enraptured by the sight. "She or he is absolutely beautiful..." And a moment later, it was announced that the baby was, in fact, a 'he'. If anything, Llian was only grinning wider. He bent his head to kiss Juls' cheek, giving the hand he was holding a quick, happy squeeze. "We're having a son." Nothing like stating the obvious. But he didn't care. He didn't want to contain himself. Hell, he could repeat that one, simple fact all day. But first he had a question. So he looked up at the Acolyte. "He's healthy, right? No problems or anything?" |

Once they had confirmed their son's gender, the acolyte zoomed back out to let them watch their baby for a little bit longer. Seeing their son move in synchronization with tiny flutters in her stomach made her realize that it wasn't just nerves or butterflies or things shifting. Or, rather, it was the baby shifting. They said that as a first-time mother, she probably wouldn't have noticed but now that she could see it right in front of her, she was basically tearing up in excitement. It made it so much more real to be able to see him, instead of just feeling the cravings and the sickness and the weight gain. To be able to actually see their son...it was indescribable. "Llian look at him." Well if that wasn't the most pointless thing she didn't know what was. He was making comments as well, she knew he was looking at him. She spared just a split second to beam at him when he kissed her cheek, but she wanted to take in as much as she could get. They were only supposed to get fifteen minutes of screen before the gel wore out and their time was up. When Llian asked the acolyte if anything was wrong though, she did tear her eyes away from it to look at the girl. "Well, as you can hear the heartbeat is a little faster than normal. That's usually caused by smoking, drinking, or excess stress. We can see the placenta here, and the cord is no where near his neck, so do any of the previous apply to you?" "I don't smoke and I haven't had a drink since I found out." Juls told her. "In the past ten minutes it's already started to slow about a beat so if you just take it easy for the next few days, everything should be fine. I don't think there's enough cause for worry to schedule another ultrasound for this week, but if you are feeling any pain or have any bloody discharge, please come back immediately. Any more questions?" Juls agreed to 'take it easy', and the acolyte removed the transducer and siphoned the gel off her stomach, the machine printing out the screen shots taken for them. "I don't think so..." She answered slowly, sitting up. She didn't know if Llian had any others though, considering he had done this before, so she just looked at him, the smile still extremely wide on her face. |

Llian heard Juls talking to him as the Acolyte was out of the room, and he just nodded. How could he not be looking at him? That was his son in there, moving around, growing and developing. Words actually could not do his feelings justice. Yes, he had been just as excited about their son as before, but there was something different about seeing him on the screen and being able to look at him. And it was definitely amazing to know which gender to call him. He was definitely relieved when the Acolyte told them the baby was fine, and evertyhing would be good with just a couple of day of Juls taking it easy. Of course, she immediately agreed, and as they were cleaning up, the Acolyte asked if they had more questions. Juls didn't, and Llian added, "I'm all set. Thanks for your time." The Acolyte nodded, handed them the screen shots and exited the room. Llian stared at one of the pictures he had been given, still completely in awe, before looking up at Juls. "I guess I was wrong about having a girl," he remarked, pretty sure the grin wasn't going to leave his face all day. "So what do you say we go out and celebrate?" he asked. "We could buy some stuff fo the nursery maybe?" It had definitely put him in the mood to shop for his little boy. |

Since Juls was getting her clothing settled out, the pictures were given to Llian, and as soon as the acolyte was out of the room she squealed, "We're having a boy!" Their baby had just been on that screen and she was ecstatic. Not only that but now they had their very first pictures of their baby. They were eighteen months along and had twenty two left and they were having a son and she was just incredibly, overwhelmed with it all. Teasingly, she added, "So I guess I can say I told you so?" When he suggested that they go out and celebrate she nodded and got up, immediately getting choked up over the idea of having things to put in that extra room for the nursery. But still, she just laughed at herself and rubbed her cheeks, and then wrapped her arms around his neck and repeated, "We, are having a boy..." |

He was still half-speechless as Juls wrapped her arms around his neck. He hugged her back, sliding his arms around her gradually thickening waistline. "We're having a son." It was a repetitive statement, but it didn't matter, because it caused the same, broad grin on both of their faces when either of them mentioned it. He held Juls for a moment, just wanting to savor the moment. As amazing as life could be, creating new life was even better than that. And he loved living in that moment, right there, when they could be over the moon happy about finding out that their healthy baby was a boy. It felt best to enjoy the moments, and that was exactly what he was going to do. "Yes, you can say you told me so," he laughed, leaning back just a little. And then he leaned in to kiss her softly. "But I'm definitely ok with being wrong." He leaned in again to hug her, enjoying just holding her there and taking joy in the moment. But after a moment, he said, "Ok, I guess we should probably stop talking up their room. Want to go to that baby store in Diagon?" he asked. When Juls nodded, they left the room to go walk, seeing as it was a nice day, and they didn't want to put any more stress on the baby by Apparating. [Permission to GM] |
